Second Chromebook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the original Samsung Chromebook 18 months ago and it is still going strong. There is a learning curve in regard to Chromebooks. I learned how to print via the Cloud without buying a Cloud printer. I set that up on the chrome browser settings on my Windows machine. I also downloaded Microsoft One Drive (for free) so I can view and edit all my documents in different formats. Another nice free program to download is "stay awake" which stabilized my chromebook the way I like it. This acer chromebook has a faster processer than my original Samsung Chromebook and the display is nicer to look at. All for $80 less than my original Chromebook. Shipping took two days and the chromebook was in perfect condition. Windows is a hassale to operate with the long boot times, critical updates and the need for a virus program. Chromebook is not perfect, but it's close. I am waiting for the day when I will not need a Windows machine for anything and my chromebook will suffice for everything I do. I sense that day will not be far off.

Excellent budget chromebook for everyday use.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used this chromebook for several months now and am quite happy with it. It does everything I used my old Windows laptop for except Microsoft Word, but no big deal. Good battery life (used it off and on for a week without a re-charge) and excellent screen with vivid color and brightness. Wish it was available in a different color than white, but I've gotten used to it.

Very well built
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the 5th Chromebook in my house. I have two Samsungs, Acer 720, and a HP Pavillion 14. I bought this one while walking through Best Buy and saw the amazing $149 price. Bought to replace the HP 14. Wanted a smaller one again with no fan. The battery life is great, in fact been getting better than stated at about 9 hours 15 minutes. The build quality is very good, even know its all plastic, feels solid. Screen is very bright and clear. Camera works great if you want to video talk. White color is growing on me.The chromebook feels a lot more solid than my original Samsungs, which my wife and daughter still use everyday. One is over 3 years old. Nice thing about Chrome is they are always updated and virus free. Also anyone in house can pick up and sign in as themselves, and it will look just like theirs. Switched to Chromebooks about 3 years ago, and almost never use our old windows desktop. Just remember Chromebooks are not full computers and you do most stuff online. You can do many things off line if needed. My college and high school daughters use them exclusively and have never needed anything else for all their school assignments. I was impressed to see that our school district has completely changed to chromebooks also, Bottom line great device for the price.

Great Chromebook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first wanted to buy a Chromebox, but decided to get the Chromebook instead since I can use it with a monitor as well as taking it on the road with me...I only needed this for browsing the internet and doing online business tasks, so I didn't need a Chromebook with high specs...The 2 favorite things I like about this Chromebook is that I can use with a monitor while the Chromebook is completely closed and it has a non-glare screen...This is perfect for anyone who only needs internet for business, shopping, info, etc...

Good budget laptop alternative
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted something in between a laptop and a tablet to use primarily for blogging and web browsing. This Acer Chromebook fits the bill. Simple design, full-size keyboard, decent display quality, and good overall battery life while in use. Two negatives -- it does not store battery power when in sleep mode, so it helps to remember to shutdown if you are not using it frequently; and it does not always recognize when I plug my phone in to transfer files so it takes a few tries. Other than that, it works well with all of the basic Google apps.

IT Pro Sold on Chrome OS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After trying out two high-end Ultrabooks and countless hours of researching Chome OS and comparing it with other "lower" end Windows laptops, I decided to take the plunge - and I am honestly blown away. I have yet to encounter a single site or app that will not play in Chrome OS - including Amazon Prime (which has smooth video playback) and even Pogo (in spite of previous blogs and complaints across the web of incompatibility). Evidently the folks at EA have taken note, as have others, or the next great and upcoming wave to replace bulky, sluggish, battery-draining laptops. My main draw was looking for a lightweight and portable "laptop" I could use for school, without adding 5 pounds to an already-loaded backpack. Also, the 9.5-10.5 hour battery life seems legit - with 84% (9:44) of batter remaining after nearly three hours of web browsing and Plex movie watching (yes, the Plex app runs flawlessly - even with Subs). Though I will not argue of the need for a Windows device for software like Photoshop or memory-intensive DAW music production (for which I have a high-end desktop PC), as that is not the need for this Chromebook, I cannot say that I miss the functionality. I haven't noticed any sluggishness as of yet, though that is not my intent. I am simply using it as I normally use a PC or laptop, and thus far, I am undeniably impressed - especially for a Celeron processor. Also, the keyboard is phenomenal, the touchpad is the best quality and sensitivity I have ever had the pleasure of using, and the bright 720p screen leaves little to be desired (other than the minor viewing angle adjustments here and there). The size is just right - not too big, but just large enough to accommodate the incredibly accurate and comfortable chicklet keyboard. The construction feels sold and looks sleek - something you can gladly display, not something you want to keep hidden away in your home. Though I felt I was taking a gamble plunging into Chrome OS with so many unanswered questions, let me just say one thing - I have found my new laptop (no, not my 2nd, but my primary) and I am sure it will keep me satisfied for many years to come!

Great machine for the price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this laptop as a gift, but it was perfect timing because I was in the market for something with the portability of my tablet and the functionality of my desktop. This lightweight, sturdy and highly functional device will have a special place in my backpack and will go wherever I do. Great product, great price. You won't be disappointed.

Great for Students
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my Acer Chromebook 11 about a week ago and I am impressed. This laptop isn't cluttered with a bunch of bloatwear and is a great tool for simply surfing the internet and doing basic, everyday tasks. It nearly never lags (although sometimes I notice a slight lag while watching Netflix videos, but only in fullscreen when the scene changes very abruptly). The only downside to Chromebooks, in my opinion, is that there is no way to connect a cellphone via bluetooth or a printer via USB. I think this computer is a great option for students looking for a simple device at a low cost.

Excellent little device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one interesting device. As an avid technologist, I wanted to give Chrome OS a try. I have to say that I am quite impressed with the build quality and how well it performs. Chrome OS is a exceptional OS with Linux at the core. It is fast and simple to use, along with an exceptional battery life (9+ hours). You can work offline with Google Apps, including mail. For those needing Microsoft Office, you can easily access Office 365. If you need something more specific, you can remote into a Mac or PC. I love the matted screen. It is sharp and is easy on the eyes. Going back to the battery...this things recharges fast. For the coder or those needing a shell, you can find an app to accomplish the mission. I would definitely recommend this device to anyone needing a cost effective computer. 98% of what people do with their computers take place via the internet. It is a great device and it will not disappoint. If you can afford it, I would spring for the model with 4GB of ram.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this only for taking notes at school or to work on papers when the family desktop was in use however this unit far surpassed my expectations and showed itself to be a outstanding unit for my web browsing and streaming as well and it does my homework and notes just as I wanted as well.

Update
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Still happy with my chromebook. I use a micro sd card to add local storage, but the sd card adapter sticks out quite a bit. I went on ebay and purchased "MicroSD-Card-Adapter-TF-to-Short-SD-Adapter-Support-For-MacBook-Pro-Air-TS" (I got a white one with a rounded edge), and it works great. Only sticks out about 1/8 inch. Paid 1.23 us, so just get the cheap one. Took about 10 days to get here from hong kong. Using an old 32GB card in it. Hope this helps someone

I love it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Chromebook does have several limitations versus a laptop(e.g. needs a Cloud Print ready printer to print directly from Chromebook), but for basic web surfing and Netflix streaming it is awesome. It is plenty fast and I have had no bottle-necking problems and often have 10+ tabs open and a Netflix movie playing. I was hesitant to buy the Chromebook but I love it!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before you buy this it's important to understand what you're getting, this is not a PC or a Mac, it doesn't have a CD drive and you can't install programs on it, but there are apps like Google Docs that replace Microsoft software nicely. I wanted something small with a nice keyboard to replace my tablet, which I used all the time around the house, and still have my Nexus 7 for travel. I've only had this for a few days but I haven't turned my PC on since I got it. I only ever use Google Chrome for my browser anyway, and wanted this for internet and email. 16G is plenty for me but you can add a card if you need more storage, and with this I got 100GB of Google Drive storage free for 2 years. I uploaded a movie to Google Drive and then downloaded it to my Chromebook, or you could install it with a flash drive since this has 2 USB ports. It's a very simplistic operating system but that's the beauty of it, mine boots up in less than 10 seconds and the battery life is incredible. My sister loves the Ubuntu operating system so she installed it on her chromebook and is a happy camper, so that's an option for people who prefer Firefox.
