Can get better for the price

I bought this laptop about a year ago. I don't use it for much beyond school and work (Office and internet browsing), as well as minimum game playing and video editing. The first couple months that I used it, it seemed to be a pretty great laptop. It's always been a little slow to start up, but nothing I couldn't look past. Over the past few months, it's gotten really bad. It takes about 10 minutes to start up and a ridiculous amount of time to load anything of importance. Even to open the Candy Crush app that came pre-loaded takes a good 5 minutes to start. On top of that, the battery took a dive as well. I always expect battery life to decrease as a machine gets older, but I'm lucky if I can get 3 hours out of it now and that's with the screen as dim as I can make it and in battery save mode. Overall I just feel that this is a very poorly built machine. I would hope that for what this cost, you could get something a little better.

Hard Drive broke down 4 months after purchase. ASUS Customer service is the worst thing ever. This is the second time that happens with one of ASUS products. I will never buy from ASUS again and I think you shouldn't either

More than Just a Bad Egg

The 1st Q504UA model I bought had a finger print defect that froze the scroll up so I took it back and replaced it with the same model thinking it was a bad egg. 1 month later it started dropping the wifi signal and it displayed a plugged in, not charging over the battery so I took it back and replaced it with the same model 24hrs later the battery displayed another plugged in, not charging. I know it is not my power source at home because I tested it in two areas of my home. One has a desk top, a printer and a lamp plugged into a power strip and everything else is running fine. The other area has a fan, a phone and a ipod that gets charged there without a problem except for this laptop. I am extremely disappointed at Asus. I even called your tech support twice one of them told me to uninstall the driver for the battery and restart so I did. The other after just powering off the laptop she said something is wrong with either the cord or the computer. A computer that I just got 24hrs ago. What are the odds that the same model has this many problems. Asus needs to make better laptops and the only reason I keep buying the same model is because I traded in my Toshiba, that now I wish I hadn't and because this was the only laptop that had the specs I needed and was in a price range that I can afford because if I could I would have been gave up.

Made a best buy account just to write this review

I don't usually write reviews for items but this laptop really got on my nerves. Even As I write this the E, F, R keys on my laptop take about 5 seconds to display. This is the worst product I have ever bought. I paid over $500 just so the laptop can crash within five minutes of the unboxing. I should've known bettr and turned it the first day I got it but I figured that it would get better but man I was wrong. Just within the past five days, the touchscreen has gone haywire. Don't get me started on the touchpad. As soon as the laptop reaches 20 percent it gets glitchy and is useless. Laptop freezes often and the home screen glitch o almost fiv months until one day it decided to fix it self. This laptop is garbage and I wish I would've spent my money on a different laptop. It has deleted hw assignment I had saved and the battery on the laptop is bad too. My old Samsung prime phone has better battery than this laptops. 3 hours and it will need to charge. Th camera on this laptop is bad too. This is the worst laptop I have ever come into contact with. Do not buy this CPU I apologize if the grammar is bad but like I said some of the keys don't work properly

    Do Not Purchase

I have been waiting a long time to be able to purchase a computer and when I finally had the opportunity to, I came across this one. I am highly disappointed with my purchase. It is barely the second day of owning it and it is already crashing. I was just writing an essay for school and it crashed and I wasn't able to recover my essay. I'm very disappointed. I do not recommend this computer. It will frustrate you.

    should have stuck with Dell

I bought this laptop in July of 2016 and believe me when I say I have never regretted anything more. My kid has an Asus that is great, so I really thought I was upgrading from my old computer. When I say my 7 year old HP ran better I'm not joking. It freezes, it has boot issues, it will start and then just do nothing no matter what I do. I have done literally everything I could to fix it short of paying someone else to work on a laptop that is still so new it makes me sick, because I use it once every few months thanks to its inability to do its job. I hate this laptop with a passion. I'm currently on chat with Asus to see if anything can be done, but only so I can sell it. I'd rather light it on fire. I'm replacing it with a Dell.

I purchased this model and within a day had a white screen using the internet. Returned the unit and received a second one. Within a day the second unit powered up with a blank screen. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Complete pile of garbage sold to me by Best Buy

Bought two of these for my daughters at college. Thankfully we had the protection plan, which covered the first one when the screen crapped out. The second one had the plastic hinge cover break (Google "Asus hinge cover problems"), then the screen actually fell out of the laptop cover. Of course they were out of warranty. Highly recommended by the Best Buy personnel. What a complete mistake buying anything Asus and trusting the people at the store.

Terrible laptop Driver failed in less than a year

I bought this laptop for college and had it for less than a year and the driver already failed. Initially the guy fixing it said it probably wasn't the driver since it was so new, but turns out it's just a terrible laptop. They will repair it but it will 2-4 weeks with shipping and 2-4 weeks without a laptop that I need for classes and of course Asus doesn't offer a loaner program. Don't waste your money on this laptop.

    Purchased 9/2016 - Motherboard died 2/2018

I purchased this laptop from Best Buy in Sept., 2016. Unfortunately the motherboard went bad less than 18 months later. Considering the cost for replacing it, I've decided to cut my losses now and buy a new laptop, but it definitely will not be an ASUS this time. Once burned, lesson learned!
