If your Ring app says your Ring device is "not connected" to solar, we suggest making sure you update your Ring app to the latest version. Then try plugging in the USB-C connector again. Press firmly to make sure the connector is fully plugged into your device.

Ring solar products require direct sunlight to stay charged and provide power to the device. If the weather is cloudy or it rains or snows, this would limit the direct sunlight your device receives, which would lessen the charge. It sounds like your Ring Solar Panel is not providing a charge to your Ring security camera. The first thing you will want to check is that the Ring app shows your device is connected to solar. If it does not, try plugging in the USB-C connector again. Press firmly to make sure the connector is fully plugged into your device.

If your battery life is still relatively short even with the solar panel installed, your Ring device's daily activities and subsequent power drain are more than the solar panel can provide. If you receive a lot of motion events in a day, try adjusting your sensitivity to reduce unwanted motion.

Keep in mind that Ring solar panels require direct sunlight. Filtered or indirect sunlight through the clouds will not provide a charge to your Ring devices. While your solar power device will extend your battery’s life and the time between needed recharges, it does not eliminate the need to recharge your battery. Ring solar devices require 3 to 4 hours of direct sunlight a day. If the weather is cloudy, or you get a lot of snow, this would limit the hours of direct sunlight your device is receiving, which would lessen the charge.
