TV Purchase Extended Warranty

Feel better about a TV with extension to the typical warranty.

2-year Geek Squad warranty

I just don't like the fact that the TV come with one year warranty, so as soon as you purchase The Geek Squad protection, the protection cards immediately, so I basically only got one year protection. Not not a good idea in my book. It should kick in once my one year warranty is over that came with the TV, so I thought.

got it as a pc monitor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.looks and feels nice except for the tv stand. tv stand base is nice and heavy and metal. but the shaft and mount is plastic holding a ~50 pound tv. therefore it wobbles as you set up or whenever you touch. out of the box settings are ok but its annoying to find the right settings especially if you want to get rid of the stutterrinf on fast moving objects. also annoying how intelligent mode is not always the best, so i end up going back and forth between intelligent mode on and off. but when its off you have a myriad of settings to mess around with which gets annoying furthermore. so you either always have to compromise something using their preset settings or adjust/edit settings everytime you watch something different. so unless you are constabtly going to watch the same type of things, you may spend more time than you want messing with settings. the biggest thing that bothered me is when you see bright and still objects, you see like pixels or dots moving. like when u try to see how detailed someones pores are, you also see dots moving so it seems like you have a damaged tv? im not sure how to explain it or if it is a problem but it bothers me.

The first time they repaired my television on site (my home), the technicians both times brought their own folding tables and cloths to my residence, the second time the parts were no longer available so the technician had Best Buy credit me for a replacement Television. I highly recommend this service. I just bought a 50" bedroom TV (Dec 12, 2023), and guess what I added on as a Just In Case...Geek Squad coverage! My thanks and respect to all of the unsung technicians that Best Buy utilizes to make their warranty incredible.

The Geek Squad is so Professional & Knowledgeable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Geek Squad agent I had at my house when my old tv died was so nice, really knowledgeable, friendly, and very professional. He answered all my questions about my old tv and more. When there was no hope for the mother board since the tv was 10 years old, he broke the news to me gently and did not try to sell me anything new. Then, of course, I wanted to hear about new tvs! The Geek Squad agent told me what he recommended and I was then really excited to go out to Best Buy and get a new tv since the prices have really come down in the last 10 years. I hate to buy anything unless I need it, so the Geek Squad agent explained all of my options before he would fix my old tv. It was obvious that the motto was "The King is Dead...Long Live the King" as in - the old one had to go and I had to buy a new tv. My purchase experience at Best Buy for the new tv was also really terrific. I did not feel rushed, the agents at the store, like the one who did my home visit, were professional, really patient and super knowledgeable. Thank you, Best Buy! Really appreciate you in the Tech World explaining things to me since I would not have known anything about old or new tvs w/o your Geek Squad agents. They are really well-trained and helpful.

Since this purchase was an open box, I was mainly concerned with the remote having many sctatches on the solar charging panel of the remote. A new remote cost more than the protection plan. I am very pleased with Geek Squad coverage.

5 year service plan

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK , got the 5 year service plan for TV, not sure if it is worth it for a TV like other products, was told if any problems I could swap out Tv and even upgrade, Tv had an issue took it in and then told no, they have to try to repair it first so had to take the Tv back and then call and set up service, takes about a week, they made a repair did not fix it, had to wait another week to try again, still not fixed so waiting on another week, what got me was the reasons they gave for the problem with the Tv,just didn't pan out, like after not quite two years of reception, it must be my antenna, while my other Tv's still got reception, then this Tv's tuner must not be as good as the cheaper models of the same brand that were getting reception but it was like anything but the Tv, I felt like they aren't going to let me get another Tv if there is any other possible reason besides the Tv, so now it is on me to figure out otherwise !" I" finally figured out or narrowed it down that it wasn't the tuner or my antenna because I got my signal back and narrowed it down to a USB problem that it seems no one can understand, so happy I got it to work again but my Tv still doesn't function as it should, could be a firmware problem but bottom line, I paid for all the functions and EXTRA for a SERVICE that wasn't worth the frustration and time that I have had to deal with, that $80-$90 could have been spent on a new TV and the time spent watching it, sorry !
