Not happy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 2nd computer in less than 30 days. The first one wouldn't charge and it had to be replaced. Now the Geek squad has the replacement, trying to figure out what is wrong with it. So mad because I need my computer for class and I have a boat load of school work to do.

Nice computer but quality is suspect.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, this computer was really nice. However, after just 6 weeks, it stopped booting up to Windows. Had to return for repair, and now waiting for return. I don't have a good feeling now. Only time will tell.

Broken parts within days of purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop after discussing its durability and "ultraportability" with Best Buy staff, based on the metal shell & steady state drive. I am not hard on my tech, but do transport my computer around regularly, so expect a few bumps etc. Since my last hp laptop lasted 9+ years with few problems, I thought I was in for an even higher quality product. Unfortunately, the plastic cracked around the charging port within days of use! A laptops lifespan is dependent on this connection - This is not a durable product. Best Buy customer service staff called the damage physical, therefore not eligible for warranty. While the problem clearly is physical, this product, while promoted as stronger and priced to match, has significant weaknesses at key areas. Think twice before purchasing.

Don't purchase this laptop or HP products
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this laptop and paid around $700 for it plus additional money for extended warranty through Geek Squad. It was great at first but 2 months after purchase it blue screened on me and it could not be fixed as no matter what you did it kept looping back to the blue screen. It appears it is a Windows 10 issue and HP nor Geek Squad would fix it under the warranty. I had 2 different Help Desks (at two different employers) try to fix it and they couldn't. They couldn't get Windows 10 reinstalled either. They could get a different OS to work on it but not Windows 10. I purchased this laptop with Windows 10 pre-installed but HP won't help me. I will never purchase another HP product again.

Not good if you have older software.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to use in my business and to my dismay, my QuickBooks program constantly crashes and I cannot get a driver that will work with Windows 10 and my older H P printer. Very frustrated and feel I wasted my money on this purchase.

Soooooo beautiful!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My boyfriend gave me this laptop as a gift and I love it! It works so fast, especially when you first start it up. The touch screen and trackpad are very responsive and I haven’t had any difficulties in that area thus far (or any for that matter). The resolution is fantastic and makes viewing easier on the eyes and the laptop itself hasn’t made a noise loud enough to bother me as some reviews have stated. The keyboard feels like a gem and typing on it is great and not to mention the awesome backlight option for when it’s too dark to see the keys. The outside color of the laptop is my fav and it goes so well with the inside color. I am elated to have received this!!

Disappointed Again
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this computer for 21 days and I have already had to do a factory reset and reload all apps and software. After googling the dark screen issue it looks as though this HP has a common issue of going dark and will not start up. So far, very disappointed.

Simple, Fun, Light Device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop in late June when it was brand new. I did my research on 2-in-1 laptops for a few weeks before deciding on a HP. One of the employees recommended this newer 14' model and it is great. It is a really fun laptop. Its light, easy to use (former MacBook pro user), and a decent price. I even was able to go back within the 15 day return period and get a price adjustment since it went down $50 and had the $125 off student deals. I use this for work, school, and to watch videos. I switched for a MacBook since my last device was paid for by work. I needed something new and a good price. As much as I love apple products, I couldn't justify spending $300-500 more for an air when it has similar storage and processor, but no tablet function. Its a great little device and zippy. If you don't need a whole lot of storage, and are looking for a fast device that is portable, then this is for you. I look forward to getting a stylus so I can use Windows Ink as well. If you need a 2-in-1 for under $700, I would go with this one. The only minor flaw I could mention is the fan does come on periodically. It doesn't bother me however.

FAST & SEXY & STAYS COOLISH & LIGHT WEIGHT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If Apple made a 14 inch laptop, then this would be the HP version of it. Specs are similar to a a 13" Macbook Air. Only thing that's not as good is the battery life. Doesn't get 10 hours like the Macbook. Still has decent battery time though. Gets slightly warm when watching Youtube videos for hours, but never really gets warm unless you're trying to play a video game. This laptop can run WOW, but not GTA 5. I don't think that you can play GTA 5 on a Macbook either. If Apple made a 14 inch Macbook, it would probably be the same weight as this HP. This laptop looks just as sleek as a Macbook, only negative might be the 2 different tones of color silver & gold. I think a lot of previous reviews keep mentioning Apple laptops because this device is similar to them & runs just as well except for the battery. However, Macbook laptops don't have touch screen feature or 2-in-1 tablet option, so this HP might be better in that sense. Mouse works perfectly and it really does perform at an i5 speed. Not sluggish at all like some of the other i5-7200 CPU laptops with the same processor & ram & video card that I tried & exchanged. This is a high quality device, doesn't look or feel cheap at all. With a student discount, it's about $630 total. That's about $400 cheaper than the cheapest Macbook. If you're looking for a PC version of a Macbook at a much cheaper price, then this is an excellent choice!

Apple killer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been an MacBook user for 2 years. I was surprised that the key board are almost the same with the MacBook. And its super fast to open. It takes 6 seconds to open. With the 14" screen fits for me. Not too big nor too small like the 13.3".it transfer files so fast from my IPhone and can also transfer files from android. So far, so good up to this moment. Thumbs up!

compact and fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace my traditionally large (15.6") laptop with CD and mechanical hard drive. I was concerned about downsizing with screen and hard drive and not having a CD, but those concerns went away after using for a couple of weeks. This laptop is fast. It takes less than 6 seconds to boot and that is from being powered off and not in standby or sleep mode. The screen is bright and very responsive to touch. I keep resolution high and the icons and text are clear and easy to see. Watching videos is easy on the eyes and the resolution is great. I have not bought a pen yet but that is in my future. The speakers are loud enough for using as a traditional laptop or if you flip the screen to stand up for movies, the speakers still deliver clear sounds. I looked at a couple of other comparable laptops and the sounds didn't come close to the output of this model. The keyboard is lit if you switch it on, a nice feature. The keys are responsive and quiet. I do miss the number pad of the side of the keyboard but it isn't a deal breaker since this is not my work laptop. I don't love the touchpad, but I don't love many. It is not as responsive as I would like and the right and left buttons sometimes get mixed up. That said, with most touch pads that integrate two buttons within one pad, I have had this issue. The laptop is very light and compact even though the screen is 14". The battery life is great, compared to my old laptop any battery life is great but I know that I have at least used for 7 hrs without having to charge it. There are features for battery saving that I am sure would prolong the battery to the 9 hrs that it is spec'd for. I have a Surface 3 Pro for work and it doesn't come close to the performance of this laptop plus this has a larger keyboard and screen. The shell of the laptop is solid, strong, and light. Fingerprints have not be an issue because it is brushed. My last laptop was plastic and that is what broke down on it. No more plastic for me. The last thing that I should mention is the wifi. It does have AC wifi but I am running that standard wifi router that came from my internet provider (FIOS). Even thought I haven't upgraded the router, my speed is faster on this laptop according the speedtest.net. I am getting better uploads and downloads. AC wifi is faster but there would be little benefit since my service is slower than AC wifi. As for the CD and hard drive - get an external CD for $25 if you need it and get a backup TB drive if you are concerned about not having enough storage space.
