In 2 cases over the last 15 years have I ever used one and it wasn't really worth it. The product was outdated and I simply chose to upgrade to the newer version.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great to have if your tv goes out at four years like one of our old one did...but if you somehow damage your tv getting it back to the store after it goes out then it voids your warranty. This warranty does NOT cover damage. Be careful.

The idea is that you're not expecting the product to break, you're putting down a bit extra so that if it does, you don't spend a lot more to replace it.

It couldn't be fixed so we had to get a replacement and of course, they didn't have that TV anymore so we had to pay the difference and get a different TV.

Since I have 3 kids, this seemed like an easy choice.Unfortunately, I found out today that isn't the case. One of my kids lightly hit my screen. It cracked. Best Buy customer service and Geek Squad were of no help. The so called "protection plan" covers pretty much what the 1 year warranty cover covers. And then when you ask for a refund on the extended "protection" they give you a pro-rated refund because even though your tv is covered under the manufacturer warrent for a year , your " extended protection" begins the day you bought the tv. We spent a lot of money at best buy. I guess to them, we are just a drop in the bucket though. Nobody could make this right.
