    Worthless for Limited Edition Consoles/Controllers

I got the protection plan with the Halo Edition Xbox Series X bundle for insurance and just in case something happens. Immediately after opening the box it came with a faulty controller where the d-pad does not register down at times. I contacted my local Best Buy told me to work with Microsoft as it is limited edition, but told them I had the Geek Squad Protection and they scheduled me for it, giving me hope. I went to my appointment and the Geek Squad member took a moment to determine what to do and I mentioned possible replacement. He was able to place in a ticket with the warehouse on swapping out a replacement controller (exact Halo limited edition one), giving me a little more hope. A couple of days later, I got an email from Geek Squad saying they do not have the controller and could not fulfill the replacement... but they would reimburse me if I was able to purchase the controller at another retailer and I provide the receipt... Only problem being that the controller is only bundled with the LE console which is hard to find. It took a moment with customer service submitting a complaint, but I was glad they canceled the plan and refunded me my $80 (which to me with the experience would have been a total waste). Horrible experience and asinine for Best Buy to sell the protection plan if they could not fulfill the issue at all with limited edition consoles.

Bought to the two year service plan with xbox series x. It was a little pricey and hopefully I will never have to find out how good it is.

I always get a warranty when purchasing a console. I think it's a very good investment. My only gripe is that I let my warranty expire by 3days but you guys refused to make an exception. I have been a loooooong time customer and was very aggravated at the situation. I ended up having to buy another xbox and a warranty instead of basically trading out my old, outdated, broken down old xbox.

Hi SAVAGE – I’m sorry that the timing worked out that way. Once a Geek Squad Protection plan expires, it cannot be renewed or extended. Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective on this. It will help us get better in the future.

Great service to have to protect your electronics that you just bought and are expensive in case of accidental damage. However as good as the service is it is often more expensive than programs offered from other stores.

    Giving me the run around

So I bought a Xbox console and the controllers left stick went out within a year of my 2 year warranty. I made an appointment went into the store with it and the guy orders me a replacement. That was July 24th 2 months ago today is September 23rd. I have called multiple times basically every couple weeks and have been told by the store to call geek squad customer service, because the warranty is theirs and geek squad customer service keeps blaming the store and telling me to talk to them. On multiple calls the best answer I've gotten is to just keep waiting. I've done the same dance with them like four times now. Today when I called I started with geek squad customer service because they are really the only ones who have even acted like they did something. The woman was supposed to be calling the store, which doesn't open for another hour, presumably she could not get them to pick up at which point I still on hold was connected to the stores automated answering system only for it to tell me what I already knew that the store was not open. And it finally affirmed to me what I've been feeling that I am just going to get the run around indefinitely and will probably never see a replacement for an Item that is under warranty.

Hi Daniel. Thank you for taking time to share this with us. I'm very sorry to hear about this huge delay in getting a new controller to replace your defective unit. This is definitely not the level of service we aim to give you. We have Agents standing by to help. Please give us a call at (800) GEEK-SQUAD or (800) 433-5778 to get started.

The Geek Squad manager, Gabriel, at the Auburn location, needs training on customer service. BEST buy's chat box, 800 customer service and in store custkmer service need to get on the same page. They all said something different.

I purchased a Xbox One S in June of this year. It quit working so I took it back to BestBuy. They told me that I had to use my Geek Squad Protection to get a new one. I thought this would be no big deal, except I had to purchase a new protection plan for the new Xbox One S for around $60 to protect the new one. The system was not even 6 months old. Beware of the Geek Squad Protection Plan

I purchased this thinking that if anything happened to my Xbox One it would be repaired. Instead when I scheduled a repair they took my whole console with my game that was in the disc drive. They did refund me but on a best buy store credit card. I didn't appreciate that because I didn't pay with a gift card i purchased it with cash. So I couldn't even get a replacement system and the warranty still had a year left on it, which they didn't refund. Not did they return my game from the system so I basically got screwed .

My son purchased the protection plan. I normally don’t buy, because if it a good product it shouldn’t within 2yrs.
