Haven't needed to use the geek squad protection yet however I love the peace of mind with this portable speaker.

I have always had a positive experience with the Geek Squad Protection Plan until recently. 14 months ago, I bought a Sony XBR75X940D television on sale for $3799. I also paid an additional $400+ for the 2 yr protection plan. Well, the tv needed to be replaced due to issues with the screen. The 940D model is no longer made, and was replaced with the 940E model which was on sale for $3999 ($200 more + tax). Since the 940D is no longer made they said that they could only replace it with a 900E model which was on sale for $2499. The audio on the 900E model is not as good as my old 940D and it lacks 3D technology. So instead of allowing me to pay the difference for the new 940E or refunding me the difference between the 940D and lesser 900E, they told me to take the 900E or take nothing at all. No refund of the difference. Just a new 2 year protection plan and $40 gift card. Keep in mind that I still had 10 months on my previous protection plan, so all I really got was a 14 month extension. So I not saying that you shouldn't get the plan. A replacement with a lesser model at a huge $1300 dollar loss might be worth not having any tv at all, but it's not the awesome plan that the salesman will try to sell you. There are other companies that will warranty your electronics.

Purchased a new headset and thought it was a no brainer to purchase the protection plan that was offered. After being rushed through the terms and conditions with a line behind me I was really satisfied. Then just 10 days later of light use my headset breaks after removing it from my head. I called my local Best Buy to see if they could do a replacement only to be told that there was nothing they can do as I was the one who damaged the headset and that my plan covered only internal issues. This is just after 10 days of use and felt like I was blamed for breaking them after just using my headset casually. I have loved Best Buy ever since I was a kid, the friendly atmosphere that has all my tech needs. I recommend it to friends and co-workers constantly but I no longer feel comfortable telling a friend or family member to shop here if they end up having the same issue.

Product has performed well on the last computer and I feel does what I need done very well on this unit

You'll never know, when you might need coverage.I found my self in a situation,where I didn't have protection for a DVD, and it cost me more money at the time than I had, a regrettably experience.The morrow of that story was,protect the things that are important to you ,for you' re never know when the unexpected may come knocking at your door.
