A good way to cut the TV cable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not yet ready to “cut the cord” to my cable TV service, but I’m getting there. I acquired this VIZIO TV to help with that process. We have several TVs around the house, so going cable-less means having several TVs with that capability. The VIZIO is TV #2 in that lineup. The picture quality on the VIZIO is excellent, and there are several shortcut ways to adjust it, along with a way to do custom adjustments. I have it wall-mounted on a white wall that isn’t very far from a window, so it receives a fair amount of ambient light during the day. There are preset picture settings that adjust for this ambient light that, for me, still look good at night. Things do wash out quite a bit when the TV is viewed from the side, but I have to be way to the side for that to happen. Otherwise, I see all of the movement, detail, color (including true black), and brilliance I could want. The Wi-Fi reception has been flawless, allowing me to enjoy all of the streaming services with no jitter or lag. Mirroring also works well, helping me get closer to the days of living without cable TV. One drawback I find to this TV is the supplied remote. This remote is almost as big as the one supplied by my cable company, but the buttons are much smaller, faintly labeled, and not backlit. There are some small raised dots on the main “up-down-left-right” buttons, but otherwise I have to turn on a light and put on my glasses to operate the remote (at least until I fully memorize their locations). In addition, I often have to click more than once to get the remote to function, even though I am using it in a direct line of sight from less than a dozen feet away. I have downloaded the VIZIO Smarcast app, but so far I have not gotten the TV to pair with any of my devices (a phone and 2 tablets) so that I can use them as the remote. My problems with the remote are not a deal breaker for me and, overall, I am happy with my new VIZIO and hope that it lasts a good number of years.

Posted .Hi Bobn. At VIZIO we pride ourselves on our highly rated picture quality. To make sure you’re getting the most out of you VIZIO TV, we’d recommend making sure your devices are connected with an HDMI cable, and are set to broadcast in 4K (2160p) or Full HD (1080p). You can also individually adjust your picture settings in the menu. For brighter rooms try using the ‘Calibrated’ setting, for darker rooms try ‘Calibrated Dark’. If you’d like any assistance adjusting these settings, our customer support team would love to help you dial in the TV to your preference. Just go to support.VIZIO.com and click on 'Contact Us'.

Good TV with GREAT color and picture quality.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always owned Samsungs but I had a budget for a new bedroom TV so thought I'd try this one. Before purchasing it, I bought a Toshiba Fire ... returned it, then a TCL Roku series 5 which was really good but lacked that extra pop in color that I was looking for... then this Vizio went on sale. I can't complain about the color or clarity at all ... awesome color POP and very vibrant and crisp. Set up was easy and sound quality is better than average. The picture on this TV is better than my Samsung 7 series for sure. So, there are definitely 2 cons ... 1) the operational "Smart" part of the TV is clunky and slow ... like Roku is a 10 and this is a 5 ... but it does work ok, but just ok. 2) Not that many apps provided ... especially compared to Roku platform. Most disappointing is No Google Play Movies App!!! Yes, you can stream from your phone bu using built in Chromecast ... but for me, having to use a Smart Phone App and stream it is a last resort. So ... my solution was to use my Roku + streaming stick. When I want more apps ... hit Input and switch to Roku ... for $39 problem solved! Last bit of advice ... if you can afford it and have a big enough table (I didn't and is used for in a small bedroom) ... then buy the 55 inch ... just a little more but DEFINITELY more brightness and more zones. I would rate the 55 inch Vizio M as better than TCL series 6 ... but again, a clunky Vizio Smartcast system but a PHENOMENAL picture.

Your app failed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ordered 2 TVs. Drove a half hour out of my way bc local store near me didn't have 2 in stock. Arrived to find out I could only pick up 1 bc you shipped the other one and there was nothing you could do even though you have both sitting there. Not convenient at all.

2 Broken TV's
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this to replace a old Samsung and reviews for this model were a bit better than the Samsung I was looking at. 1st one locked up and would not respond to any controls from remote or on the TV, returned it for another one only for it to do the same thing. Talked to Visio support and they never heard of the issue, offered replacement, have tech sent out or told to return it back to Best Buy. When looking through the reviews at Best Buy I seen another person with the same issue so I returned it and purchased a Samsung which is what I should have done in the 1st place.

Posted .Hi Retired2015, we're always updating our TV to have new features. This TV has built in 4k capable internet applications, lets you connect to hundreds of apps through built in Google Chromecast, and we've recently begun updating the TV to be compatible with AirPlay. Which features did you prefer on the older model?

Not the performance I wanted.
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV didn't really go as bright as I'd wanted to. Not only that but I purchased this TV for rich colors. The colors didn't pop out that much to me as much as I'd like it to. So I returned it and I am now an owner of an 0LED TV.

Not a good tv
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this tv curbside pick in April. I brought it home and the 4K is about average just an ok picture compared to other TVs. The real problem was after about a month the tv at times loses color and looks yellowish. I flip through the inputs to make sure it’s not the cable or the movies, and it was still happening. I end up having to turn the tv off and on a couple of times for the color to come back. I’m very disappointed with Vizio.

Big fat waste
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this tv specifically because it has Chromecast built in. The built in Chromecast only has partial capability. You cannot add the tv to a Google speaker group. My old Amazon Fire tv with external Chromecast toggle is far superior. Ridiculous misrepresentation by Google. And I loved Google. We have 9 other Google devices. Some of them are old. They all connect to a speaker group with no problem. But not the new Chromecast built in tv. Ugh.

Love it
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great TV, with a beautiful display. It was very easy to set up. Easy to connect to my cable box. I had to get an extra cord, but not a problem. The sound quality is good too. My only concern was the feet. They are very thin for such a large TV. Love having the ability to use my apps. Very pleased.
