    Needed some work

I bought this laptop after reading the reviews here. It was this or the Asus machine with the same specs. The sale price was pretty good and the specs seemed like they would work for my usage which is mainly web surfing, music, email and word processing. I picked up the laptop at the store which was pretty easy and straightforward. After unboxing the product i spent the first day updating windows/other programs and setting up the included antivirus. On the second day i tested the laptop with different programs. The machine was super slow and when it did seem like it was doing anything there was a lag. I read some more reviews here and one person had suggested reinstalling windows and only installing the needed programs. I did that and what a difference. I believe the pre-installed programs were too many and were using too much RAM. Most of these programs i would not even use. I had also opened the task manager and kept checking processor and RAM usage. Before i would only open 2-3 programs and the machine would slow down. Now i can open 7-8 programs and the machine is speedy and responsive. I also switched my browser to firefox and am using a better antivirus program. It definitely pays to do some research. I wish it had more RAM, may add some more in the future. Good price for a good machine for regular medium scale use so i have decided to keep it.

Unboxing: HP put their talents into engineering the foam pieces which snugly and slowly wedged the laptop out of the box. this was the most exciting part of this deploy after the Ooo's and Aaa's. Pwr of the force: the 45w AC/DC travel adapter is ideal for this laptop. Though I prefer 65w, it has the same dc male adapter as my elitebook 840g3. laptop came pre-charged Start your engines: or lack of! It amazes me how Windows 10 still takes 45 minuets to set up from the OEM Install and over 1h and 30min from a refresh. Which after setup is exactly what I had to do. I was welcomed with a "Black Screen" moving cursor. after the re-fresh spending over 2 hours of my evening, this laptop is anything but user friendly or speedy. it has a 2013 AMD A6 cpu, 4gb ram, HDD so "Blast from the past", The CPU fan has not stopped since. the Bloat+Corona +mcCafe+ bestbuy Free 6mo trial webroot = in the trash Cortona and hp bloatware is too much for this laptop to handle, on top of that offering more free trial ware is asking for the GeekSquad to help you = More money. Not a good buy. I ended up going directly to Microsoft.com and DL the Win10.iso and installing from usb. Much better, a lot better, its like a ton of weights were lifted and it can run free. I was trying to convince my wife that a 2009 Dell Latitude e6410 runs better than this. I dislike the touchpad and left and right clicks its not smooth and the keys are not bouncy. they do feel like they could eventually get stuck. If the laptop moves on your lap you can see the LCD screen produce a ripple effect caused from the stress points on the bottom. I have never seen a laptop do that before. Very Cheep build. I expect it to break with in 3 months. I do not expect this laptop to be on the shelves more than a month and the next Cheepo Laptop model will be out. Do not set your expectations high. its just a cheep HP.

I purchased the laptop in Feb. 2018. Purchased for my wife to use the internet, run Silhouette Cameo cutter software, AutoCAD, and word processing. Pros: cheap, recent windows OS, pretty fast processesor (compared to an Intel i5 processor), dvd drive, pretty light for being so big, large display. Cons: does not feel super solid, like if you drop it on a corner it will chip, display has glare if not positioned at proper angle, physically big. My opinion: this screen isn't super bright, so might be difficult for people with bad eyes. The screen is large, which means the laptop is huge (could be bad or good for you). Otherwise, for everything other than heavy video editing/gaming, or photo editing (note I say heavy, because it can do all those things), this computer is awesome. 5 stars because what else can you expect from a sub $300 laptop. This computer is just as powerful as other computers that are out there, but have a smaller footprint. Just note that if you are looking for a similar spec'd laptop but smaller, the cheapest you will find will be in the $500 ish range. I did A LOT of research, and we were going to buy a different laptop for about $100 more, similar specs. As soon as this one popped up, we scooped it up, best buy! (pun intended)

    Disappointed

I just bought one of these and am probably going to return it. Has frozen a number of times including when merely trying to modify the touchpad settings without any other windows open. Task manager couldn't unfreeze the unit and I had to do a hard shutdown by holding down the power button for 5 seconds. This is directly out-of-the-box, with no modifications or software added by me. The unit did need to go through 2 cycles of windows 10 updates before settling down, which was not too surprising since windows 10 doesn't give you the option of delaying installation of updates. Also, the wifi range is smaller than I've experienced with any of my other laptops. Very disappointed. On the positive side, keyboard, display, and audio are good, but don't make up for the operational problems.

Im not going to talk much on aesthetics. I like the trackpad and keyboard. They fit a heavy hand. The power button is off putting, but I like it as well. My gripe was install updates. You may encounter errors. Like missing bits service ect...Dont panic. Keep trouble shooting, keep restarting. The fall update failed a few times, but after closing all programs I shut it down afterwards. Then I opened the update center it reccomended the restart to finish the 1709 windows 10 creator update. It took two days before I got through all other updates to get to that , but now it is up and up to date. I did not delete anything either I literally got through it with patience, and good ol troubleshooter.Im running MTGO (Magic The Gathering Online) Abelton 9 lite, Mixcraft Pro studio 8, and Chrome. I also have a Focusrite external soundcard with its driver installed to my usb 3.0 port. It can power the soundcard/interface as it is meant too which is a plus. I essentially bought this to be able to record music, podcasts, and voice work on a budget. Its doing the trick so far.

    Love this laptop

I needed to buy a new laptop after a new unrollbackable bios made my current HP laptop hard to use. I decided to try a different brand this time so I got the Lenovo ideapad 320 that was on sale. It has much better specs than this HP laptop but I returned it because I found it noisy - the fans and hard drive and it was not particularly fast. So I exchanged it for this HP laptop for very cheap on sale not expecting much and I could not be happier. This HP-15 bw0110x laptop is fast, quiet and just works very well - its smooth. I like that it has bluetooth built in - my last one didn't. It is better than my i3 core intel laptop from 3 years ago... faster and smoother. One suggestion i would make is to let the computer complete the windows updates before any uninstalling of bloatware or any restarting/shutting down of computer (other than what's necessary to do the windows updates) or changing of windows 10 settings (in privacy and system for example). Let it update to latest version of windows 10 first and then get to work on adding programs, uninstalling bloat and changing settings. This in my opinion is a great laptop for the price or even for a much higher price. I don't do gaming just heavy internet with FireFox quantum watching videos, multiple programs, tabs etc and this computer doesn't blink an eye. Fast and quiet and gets the job done. Needless to say, I will not be updating the bios on this. Thank you HP and Best Buy for a great affordable product.

It's a good laptop for the price, it is not the fastest laptop but definitely not the slowest. The usb ports have a terrible design though, you can't plug in two flash drives because the ports are so close together.

Love this laptop. I was looking for something simple, not too fancy. Just needed a laptop that could handle my work load to use with word documents, excel, pics and internet usage. Internet speed works pretty efficient on this laptop, and the dual processor works great when working on 2 applications at the same time. I don't need to travel with my laptop, so I actually love the over-sized screen, which makes for comfortable navigation, since I am near sighted. The computer was very reasonably priced, however, if I had made up my mind to treat myself within my budget, I would have added the touch screen and light up keys. But overall, am happy with what I got.

Bought this 8 days ago...my observations so far. Pros: Price Cons: Very slow Quality of screen color poor Battery life not good Volume at highest level is ok ...if you don't care about listening to what you are watching! Yes I get it...you get what you pay for, however this is not good, even for the price. This computer will be going back.

The laptop is a complete rip off. Best buy offers a 15 day returns, and my laptop went bad in 30 days. It is very slow, and the bottom is snapped together with plastic notches. Very slow! Screws were missing when it arrived. Do not buy this! It doesn't work!

Only had this computer for a couple months....wont play DVD's takes a long time to load and start up. There's a reason its cheap. HP customer service isn't very helpful either....Spend the extra money and get something that will do what a computer is supposed to do and last more than a couple weeks

You get what you pay for here. Like most reviews say, this is a slow computer. It also has limited batter life. You'll get two hours of batter life brand new out of the box, maybe 2 1/2 if you use some power saving measures. It is easy to setup, comfortable keyboard. It has had some glitches with software updates in the first week of use but nothing major. I'd give it a 2.5 but gave a 2 vs 3 because of the batter life. If you plan to have the laptop plugged in most of the time and are using it for basic web use and MS Office etc, it might be a 4/5 for you and a great value.
