Always buy the protection plan no matter what! I know it sounds like you are paying a lot but when you have high priced items, you want to protect them.

This is a basic insurance product, I have found in my dealings with electronics that usually a malfunction if it is going to occur, it will be within the first 2 years.

Best Buy's customer service has been pretty good in my experience, so purchasing a two year plan for my $400 printer, I feel, is a good investment.
