The controller is a great substitute for a PS4 controller when playing PC games. I love the ease of the button placement and the rumble sticks are a nice surprise, but not overpowering. Would have given it 5 stars, except once in a while I had to plug and unplug the power cord to stop the rumble when playing certain games. Other than that, it's a solid comparison to a PS4 controller or any other console controller.

The quality of the item is unquestionably high. All of the buttons react as expected. There’s no stickiness. Buttons interface nicely on the systems I tested it upon. My only issue is installing for anything other than a PC or game systems is a nightmare. I’m still trying to get it to work on my Raspberry Pi 4. There’s no drivers for it on the 8BitDo site. Other than that, a fine item. A bit too expensive given its purpose though.

The design of this controller is timeless. d-pads may have gone out of style but 8bitdo embraces that, they're not trying to re-invent the wheel they're just giving you the best of what used to be. If you ever wonder what would happen if the snes and ps1 had a baby you need not wonder anymore.

I love this controller for 2D Side-scrollers more than any other controller on the market right now. It great for playing Mario Maker 2 on the Switch and indie games on the Switch/PC. I love the way this feels on the hands. Its also easy to pair in my experience so I highly recommend this controller.

    Solid pro controller alternative

This has been a good alternative to the pricier Switch Pro Controller. The d-pad doesn't feel quite as crisp as the pro controller, and the left and right trigger buttons feel like analog buttons and aren't clicky. I got it open box and it's in really good condition, so it's super worth it compared to the official pro controller, which costs twice as much. Also, I much prefer it to the even pricier joycons.

Very good controller, especially for retro games and other 2d platformers. Dpad is good. Controller isn't too heavy. Comes with a removable rechargeable battery that can be replaced by AA batteries. My only complaint is the buttons are loud/squeaky in a quiet room. They aren't as clicky-loud as xbox one/series controllers though.

Controller lags like crazy on Multiplayer

First of all I want to say that I love the feel of this controller, which is the reason I bought it. It works flawlessly for single player mode on the switch but whenever you go to multiplayer it starts lagging really bad. For example Mario bro’s the character will keep running when you let go of the joystick. If the controller is hard wired there is no lag but I would have got a cheaper wired controller if I didn’t want wireless. I had updated the controller and reset it to no avail. I even reached out to 8bitdo support team and they where not helpful they could not even answer if there would be a future update to fix this problem. If you want a good single player only controller this is not bad just any multiplayer is going to be a poor experience.

Works well, only issue is the trigger has multiple stages based on how far you press it (default requires about halfway depress to register on switch). Fortunately, it is adjustable with the software. Do have to use software when running on pc to ensure proper keybinds.
