The sound on this was terrible. About 5 minutes into watching a show , all I heard was a swooshing sound coming from the speakers. I got on line to trouble shoot - low and behold this was not a NEW problem. Would not recommend this.

Insignia is what I can assume to be best buys brand of televisions. The 28" model is perfect for bedrooms, but for 10 dollars more you can upgrade to the 32" model. I , the other hand, thought that was a tad bit big in my bedroom considering it's sitting about 6 to 7 feet away. I have used both a roku and a playstation 3 on it and I will give you the good, bad, and ugly on this model before you go out and buy it. The Good - decent picture. not the best out there but once again these are budget televisions. - really great sound quality. nothing tinny or washout out. no need for a sound bar if it is not a living room television. - sets up on 2 legs instead of one stand. way more sturdier and gives it a fair bit more height to it. - true 60hz. as far as i can tell there is no difference in movement compared to my sony CRT. most name brands will slice the true hz in half and give you a false image with artificial hz. this cause stuttering imagery on the television. The Bad - needs calibration. everything is too much when it comes to default settings on the TV. game mode, movie mode, ect suffer from too much sharpness and brightness out of the box. calibration dvd is highly recommended as there are 100's already that have this feature on it. - no extra features. there is no noise reduction, live color, contrast filters, none of that on this set. this is probably how costs were cut. The Ugly - though this offers component inputs you will not get 480i out of these models. I have had 3 of these tv's from the 32" the 39" and 28" and all display 480i discolored and flickering black and white. you can however, get a 480i through regular AV cables. I don't know why this problem has not been addressed and fixed. The verdict for the prices on these, if your going to run hd devices on them they are highly recommended, sure the picture quality isn't on par with a sony or a samsung but for half the price it does beat a lot of name brand TV's out there... just without the bells and whistles.

Mom loves this TV. After having her old TV for 19 years she is happy to be in the 21st century with this unit. At first I hooked it up for her and the analog pic was screaming for an HDMI cable and once I connected it...wow! Great pic...great sound...so crisp and clear! It is an ideal purchase. I am very happy I got it for her and so is she!

I purchased this TV to replace an old dying Panasonic. Well you get what you pay for. The picture on this TV looks great when you are looking straight in front of it. Move just 30% to the side and it looks bad. All washed out and bad colors. My son noticed it as soon as he walked into the Kitchen. He exact words were I don't like that picture. Looks bad. I actually think I may have gotten a bad TV but the time period to return had past because I bought it on sale. I sold it and bought a SAMSUNG. There is no comparison. Save you money and buy a a better TV

Maybe ok for some, but audio output is poor

Was looking for a replacement TV for the bedroom. This fit the size and budget. Unfortunately, hooked it up and could not eliminate this strange background audio issue that was evident on all channels, worse on news channels. Tried every audio option in menu- no luck. Everyone in family noticed it- not just me. Noticed under the specifications section they simply list "speakers" with no details, whereas other sets list the size of the speakers, surround sound STS, etc. Guess I should have researched that better before I bought it, but didn't think it would be this poor with regular speakers. Had to return it. Picture was okay.

Purchased this unit as a 2nd TV. I have been impressed with the picture quality. Colors are bright. The sound could be better, I have connected it to a sound bar to improve the sound.

    Decent for a niche size

It was better than I expected but ultimately I couldn't justify this over a larger television for a little bit more money. The viewing angles without color shift were not wide enough either so it didn't quite work as a bedroom television. I ended up returning it for a 40" TV.
