Button Layout Confused Me

Would have been 5 except that the X & Y buttons and the A & B buttons are swapped - so don't match an XBox controller button layout. That's the con. Everything else is Pro. The size, the charging time, response, etc. I bought this on a deal of the day for tablet gaming. Diablo Immortal is only for PC and mobile devices. I used this on my Samsung S7 FE and it worked GREAT. Event htough you can play this using the touch screen, that doesn't work if you want to cast your tablet to your big TV - so this controller works great for that & fits in the laptop bag. Then I thought I'd try it on my smaller 10" Lenovo Chromebook & it worked great for that - I just have to remember where the "real" A button and "real" X buttons are for gaming. I'm sorry I didn't buy 2. I hope they go back on Deal of the Day again. Worth it!

Everything about this controller is great. I love the form factor and the responsive buttons. Only problem is that the pairing process is stupid. For one, the controller turns on with the start button, not home. You have to do a button combo to actually get it to pair with your switch, pc, ios, or android device. A toggle would’ve been nice.

The controller was easy to set up with my computer. It feels great in my hands. The layout of the letter on the buttons are odd but as long as you don’t think about it too much it’s easy to get past.

Awesome product decent battery life, instructions leave a little to be desired. Once up and running it is like traveling back to 1990s and crushing Bowser all over again or rescuing that princess Zelda!

I own two of these. They are, hands down, one of the best portable gamepads I've ever used. They're small enough to just throw in a backpack, they connect to just about everything, and the buttons and sticks are all great. AND it's close enough to the original SNES controller for all that old Mario muscle memory to kick in when you're playing retro games.
Things to keep in mind though:
-This works on PC, Android, iOS, and the Switch. But that's it. It's not going to work on other consoles, due to it not having the required security chips.
-While I endorse using it as a portable gamepad, it's not necessarily optimized for that. It uses full sized analog sticks rather than the little low profile slider sticks some do, so it can definitely get caught on stuff. Though on the plus side, the full sized sticks are really nice and even after years of abuse my original controller looks and works just like it did when it was new.
-Unlike pretty much every other peripheral maker on the market, 8BitDo really doesn't push their software on you. To the point that it's easy to overlook that it even exists. It does, and if you want to do any significant customization or button mapping, you'll want to use it. There are a lot of options to be had.
-Unlike many other mobile-focused controllers, there is not an included clip to hold your phone. That's a separate accessory, and it does add significantly to the bulk. Still worth it in my opinion, but if that's what you plan to use this for you may want to plan for it.

Works well with my laptop, although there is a bit of experimentation to be done to get the configuration right.
Have been able to play games like GTA V, the Master Chief Collection and Nier Automata without issues, but Half Life Source is not functional for this controller.
The button layout is different than some controllers, a simple swap in key binding fixes that, but it is an adjustment when glyphs are shown.
Some Steam settings automatically assume this is a Switch controller, which complicates things. Works best in X mode.

I am a child of the 80s, but I still game today. This might be my favorite controller. It connects to my PC, my iPhone, my Switch, and with a firmware update from 8bitdo Support page it now connects to my Switch 2. Hard to game long sessions without proper handgrips, but this is where I learned to game. Excuse me while I continue playing Silksong...

Very light and compact. I use this along with my laptop for when I’m traveling. Doesn’t take up much space in the backpack and connects very easily to anything I pair it to. I’ve used it on my PC, macbook, nintendo switch, Xbox 360 and nvidia shield and works flawlessly.

I mostly play retro, retro-like and visual novel games on my Switch, with the occasional 3d game. This controller feels comfortable with those games, especially because I prefer using the D-pad over the sticks.
It connected to my Switch easily, there was no need to install any drivers, unlike other off-brand controllers I've had in the past. Overall, a pretty solid little control for me!

This is an excellent controller that is very portable. Works well with Mac, PC, switch and Mobile. Can switch to each without the memory being erased which makes it simple to changes modes and reconnect to the system your currently using. Tested it on Steam, and other games on PC and it works very well. Highly recommend if you want a controller that is portable that is versatile.

Feels very good to hold and connects well. My one gripe is that the buttons are switched unless you’re using it on the Switch. I’m doing PC and it thinks it’s an XBox controller, so A is B and vice-versa. Overall though, very good.

I love 8BitDo! This is an awesome controller for someone looking for a retro style controller for 2d games. Feels great and is small enough to travel around with. I use it for my switch and MacBook. I personally like 8BitDo’s larger controller for most situations but this one is still great

Let's get ONE thing out of the way FIRST:
"This is NOT the size of an SNES controller"
Not even close. It's a young child's controller, like a toddler's controller. Wa-aaaaaaay too small for anyone over the age of 12.
Cons: THE SIZE. TOO small!!!!!
Pros: Perfect response time. If it were a bigger controller it would've been the most effective controller in the house. I was shocked at how responsive it is on the Switch! It made me realize I really do need a new Switch Pro Controller. I bought this just thinking it would be an SNES controller with analogs.
-Perfect shape, & look
-Good for a VERY YOUNG child

8BitDo has dpne ot again, great price for the perfect platformer control. Enjoy silksong* or any other game with precision controls. This is the one for you.
This does not have analog L + R, so it will play modern and game cube games sub optimally, buy the pro of you have any concerns

I love this controller. I bought it to throw it into my backpack. It's small. It looks like a Nintendo controller. But it has two sticks, triggers, and bumpers, so it works to play any game.
