It supplies power to the Nintendo Switch. It works. I sometimes play my Switch in handheld while my wife plays on the TV so if we're playing for a long stretch and my Switch starts losing power and I need to give it some juice, I plug this AC Adapter into the wall and then I can hook my Switch up and continue to play. Nothing more or less to it. Just like plugging in your phone and continuing to use it while it charges.
