I highly recommend buying the extended warranty when buying a printer

I have now made it a habit to buy a protection plan for every high value electronic device I purchase. I learned the hard way (teen son, 3 laptops in 3 years) that this more than pays for itself. These plans pay for repair or replacement, as long as the damage is accidental (so don't throw it in water and expect them to repair it). The only problem I have with this plan is that if they do have to replace the device, you have to buy a new protection plan. Otherwise I would give this a higher rating.

It's always a good idea to buy a replacement plan.

They will either replace the item with same item if available or will find something similar.
