    Geek squad got me a new tv the next week

    It was the day before thanksgiving and I turned my tv on and the screen was white. I had only owned it for 13 months. I unplugged it and tried to turn it on and it wouldn’t work. I looked up the number for geek squad and spoke with a really nice person. They replaced my tv for free I just had to repurchase the geek squad for my new tv because it wouldn’t transfer over.

    Im an insignia fan. I actually purchased a used 65" right before I got married. Uhm 09 i figure. I bought this tv on sale last summer because the sound was going in and out on the old one. I was more than happy when I found this on massive sale!

    Extended warranties, pros and cons

    We purchased this extended warranty because of a past experience. We purchased a Sony DLP set in 2007 from Best Buy and took the extended warranty. One week before the extension expired they had to replace the entire video engine. The parts alone were $1,500 and I don't recall the labor but it wasn't inexpensive. We were covered (I don't recall if there was a small service fee or not) and saved 6 to 8 times more than the cost of the warranty. Some say if nothing goes wrong in the first 90 days with electronics nothing will go wrong for many years. Well that's true in many cases and in other cases such as ours we have seen it's not true. You can look at this as insurance and weigh the annual cost of the warranty against the risk that nothing will go wrong. However, consider the fact that when something goes wrong with high tech electronics, especially in large sets, repairs can be rather expensive. It's a personal decision and also depends on whether you have the money or desire to pay up front. It worked for us in the past at least.

    I had geek squad protection on my previous two televisions. Both TVs went out at about four years old. They could not find parts to repair either television so they simply reimburse me the full price I paid for the TV. What more could you ask for.

    So, this is a little tricky for me. We love Geek Squad and my husband has an account as well. We had to purchase this GS Protection because we could not purchase our new TV and get the appropriate protections under my husbands account with GS. No matter how we tried to place the order under my husbands name, Best Buy could not get the full warranty to show up because my husband already had GS and it wouldn't allow the full warranty to kick in on the new TV??? So, the only way to get the full warranty was to purchase the TV in my name and also start a GS account in my name, and now we have two. Not terrible, but I think this is a little shady and there should be a workaround. Speaking with the GS reps that came out to deliver and install, they also agreed that this shouldn't have been an issue.

    Purchased warranty protection for tv, just in case. Luckily I haven't had to use it. Staff was very helpful with all my questions.

    I buy the geek squad warranty when it makes the most sense, usually when I spend a significant amount of money, and the manufacturer warranty is only one year.

    In two years, I’ve never had a problem they couldn’t fix. Whether in-store or with at-home service, they always deliver. If you’re looking for reliable tech support, Geek Squad is a great choice!

    I will not make a purchase at Best Buy for any major products without buying the protection plan. I have replaced a TV before and a refrigerator multiple times. One thing I like about the protection plan is they will come out to your home and repair your items but if it's going to cost too much to repair it there go ahead and give you a gift card or allow you to exchange it for something else. Just so happened this time I was able to exchange it for a cheaper refrigerator because it was Black Friday so I was able to use the extra money left over to purchase a TV. Do not purchase anything without buying a protection plan. There's nothing better than knowing that your items are going to be working for the next 5 years. In my opinion as many items that I purchased as you can see I'm Elite Plus, items are not made like they used to and without protection, i would be out of thousands of dollars.

    This plan is for five years so it gives the freedom to have my tv services and save me money on the cost of repairs.

    Was not too difficult to get the old TV looked at and the report submitted for review. The answer to replace came within a few hours. It was too expensive to have the Geek Squad just hang it on the wall so I choose to just have the delivery and haul away done as outlined in the warranty. However, I was never told that I was responsible for taking down the old TV from the wall. This caused over a 3 week delay in finding someone who could take the old one down and replace it with the new one. This cost me more money that I should not have spent other than installing the new one since I had the Warranty. This was on top of waiting over 3 months of getting this resolved due to the suspension of home visits.

    A week prior to getting the protection i was offered it at the time of purchase and i got an extremely cheap open box 4k sony tv and the price of it brand new was $2500, the open box item i was buying was $700 and at the time our purchase they wanted to charge me the protection of a $2500 tv which came out to $550 for 5 years protection, so i went in a week later and a young man helped me get it figured out and I got the protection for the price that I had actually paid for and I was very very satisfied!!!!
