Wish I had my old Chromebook back
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw that this was a Black Friday special, and I got excited. This model has a faster processor than my old Acer Chromebook. Although the processor is a lot faster than in my old model, the old one actually had an SSD. This model has a slow pokey cheapo eMMC (sd card). MY OLD MODEL WAS A LOT FASTER!!! I hate this model. It feels cheap and plasticy. The keyboard is mushy. I have to beat the tar outta the keys. And the down arrow feels like it's going to fall out. This thing is going back. If I can't find one with an SSD that's reasonable priced, I will be going back to Windows.

Garbage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is complete garbage. The screen contrast is horrible. The key board doesn't have a caps lock. It's made from plastic that has the texture of melted garbage bags. The keys feel like they were pre-lubed with 3 in 1 oil. The mouse pad I think is the worst part of it all. Most of the time half of the pad doesn't even pick up my finger as if I were wearing thinsolate winter gloves. Very poor crafting and cheap piece of junk. I was expecting more that this considering that it's an Acer and is a situated with Google Chrome. I am highly disappointed.

Great purchase

Bothersome issues on an otherwise great chromebook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have wanted a Chromebook since August, 2014 and have researched many models from Toshiba, Samsung, Dell and Acer. I finally zeroed in on the Acer 11.6 CB3-11 model and waited for the Black Friday sale to get a good deal. After finally buying the Chromebook from Bestbuy in the early hours of Black Friday, I was sorely disappointed to see the message, "Chrome OS is missing or damaged" on starting my new Acer chrome book. I wasn't expecting to see this on a new laptop. Anyways, after this initial setback, I downloaded a recovery image in a pen drive from my roommate's Windows laptop and then plugged it into my chrome book. It took approximately 20 minutes for Chrome OS to get loaded into the laptop and after that the chrome book started into the normal welcome screen. I am happy with the overall working of this chrome book, it is quite responsive with no noticeable lag. I love the white color of the laptop and the screen too is quite good for the price of the laptop. Now, the second setback I am facing is that when I begin to redeem the free Google drive storage that comes with this chrome book, I am getting a message that my chrome book is ineligible for this offer. I have contacted the Google support team for help and I am waiting to see what happens next. I am left with the feeling that I am getting what I deserve for buying this chrome book at a very low price in a Black Friday sale. Was this chrome book previously returned to Bestbuy and this is why I'm facing these issues? I guess I will never know. In conclusion, the perks offered with this chrome book have been fruitless for me and I will always need to have a recovery image in a pen drive which effectively kills the main purpose of this chrome book. Lets hope I don't face any further issues and I have written this review to let prospective buyers know about what can go wrong in spite of the great reviews this chrome book has received on various websites.

Excellent Product for Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop does everything I needed for the low price. I was needing to access remote desktop to get back to my home computer. I had been using my cell phone, but I was not able to get the right results. I was able to tether this to my phone and get exactly what I needed done. The only down side is the screen is not that great. I was able to see things clearer on my cell phone, but the laptop offered better functionality. I'm sure I'll find more uses for it though.

Great for 2 months than they break
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally thought this product was great been buying acer products for years and loved the brand until this. I bought 4 of these and they worked great for 2 months than the first one completely stopped working the mouse screwing up and would click randomly all over and did not work even if I used a usb mouse rather than a touch pad made a claim for warranty but unlike other companies you must pay to ship it to them to get fixed so that's me paying for their mess up on junk products. Then a month later I was on another one of them that I purchased in addition and I went to adjust the screen on the plastic casing so I could view the picture mind you I'm only a hundred pounds so it was a very lit touch to adjust it and crack the screen broke. I've owned a lot of pcs and that has never happened try to contact them about the warranty and they tell me that its physical damage and I have to pay them $119 to fix their mistake again. If I were any of you consumers I would not purchase this junk pay a little more and get a brand like Samsung or HP This is honestly the worst purchase that I've made in years and I am now just waiting for the other 2 that I bought to stop working. Honestly if I could I wouldn't even give them one star but they make you.

Great Chromebook for Students
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this product for three of our four children who are in middle and high school because most of their homework required online access. I got a great deal on them during the holidays. They were $99 each and well worth the money. They are very lightweight so if you're a bit heavy-handed, you may have some issues. Other than that, the setup was quick and easy. The battery doesn't need recharging often...maybe once a week. These were great additions to the technology we already have!

Love It!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When Chromebooks were first released I was definitely skeptical. I didn't (personally) believe that one would suit my needs. I was buying 10" tablets to take to work, and carry with me to the next WiFi spot. The problem is I always bought the EXTRA keyboard so the cost would skyrocket. I've been keeping track of Chrome OS advancements for awhile and then ran across the CB3-111. I purchased it online and pick it up in my local store that same day. It's been with me the whole time along with my phone! For the price it is a home run. It has the system resources to do everything I need to. Getting an extra 100GB added to Google Drive was a bonus too.

Great product for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it for my daughter so she can get used to chrome book in preparation for CA school's common core exam, which is administered in chrome book. This is a great buy. My daughter can access her school's google drive account and continue school work at home. The keyboard is full size. Screen is clear. And the price makes it a steal. Only complaint is the touch pad. It feels a bit cheap. Also printing is a bit challenging on all google chrome books. But what do you expect for $150? Every 5th grader should have one of this.

After the 1st year . . .
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My impressions, after the 1st year; I bought the Acer Model CB3-111-C8UB on April 03, 2015. In that time, I've had a few minor problems. For instance, the touch pad is overly sensitive, to the pad that, sometimes, I don't have to touch it at all! *IF* I'd had the money, ATT, I would've spent more to have gotten more; Considering the price paid, I received a GREAT deal, on a good product. The only other 'problem' [if you can call it that] is that I bought a 32GB MicroSD card, in the mistaken belief that the Chrome OS could use the flash memory as an adjunct or auxiliary 'boost' to the system memory; Turns out, no, [at least, not yet]. Maybe later, I think it depends on whether or not the Chrome OS team decides that would be worth-while addition to the OS. While on the subject of the MicroSD card, I was disappointed to see how poorly the MicroSD card slot was designed. I bought two different MicroSD card adapters to get one that wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb. The first one turned out to be altogether useless, because it's so thick it wouldn't even go in the slot. The second one works, but it still sticks out about 5/16"[0.3125"] or 8mm. Personally, I feel that is just very poor design, because the sharp, square corner jutting out has already caused me to drop it at least twice. The next section of this "Review" is the "I would recommend it to a friend"—I would, *IF* they could buy it for the same [or less] price I paid. All in all, I think I came out ahead on this, but I maybe should've waited; It's possible I could've gotten a better deal, if I hadn't been in quite such a hurry.

Acer Chromebook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as a Christmas gift for my 9 year old (at the time). It worked great and I loved using it also. But about a month ago, a majority of the keys stop working on the keyboard. Not sure why; nothing has been spilled on it. But I can not say if she has dropped it or not. I plan on taking it to the computer store soon, but I just haven't had the time. But rather than that, great computer!
