worst service by Geek Squad on OPEN BOX OLED TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited for holiday deals and bought an open box-Excellent Oled tv from Bestbuy.com. also bought geek squad protection for five years. within the first month, I realized that the tv screen had some defects. so I scheduled a Geek squad appointment to get it fixed. customer care representative told me that this will be replaced by the company as it is still under manufacturer warranty. on the day of the appointment, instead of coming home to Diagnose the tv Geek squad technician, he called me and asked for the picture of the tv and mentioned it was gonna factory be replaced by Sony. He asked me to pilled the screen from the corner(he thought there was a screen protector screen on the Tv) even after denying him multiple times, he asked me to pilled the screen while I was on the phone. and that made the tv screen break from the corner. and as soon as this happened, they just switched their opinion and asked me to go to the store and get the store credit and return the tv. I spend enough time finding a deal. drove 1 hour to pick tv from the store, and just with this incident, they asked me to go store again and return the tv and get store credit. unfortunately, no one was able to solve this problem on the phone as this was an open box, and neither best buy or geek squad system allowed them to make any arrangements. I felt like I bought a worry under geek squad protection. All I wanted was to get my problem fixed. my tv got fixed or replaced. but not a single gesture of customer service was provided by anyone. Finally, after multiple visits to the store and hours and hours of calls, I returned TV. I would never buy any product from BestBuy after this horrible experience. Returning money is not always a solution Bestbuy. Bestbuy should consider the situation and the inconvenience caused by the wrong instruction of the geek squad technician.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my 5 year extended warranty for a Sony 43" TV. The MFGR warranty was for one year (as which they never falter in the first year) and I admit I am skeptical about purchasing additional warranties in general. The "hook" was that if they can't fix it within a reasonable period of time - or I experience the same issue after a repair, BB will replace my set with a new, comparable model. With technology progressing at the current rate and considering the way models change, I figure I'll get twice the performance in a new (replacement) set at about the two year mark - depending on the quality of the product (do your research). Even if it lasts the duration of the extended warranty period, I have the comfort of not having the worry of a set failure for what I consider a very reasonable cost. It's the "you can pay me now, or pay me later" mentality. Just insurance, that's all.

Totally worth it for big ticket items!

It offers a full protection package and in my opinion it is better than the TotalTech. If you're buying a big ticket item like a TV or any appliance, ask the customer service to cancel your TotalTech from this item and add the geek squad warranty instead. Your TV installation will still be covered because of your active TotalTech. What I don't like about TotalTech is that you have to pay a deductible on certain things... this is like an insurance now...

Extended warranties, pros and cons

We purchased a Sony DLP set in 2007 from Best Buy and took the extended warranty. One week before the extension expired they had to replace the entire video engine. The parts alone were $1,500 and I don't recall the labor but it wasn't inexpensive. We were covered (I don't recall if there was a small service fee or not) and saved 6 to 8 times more than the cost of the warranty. Some say if nothing goes wrong in the first 90 days with electronics nothing will go wrong for many years. Well that's true in many cases and in other cases such as ours we have seen it's not true. You can look at this as insurance and weigh the annual cost of the warranty against the risk that nothing will go wrong. However, consider the fact that when something goes wrong with high tech electronics, especially in large sets, repairs can be rather expensive. It's a personal decision and also depends on whether you have the money or desire to pay up front. It worked for us in the past at least.

TV Warranty Worth It

Best protection plan from my favorite store
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am disabled and in a wheelchair, I purchased a 50 inch TV and almost 2 years ago and I thought that if I had an issue with it, but when I called about it they said that due to the size I qualified for in home service. The rep who came was very nice and helpful and answered all of my questions too. I plan to renew my extended warranty with Best Buy and I am happy that Best Buy now keeps a record of all of my purchases so I don't have to keep track of a faded receipt to make a claim on my extended warranty. I also got one for my sound bar and because they didn't have that particular type they said that they they will give me the next upgraded version of what I had.

Best Warranty

Geek Squad came through for me.

They quickly diagnosed the issue, explained the problem clearly and discusses next steps. The following day the agent who came to home informed me that there would be a delay in obtaining the need part and arranged for a complete refund of my purchase, service contract and taxes so I could replace my Hisense TV with a new set of my chosing. In the end, I have a new TV, a new 5 year warranty and almost $100.00 in store credit left over.

Bought a 4-Year GSPP - I'm using it 3 years later!

That's why I always buy a Geek Squad Protection Plan! I've needed to use the warranties on several occasions, and the experience was very satisfactory. Sometimes they replaced the item, refunded the purchase price, or repaired the item. I actually have a 3 1/2 year old blu ray player in the Geek Squad shop right now--under a 4-year extended warranty that I purchased for the item! This time they are repairing it, but that's fine with me. It's so nice that after using it for 3 1/2 years, now that it's not working my extended warranty is kicking in and more than paying for itself!!!

Warranties Make It affordable for all T v's And ap

What a buy at the time where inflation is terrible and everyone is having A hard time.. I think Best Buy for keeping the warranty price down low and affordable, thank you. Guys,

I have replaced a TV before and a refrigerator multiple times. One thing I like about the protection plan is they will come out to your home and repair your items but if it's going to cost too much to repair it there go ahead and give you a gift card or allow you to exchange it for something else. Just so happened this time I was able to exchange it for a cheaper refrigerator because it was Black Friday so I was able to use the extra money left over to purchase a TV. Do not purchase anything without buying a protection plan. There's nothing better than knowing that your items are going to be working for the next 5 years. In my opinion as many items that I purchased as you can see I'm Elite Plus, items are not made like they used to and without protection, i would be out of thousands of dollars.

Geek Squad has Always Had my Back.

When they came on the scene they had a fleet of black and white VW Bugs with their logo on the side . Everyone from the thugs on the street to the Excutives on the top Love these Nerds . Always polite and courteous and for the older crowd trying to learn very very patient . I will work with these people until the end of time.
