Weigh cost and options before buying.

I purchased the 3 year replacement for my GoPro and weighing the option of the Geek Squad Protection vs the GoPro Subscription I would probably go with the folks who made the product. First of all with the GoPro plan you get unlimited cloud storage free. Having that backup in case my camera is lost or stolen is big. I took my GoPro Max in due to an issue with it not recording at times. I was told no Geek Squad Tech was working and that I could schedule to have my item brought in and ultimately sent off for repair. The morning of the appointment I get a random text that said my appointment was cancelled with no explanation. With GoPro you contact them and they send you a label and you get a refurbished camera back in a few days. Had my appointment not been canceled I would have had to return to the store then again go back to the store to pick it up. And as luck would have it my closest BB is on a soft open while they renovate so this service is not available there so I had to drive an additional 20 minutes up the road to get to the next closest store. Now you are paying $50 a year unless you catch a deal on the GoPro Subscription which puts you $30 more than Geek Squad. Also you have to pay a Trad-In fee which will be up to $99 depending on the device but it's hassle free. Also you can do this twice a year. With the Geek Squad plan it's one and done and you have to pay another $120 after you swap the camera out and it is at their discretion if you devices is replaced or they determine it is functioning as intended. Now if this had been a replacement plan I would say absolutely go for it but as a "repair" plan I would go with the manufacturer.

    Accidental Protection plan misleading

Sales rep convinced me to purchase a three year accidental protection plan to cover my GoPro Hero3. Sales rep told me that the policy would cover damage as well as loss of the camera due to mounting issues. I thought this was too good to be true and I questioned the sales rep about the policy. He repeatedly stated that it would cover loss of the camera. Today my son lost the camera due to the mount failing while skiing in deep powder. I called in to the Geek Squad to report the loss and submit a policy claim. I was informed that the policy does NOT cover loss of the camera. Obviously I am very disappointed with the sales rep and the misleading information he provided about this policy.

This is a pretty good warranty. Covers accidents. Pretty good.

    Not worth it

Just called for them to check on a fridge that is less than 2 years old that hasn’t made ice in half that time. Said I had to pay a diagnostic charge to have someone check on it and ultimately told me I have to call the manufacturer. AND they have the nerve to try to auto renew Best Buy protection. Luckily my bank flagged it as fraud which it clearly is.

    Delayed again

Do not let Best Buy's shipping times fool you. I ordered this with them once again saying next day delivery but delayed (the 2nd order in a row delayed). Now they are saying should I have in 15 days. Funny, if you look at the item currently it sill shows next day delivery. Do not fall for Best Buys shipping promises like tableI have, order from a reputable company.

    NEVER GET PROTECTION PLANS HERE

All the protection plans are worthless for any type of monitor or TV they just gonna tell you it's cheaper to buy a new one and it's nothin they can do. Doesn't even make sense to push product replacement / repair if you not gonna do either AFTER you have my money

Read The Fine Print Before Buying This Plan!

Be very careful before shelling out money for this coverage as there are many caveats. For instance, the Sales representative in the store told me that it covers drops, water damage, etc. HOWEVER, it does NOT cover drops from "a balcony" (quote from plan) or complete "...submersion..." in water. Not worth it by a long shot compared to other plans from other stores such as B & H, Abes of Maine, etc.

I would give it 0 stars if I could

Most unreliable services ever. They never showed. Twice. I've literally spent money on a protection plan to end up losing money by having to take off work and wait for someone who two separate times told me they can't find the part. Both times, the manager informed me they have the part and he doesn't know why nobody is coming. This is borderline criminal at this point and is teetering on the edge of me filing a law suit. Do not buy this plan if you actually want your products protected.

    False claims of "protection"

I bought an LG Tone Pro with a discount. I had to pay about $30 to replace the product. My Geek Squad protection was discounted from $20 to $10. The product itself was also discounted, $70 (-$20 discount) to $50. Also, the day I replaced the product was also on a 'discounted day'. The person that I spoke with said I had to pay the remaining price, but I had insurance.

    Avoid at all costs

The SD door broke off after first use. It won't go back on and now renders this item useless. BestBuy won't take a return either, so I'm, stuck with an item I used once and doesn't work.
