In the entire day that the sun shines on it, the battery only lasts half a night to charge.

      Hi JoseR.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring security camera. The Ring Solar Charger was certainly intended to extend the battery life on your Ring security camera, so you can rely on your security device for longer periods of time without recharging the battery. We are eager to provide you with a solution for the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the battery of your Ring Security Camera is not lasting as expected. In order to extend the lifetime of the lithium-ion battery, your solar panel will not begin charging your battery until its percentage drops below 90%. You may see the solar device’s status as “Not Connected” in the Ring app when your battery is over a 90% charge, and this is normal. Ring solar devices require 3 to 4 hours of direct sunlight a day.

If the weather is cloudy or you get a lot of snow, this would limit the hours of direct sunlight your device is receiving, which would lessen the charge. Colder temperatures can also cause excessive drain on your lithium-ion battery.

If your battery life is still relatively short even with plenty of direct sunlight, motion events are probably draining the power. Try adjusting your motion sensitivity slider and optimizing your motion frequency.
