Good bang for the buck!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV from Best Buy at Jordan Landing in West Jordan, Utah. I was not very impressed with the salesman. He acted very nonchalant, didn't seem very willing to show me the features on the TV or show me comparable models. He simply said, "Here it is. Let me know if you want me to fetch one for you." Fortunately, I had read some reviews about this particular model before stepping into that store, so I had a pretty good idea what I wanted. Still, he could have been a lot more helpful. Okay.... about this TV. What can I say that hasn't already been said? For $400 you really can't beat it. It's got 4 HDMI inputs, a 75ohm input for off-air or cable TV, stanard RCA-type left/right audio outputs as well as digital audio out, making it VERY easy to connect the TV to a surround sound receiver. Additionally, it has a standard, analog RCA-style audio left/right and video input (called composite). Who uses that anymore, you ask? I DO! I still play VHS tapes once in a while and this TV allows me to easily connect old school equipment to it if I wanted to. What it DOES NOT have is Component Input (Red, Green, Blue connectors). The stands which come with the TV are surprisingly sturdy. The TV doesn't stand very many inches above the stands, which means if you get a sound bar, you may have a problem finding one that fits directly under it. (Not a problem for me, as I use an Onkyo surround sound system with a set of Infinity speakers.) You can mount the TV on a wall if you'd like. The mounting kits sold by Best Buy are PRICEY!!! You can find mounting kits just as good, and for much less, at hardware stores. When I first powered on the TV, it went through a setup sequence, connecting to my home's wi-fi. (It will connect via ethernet cable instead, if you want). Then, it ran through a series of updates which took about 45 minutes. Yikes! So this will require a little bit of patience when you first turn it on. Allow it to do it's thing, get all the updates, etc. Once it finished updating, it was ready to use. This TV comes with several applications built-in, such as Hulu, Amazon Prime, Youtube, etc. One feature I really like is Pluto, which has a great selection of shows and movies I can watch for free. Can also broadcast your computer or phone screens to the tv, making this great for doing presentations. It has a built-in picture slide show that can be enabled if you like, for when the TV is idle. The picture quality on this TV is really good. I bought the tv to replace an old 53" Sony rear-projection analog. The difference is like night and day! The picture quality just blows me away! I like how it has a built-in color bar test pattern, and screen presets you can configure for picture quality. The remote control seems a bit cheap though. It's very thin, it doesn't have the same look and feel that my Sony did, but it does the job. If I'm not mistaken, there's an app you can put on your phone to control the TV, which I haven't explored yet. No, this isn't the absolute best TV out there, but for $400, it's a very good choice. I'm delighted with it, and I'm sure you will be too. One last thing; If you're concerned about how you're going to get this TV from the store to your home, I was able to fit it in the back seat of my Hyundai Elantra. It was a tight fit, but it does fit.

Posted .Hi GreenGrandma, typically if you're picture is appearing smaller due to the programming you are watching is in a older 4:3 aspect ratio. You may adjust this by going into the TV menu under aspect ratio. If that doesn't work- it could be because your device started sending a 4:3 aspect ratio, and you'll need to change it on the device. If you'd like some help please contact us at 1-(855) 833-3221 we'd would be happy to help.

I rarely write reviews.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are contemplating on purchasing this TV my fellow shoppers or window shoppers or whoever is scrolling through contemplate no further. I have been searching, researching and whatnot about buying a 4K TV and at the end I have chosen this brand and this model type. I have been thinking for days on in and I have finally made my purchase. It was on my budget and reading other reviews and customer reviews and etc. I have made a purchase without having little to no regret about it. I solely wanted a TV for gaming purposes for my Xbox One X and amazing 4K pictures that can blow my mind away. I haven’t been able to play my game on it but I have watched Netflix on this TV with recommended settings that I searched online to make my pictures better. I have searched online and followed the instructions and it was beautiful how crisp and clear the video is and audio is nice too. I rarely write reviews and I thought why not for this because other people’s reviews and expert reviews and whatnot that I have seen sort of helped me make my decision about purchasing items. This is a good TV and So fat I love it. I am extremely happy that I have bought this because now I am able to enjoy viewing great pictures and soon to be playing my Xbox One X and be blown away because I have high hopes that my gaming experience on this TV will be amazing. I shall say that this is a good TV. This was a good quarantine purchase I have made. I always purchase my items or things on Best Buy as guest which is shown under the Best Buy login but today I have signed up with my email just to write this review for this TV. I know I am blubbering on about but I just want the people to know that this is a good TV it is not the best out of all the other amazing TVs that are out but it is a decent TV that I had no complications with except for when it was updating and the screen went black and a sign that popped up saying that Comcast was not available at the moment. I was contemplating over Samsung the RU7100 55 inch and this TV and voila I have chosen this TV. I would have preferred the Samsung 8 series the 49 inch but it was not in my budget due to me being almost broke by buying other things such as my Xbox One X console, controller, games and other items and so this TV was in my budget range. I had this TV for now over about half a day and it has not failed me yet and I hope it doesn’t. I am speaking very bluntly because I was in a crossroad or shall I say dilemma full of thought about 4K TVs and which one would be the best for my at a budget but amazing to watch on. This TV looks good and even though it came and was delivered to my in a messed up dent up box and it looked as if it had been used when I was opening it up from the top because in the inside of the box the tape had ripped the protective covering and the cover being opened a little but I didn’t care I just wanted up to fire up my TV and see that 4K in action and it was good how good the pictures came out and looked. I messed with the settings in the picture and it looked disgusting so I changed up the settings that I found online that could give the best Vizio 4K experience and then boom amazing 4K picture with great details that were visible when viewing Netflix shows and movies. I just want the future shoppers or buyers to know that this is a good TV and when I searched up 4K HD TV on Best Buy this had not popped up and mostly the Samsung TVs were shown with a lot of reviews in the thousands and this TV in the hundreds. But I did a lot of contemplating, research and comparing between the RU7100 and this TV and due to the comments and reviews and expert reviews I do not have any regrets yet about purchasing this TV and I hope I do not have any regrets or complications with this TV or about this TV in the future. So my fellow shoppers just go with your guts on purchasing things or items after having all of the facts and realistic thoughts about the pros and the cons and buy what you feel is right in your heart. I really wanted a Samsung which cost a lot more money than this TV but this TV so was the Samsung RU7100 but I just went with my guts and bought this Vizio M series. After this hectic quarantine is over or when I am satisfied with its usage I will be using this TV as a security monitor in the future. Again I rarely don’t write reviews but here this is with my feelings and thoughts of this TV and I wish you all the best in your present and future endeavors, good luck, be safe and stay safe.

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wanted another tv for bedroom and was looking at Samsung 7 and this one. Already have samsung 7 series in living room and picture is great, but didnt want the same so I took the leap and purchased the vizio. In comparison both have great pictures and are similar in price. The vizio picture overall has the darker blacks and more detail. I've played the same videos on both tvs and although the samsung has a great picture the vizio is still sharper, brighter, and more vibrant. The design of the tv is nice but the Samsung looks more sleek. The one complaint I do have is the load time turning on the tv and loading apps which takes a while but is not a deal breaker. I've owned vizio tvs in the past but always stuck with Samsung for picture quality. Vizio has exceeded my expectations with their new lineup and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Not actually 4K? Crosshatch/checkerboard
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good: This TV has really good color gamut; superb! Nice to see that is back after the lethargic ones of recent. And black levels too, even without local dimming, are great! And nice to see they brought back tuners (we skipped Vizio for our Living room purchase, since they had yanked tuners and we don’t spend money on cable or satellite). Now the not so good: -Not full 4K on mid range brightness: I bought my for a PC monitor primarily. In grays areas (50% aka 8-bit 128), the resolution is effectively 2K not 4K, because the display alters color pixels on and 100% off, crosshatch style, instead of leaving them all on and dimming. I presume this was an attempt to get better appearance of high bit-depth (gradients) in dark areas. But it creates a cross hatch appearance on mid range brightness items, especially naturally varying/dithered regions like photos. I can actually see pixels from a distance on this 50in 4K panel, more than I could on my 32in 2K monitor. It is really noticeable for example on image thumbnails since you instinctively focus your eyes in to see their details. It’s like you are looking through a windows screen. It really prevents using this monitor for qualitative judging of image noise and detail… Some closeup photos of the effect on the screen: https://postimg.cc/gallery/25pnu2p5u/647be974/ Side by side comparison of a screen grab of what real pixels should be, and the photos of the same on the panel: https://postimg.cc/gallery/mnffz52a/ -Enormous software update: I’m stuck on a 3 megabit / second DSL connection (thanks, AT&T) so not exactly blazing. The TV rebooted at least 2 rimes after downloading updates. And on my speed of internet, the first one took THIRTY minutes (not “The update will take a few minutes”), during which time I couldn’t use the TV. Vizio can you let us decide when to update the firmware??? -Maybe minor, but the remote lacks the tactile feel so I find myself having to look at it to find buttons. Especially on the arrow pad. Vizio tried to hard to make it slim and sexy or something. All in all I’d say this is a good TV and Vizio is back in the game after cheaping out in the past on the panels and tuner and casting ability (though their app ecosystem might be better served with android). But, the crosshatch problem is kind of a deal breaker for me since I do graphic work. Since it is effectively 2K on photos, I could only give it 3 stars. I also cant "recommend to a friend" a 4K TV that only shows every other pixel in sub 100% brightness areas. @Vizio, can you promise a firmware update that would fix this crosshatch effect? It would make this monitor useful for me, otherwise, it's effectively 2K and I cant use it for what I need.

Nice TV Terrible service from store pickup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought 2 of these. Seem maybe a bit over saturated at the moment but, I haven't dialed them in yet. Don't think there's anything better at this price point. I will advise people to not bother with the Best Buy in store pick up option. They seemingly only use to be convenient for them not you. After waiting for almost 3.5 hours to be told that my 1 hour pickup was ready I called and was told that it wouldn't be available in my store for a week. That shouldn't mean it's available for pickup in an hour but ok stuff happens so I had my order transferred to a different store that they assured me actually had the TVs. After almost 4 more hours and many phone calls I just went to the store to collect my items. The store wasn't busy. I was the only person in line for pick up and they first tried to turn me away. These items were already paid for, they had them and they expected me to leave and wait for it to be convenient for them. Ridiculous. You'd think that calling might get them to expedite your order but you'd be wrong. If you want something from Best Buy just go there and buy it because picking the pick up option just makes it so they can deal with you wherever they want. It's in no way convenient and the last thing it could ever be is fast. If I could rate Best Buy here it would be a 0

Not Happy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Brought this TV about 1 week ago. Easy Set up. Great picture as long as your sitting right in front of the TV. The viewing angle is awful. If you move from directly in front of the TV, the picture loses color, to where the color looks washed out.
