Feature Packed Laptop -- Good Price

I've owned it less than a week. Latest gen i7 processor, 16gb and FHD, not bad, plus I got a student discount, so it cost $804 plus tax. The one thing it doesn't have is SSD storage, but the 1 TB hard drive is reasonably fast, and I can swap in SSD later. Still getting used to touch screen. Track pad and touch sometimes behave erratically, e.g. the screen I was looking at suddenly minimizes (with trackpad) or there's "finger drag" where multiple items are selected in sequence when I didn't intend to do so (with touchscreen), and this is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I will monitor both behaviors and take the appropriate action should either become irksome. It looks great and the speakers are good. The Dell Inspiron 15 2-in-1 Touch (which I also looked at) is in the same price range and it does have 512 SSD, but its keyboard looks bad; doesn't have a numeric keyboard or backlit keys; and the speakers are on the bottom of the chassis. When I ran back and forth between the machines testing speeds (e.g. how fast Word came up), I honestly couldn't tell a difference. I didn't power them both down and up; the Dell probably would have booted up faster. But hey, you aren't powering down/up all day long.

    Beautiful computer

I really like this new computer. Graphics are fantastic. Touchscreen is amazing. super fast and computer lighting looks awesome. However I was disappointed by the battery life. I am barely using my laptop and my battery life is dropping so fast. Probably dropping around one percent every 2 minutes I use it. Also, there was no pen which was another let down. BUT overall the laptop is amazing. If someone can help me fix why my laptop's battery is dying so fast for a new computer, please help!!

    Horrible Fan

I had this laptop for about a week. I was excited to buy it because I was in desperate need of a new one. The bad thing is, I returned it today. The fan was so loud that it sounded like a helicopter. I was not impressed. I couldn't watch shows on it without it running hot and loud. Even basic use like browsing the internet would cause it to run constantly. I thought I might possibly get used to it or it'd calm after it ran for a while. It didn't. I don't know if this was a defective product or not. I assume not because I've seen the fan noted in other reviews. Plus, it kicked me off the internet 4 times today. And I had a difficult time getting adobe to work correctly at first. It was one thing after another. I wasn't the biggest fan of the power cord being on the right, not the left. But the touch screen was nice. The backlit keys a bonus. It was responsive. As 2 in 1's go, considering the price, I'd say you can get something better for the cost without the glitches the HP has. I would not recommend. Get something better that is quiet.

I have used this laptop for everyday life. It has been amazingly efficient, and I would definitely recommend it to those in college, or for everyday use.

    AWESOME Laptop

I recently purchased this laptop because I needed one that could process large graphic files without bogging down my computer and this met and exceeded those needs. I am working with image files 800 MB or more and it's a breeze to manipulate and process them. The Ink feature on this is phenomenal....I also use the pen to create my files in Inkscape and it's truly wonderful. I've not had to use my mouse yet...in fact haven't even installed it...Thrilled with my purchase!!

I purchased this three months ago and have had issues with battery life and overheating. Not sure if it's exclusive to this one laptop or all of the laptops in this line, but I am sorely disappointed.

    Keyboard Visibilty

    Posted .

Overall the performance of the device is OK. The 2 in 1 feature is awesome and great when you want to use in tablet mode. Visibility and key spacing ot the keyboard is terrible. The brush silver, while cosmetically appealing is not functional for low light use. The backlit keyboard is no help unless you are looing directly overhead of the keyboard. Spacing and sensitive key strikes make for constant typos when attempting to touch type. The previous HP ENYY I was very happy with for 5 years had a black backlit keyboard with plastic well spaced keys and back lighting that actually helped. Wish I could return this and find another with a better keyboard. Going to buy an external keyboard to use with this laptop when in low light and be more careful the next time I purchase a laptop.

    Okay for Short Term

Don't expect this laptop to run for many years. The motherboard failed suddenly around 2-1/2 years. I have other laptops (MSI, Acer, and Toshiba) that are 5-10 years old and still running fine. I used those more heavily than this one, including running 3D modeling software and occasional gaming. I was expecting to keep this HP for awhile, primarily for travel and general use at home.

Not a reliable product. After a few years the Hard drive died and you have to replace the computer.
