Major flaws, but all together a great laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this laptop for Christmas. It's great and a great update from my previous ASUS that weighed a TON but lasted me for 7 years. Major flaws with the touch screen at times. Frequently, the touch screen will stop working or the mouse will stop working. I found out by resetting the drives, it would work again, but it is still a major inconvenience. The mouse can also be erratic and slow at times. The WORST design flaw is the power button on the left side. It is right where you would grip the laptop to pick it up, so many times I have accidentally shut it off just by moving my laptop. Other than that, the battery is great, usually lasting 6 hours (a fantastic upgrade from my old laptop that would wimp out at 2 hours. The tablet mode is great for when I am reading PDFs for class and want to highlight. The fingerprint scanner could be more sensitive, but it works 50% of the time. Very happy with this laptop. I like the volume controls on the side. ASUS is a great company, and I will stay loyal when I upgrade to my next laptop.

Great 2 in 1 laptop...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very happy with the performance and specs. Nothing negative to say except no dvd/cd burner. I prchased an external dvd/cd burner at best buy for 19. Love the computer, Highly recomended.

Returned next day
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely horrible computer. I've owned several laptops in my time and this was the worse. It is aesthetically pleasing and goes down hill from there. Took almost 40 minutes to get past start up screen. Incredibly slow with updates, browsing, etc. This is also pretty heavy as well. As one person put it, the keyboard doesn't feel like one and is terribly put together. Immediately took back. Ran like a computer from the late 80s. First and last experience with asus. Highly disappointing...

Pitifully slow and Freezes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had high hopes for the specs for this laptop. It has proven to be a disaster. I have updated and reset and still hangs up and freezes. Windows updates do not finish and when they finally get in the wi-fi is weak and poor and picky about even a great signal. Fingerprint reader stops working all on its own and resetting it just works for a couple times and it then fails again. It is the slowest non-Intel Atom computer I have ever seen. This has been a big disappointment and it is going back . It has been 6 days of pure aggravation.

Very happy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very happy with my purchase. The only problem is the material the computer is made of is very easily scratched which can be solved with a cover

Great Purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second ASUS laptop I have purchased. I am very pleased with this one. It is sleek, yet durable. It also has enough capabilities to be modern, yet not too many to confuse basic computer users.

Poor setup and support by Asus. Look Elsewhere.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Q504UA -BI5T26 The fingerprint reader is about useless, even after help from Asus. The WiFi driver is faulty and requires a manual update or the result is constant lost connections to the internet. The video driver is poor. Switching between apps results in black screen. It's overall sluggish when it should be lightning fast. The keyboard doesn't feel like a keyboard, more like buttons in a row. The website to register the product wouldn't display the model field in Firefox. When I got a support specialist online, their computer was down. This has been a poor experience with Asus for me. This is the first time I have had to deal with a notebook like it was a bare bone built. Asus can't expect consumers to deal with such necessities.

Buyer Beware terrible customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought an ASUS computer about a year ago. After a month immediately started having problems with it running really slow (windows taking 45 min to start/shut down, Microsoft Word taking 20 minutes to load, etc). Tried reinstalling Windows, etc. Sent it in four times to ASUS and have been without it for up to a month at a time. They did not fix the problems (although put a new motherboard in it the second time I sent it in, still did not resolve it). On the fourth time they promised to send me a refurbished computer, I am still waiting for it a month later. I seldom recommend buying extended warranties, but if you are going to buy an ASUS computer, do yourself a favor and get an extended warranty through BestBuy, because if you are unfortunate enough to get a lemon like I was, you will regret having to deal with ASUS customer support.

Twice failed hard drive in less than 10 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this computer for school purposes in February of 2017. It has been used for that and very little else. We were excited at first because it seemed to run pretty smoothly and quickly. I love the fingerprint verification which seems to work well and allows me quick, easy access to my account. Love the backgrounds and apps and operating system. Edge is nice. But then... the hard drive failed after having it about 3 months. Not happy about it but it was still covered under manufacturer warranty. Best Buy replaced it and we started fresh. No problems. Until about 7 months later when it failed again. We asked the people with geek squad and they just say it's a thing that happens. Which is odd because I have another laptop (Dell) I use much more that I've been using for 3 years without it failing, and a very cheap desk top computer (E machine) I've had for about 7 years without it ever failing. When we picked up the laptop today in order to start anew, again, the geek squad person said about the hard drive, "it's kind of like a transmission in a car." Um yea... If you bought a car that turns out to be a lemon and breaks down a few months after you get it? So, while it has nice features, unless you're okay with losing everything you have and having to spend a few weeks waiting on it to be repaired every few months, spend your money elsewhere.

Learn from my mistake
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hm, not sure what happened to my original review that I posted. An ASUS rep contacted me in the comments section and I responded and now it's gone. Regardless, they were no help whatsoever and basically told me to do what I already knew had to be done. Already sent this unit in once for repairs, and now that it's out of warranty, I can't get into it without wiping out the hard drive for the second time, assuming that that even works. I will report back on whether or not it's successful, but I will never buy this brand again. Customer service is terrible and I'm not sure what the point of the rep comment was since it was of no use.

Disappointing - would not recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only have had this laptop for 1 month. The screen has gone completely black twice - first time after I had set it up and was working on it for a couple hours. The mouse is super sensitive and keeps increasing the screen size on me almost each time i use it, so annoying. Lastly its incredibly slow for being an i5...slower than my laptop that I've had for the last 10 yrs...keep in mind this is a brand new laptop that hardly has any applications downloaded or running. How could this be?

This a product to avoid - bad touchpad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are many things I like about this 2 n 1, but there is 1 major flaw above all others. The touchpad is too sensitive. You don't even have to touch it....your finger just needs to get near it and it reacts....moves the pointer, clicks, double clicks, clicks and drags things all over the place, brings up various menus. I have worked for hours with tech support to resolve it, and the last response I had is that "the touchpad is sensitive and while you are typing your hand or fingers hovering OVER the touchpad will activate it. I worked for a major international software company (hint - they develop the operating system this device runs) and I KNOW that touchpads are not designed to be that sensitive. ASUS has already released 1 Touchpad Patch so clearly there are issues with it. And I have experienced the same thing trying out others so it is not limited to mine. I would avoid all ASUS products with a touchpad until they acknowledge the issue and fix it. My first clue to there being issues is thenumber of "open box" (returns) that my local Best Buy had in stock!

decieving
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.it seems like a great laptop at first; seems to have great features like the fingerprint to unlock, the touchscreen, and the hinges for tablet mode. HOWEVER, the mouse touchpad is always jumping around( yes i keep it clean), its actually laggy for an i5, and the calculator stopped working at one point (not even geeksquad could figure out why). I have brought it in to replace but the same things happened. low quality and poorly made laptop, asus

Buyer Beware!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do not recommend this laptop to anyone. I purchased mine in February 2017 and I am about to put in a 4th hard drive. In the first year I had the hard drive replaced 3 times. It was under warranty so it cost me time and driving etc...plus being without a computer for weeks. The Best Buy tech said they send these in all the time for new hard drives and the ones asus puts in are junk. ( Obviously!) Now my laptop is out of warranty so I will have to buy the 4th hard drive myself. I' m sorry but I expect a whole lot more from an $800 computer. I only use it fir school work. No games or major program downloads. Personally, I think Best Buy needs to credit me for a new laptop because this has been a nightmare.

Slow, slow and slower
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this 2-1 3 weeks ago and it is incredibly slow. Quite often it can take 30 seconds to a minute to register 1 click of the mouse or keyboard. Also have to reboot no less than 5 times for it to get past the Asus screen.

Do not buy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I should have believed the negative comments. For its specs, this laptop is beyond slow, it crawls slower than a turtle! It is also very noisy and the keyboard is cumbersome. Wifi connection is also spotty. Shame on ASUS for putting this out there. I will be returning the laptop tomorrow. Please do not buy. Heed everyone else's warning. You'd be wasting your time and money.

Complete garbage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had the computer for 2 days, I think it's spent a total of 8 hours downloading updates, the rest of the time I've spent waiting for it to boot up to try and log on. Seriously the slowest computer I've ever owned. Time to return it, don't know why I wasted my time with this brand.
