I wasn't given specific details about what exactly is covered with replacement plan but was told it covers a lot. I figured it's worth it if something goes wrong. And if they don't have this model available then I get the newer version. That works for me.

Worth it when you’re spending over $200. Better safe than sorry. I have yet to need it but if I do, than at least I have it.
