Customers appreciate the ease of use, screen size, and long battery life of the 14" Chromebook. Many also praise its lightweight design and affordable price. However, some users have experienced issues with the keyboard and trackpad, and a few find the storage capacity to be limited. bought for my wife and son to use instead of the 1 laptop we've all been sharing. started up and setup quickly. easy to use and pretty fast for what it is. the unit is not as slim as a mac air or ultrabook, but it is relatively thin and light. quality feel throughout and the screen is nice and clear.

For most day to day functions this is a great laptop. Email and web browsing and facebooking are handled well. It's light weight and has a very usable screen size. I really appreciate the fact that most of my Android apps will work natively - just like they do on my tablet or phone. Perfect for my needs! AND - no real worries about viruses, since it's not Windows based. Who could ask for more!

    Excellent chromebook, but ...

The Acer 14 Chromebook is an excellent chrome book, but don't expect it to perform identically to a conventional laptop. It doesn't handle multiple open web pages or multitasking nearly as well as an admittedly more expensive HP Pavillion did. I really like the quicker start-up and easy reset when it glitches. Don't care for the small flash memory or its tendency to sometimes lock up when 0 seconds are left on a large download. Keyboard is full size and has a nice feel to it. Metallic case seems sturdier than most. Wish it had an SD card slot for extra on-board memory like many other models. Both of the USB slots are USB-3 though, so external hard drives are not too slow as an alternative. Be aware that they tend to not want to disconnect properly when you are done using them. I found the solution online. If you sign out, then sign back in, they will (so far) always disconnect normally by clicking the icon. I never had this problem with a windows operating system, but it is apparently not that unusual with some chrome books. Very good angles of view on HD screen. Overall seems like a good value for the price, if you are willing to adapt to the occasionally odd behavior.

I got this to be used to what was made for: Light weight OS that would run a web browser. Safe to use for kids with no complications and other stuff to worry about. The design of the laptop is very nice and solid. The display is very sharp and brilliant. The Chrome OS is very easy and nice to work with. I have an HP envy printer that Chrome OS can directly print to it. Battery life is amazing! So far I used it for 8 hours without charging it. Wifi coverage is very good! No complaints about it. Waiting to try the android apps on it soon. I know I could do it by switching to beta channel but no rush...

I wanted to purchase a computer for my Mom that she would have to try and break and one that is user-friendly for the technologically inexperienced. This is absolutely perfect for her as it allows her to access Facebook, play FB games, check her online bank account, check her emails, play solitaire, watch videos on YouTube, and other basic entertainment. This is not the ideal for someone looking to install different software e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, photoshop, etc. There are other laptops in this price range that will allow you to do all of that. However, if you're wanting an extremely user-friendly computer for basic Internet browsing and such this is one great machine. Great price too.

My husband needed a new computer. After discussing his "real needs" we desired to give a Chromebook a try. After reading every review of this and the other top machines sold by Best Buy I determined this would be the machine for him. He already used The Chrome Browser, Google search, AOL MAIL in a browser window, Facebook and YouTube. We had created several spreadsheets under Microsoft Office, and wrote quite a few letters and other documents. Google Applications handled them all perfectly. You must remember a Chromebook needs your applications web based. If you personally use a lot of "custom applications" that do not run in a browser you'll need an actual laptop. Everything my husband does can be web based. The machine itself is wonderful. He spends most of the day with it unplugged and the battery hangs in there with all day battery life. If you're not a techie I recommend a friend give you a hand setting things up. When I use this I notice the lack of a touch screen. If you're not using Google Cloud yet you'll want to get it setup and get your files synced ahead of time so the new machine is just LOG IN and GO. I'd never used Cloud Storage before and Syncing to Cloud with our old machine took overnight. I honestly believe this would be a great choice as a first time system for a child as an educational tool. We've had this machine since the beginning of February and most of the time my husband loves it, sometimes he likes it, and about once a day he wants to throw it out a window.. :-) I would highly recommend both a Chromebook and this unit as a TOP Contender in particular.

This is my second Chromebook and I am totally hooked. The fast processor and 4G ram give it all the speed you need for instantaneous browsing and multiple tabs. The metal case makes it clean and classy. The 32G memory is more than you will need for offline work and Google gives you 100G of cloud storage free for two ywars. The screen is so sharp and clear you will want to dial the resolution down a notch for anything but watching videos and photo editing. If you are thinking of a chromebook and you like a 14" screen get this one.

Our family laptop finally broke. We were using an old laptop for 14 years....yes 14 years. It was good enough for social media, email, and our basic entertainment needs. Going to Best Buy, where you can get a hands on feel of a new laptop with knowledgeable staff, we decided to pick up this Chromebook. Basically any model was better than the laptop we were replacing. A decent hard drive and processor, larger screen with good speakers, this Chromebook is perfect for our family's social media, email, videos etc. Price was good, and then was price-matched in store when it went on sale the following weekend. Added the extended warranty with the Geek Squad as well. I do like the 'shelf' feature where you can pin frequently used apps on the bottom of the screen for easy access.

As my daughter's laptop was getting slow and old, she inquired about a Chromebook (as they use at her school); she really likes the Chrome OS. I read-up on them and researched for a couple weeks, then went with this Acer given the value for the price. After I explained the limitations to her, she assured me that she'd be fine without laptop features and storage. My only complaint is that it appears that too many companies put eMMC hard drives inside instead of the better SSD hard drives (saves the consumer money), or at least there doesn't appear to be a large availability of Chromebooks with SSD hard drives. But, this should get her through high school before she needs anything better/faster for college. So, yes, for the money, I'd get it again and recommend to a friend.

This was so easy to set up and get started and I have not had any issues with using the chromebook. I also love that it is not too heavy even though it is larger with the larger screen. Great for the portable product.

Our first Chromebook purchase, our child uses one at school and really likes it. Our old laptop was about to die so we decided on a Chromebook. We use it for internet and word processing. Everything is linked to your Google account which I find very convenient. There is no disc drive, but I haven't missed it yet. There is no 10 key, so we just ordered one online that plugs in. This computer is easy to use, lightweight and the battery lasts for ages.

This chromebook is ideal for any computer owner who wants the best quality without paying $1000. I fell in love with chromebooks 2 years ago and since then I've bought one for my wife, daughter, a family chromebit, and now this. This is an all aluminum frame with full HD display. The speakers are loud and rich and the design is light and gorgeous. Chromebooks aren't PC's so don't judge them as such. The quad-core processor is more than enough power to run Chrome OS quickly without lag. No need to think you have to have an i7, again, apples vs. oranges. Also Android apps are coming to this laptop this fall, which will increase the value 10x!

I started with a Samsung Chromebook 3, but wanted a better screen size and resolution because I watch Netflix on the device. Going from the 720p TN panel from the Sammy to the 1080p IPS on the Acer, and a couple inches bigger was perfect! All aluminum chassis makes this thing look and feel worth WAYY more than $299, and it's snappy in real use. FOr those people who like Octane scores, this one doesn't score high (Ran a few times, and run from 7800-8100 tops), but those are synthetic benchmarks, and in real time using it, this does very fine. My friends who want new laptops ask what to buy, and this is what I show them and will get them to get.

Only had it a month but so far, loving it! The battery lasts 10-11 hours, it's delightfully thin and light, Super fast, bright/good sized screen. So far the only bummer is that it is not compatible with my wireless Canon multi-printer. It requires a machine "google cloud" ready but I knew this in advance. I've been Windows forever so this was a leap I was delighted to take!

I like Chromebooks. This one solves some of the limitations of earlier Chromebooks. The screen display is great. Easy to read; absolutely fine. Great speed. Really great battery life. I use this at the office daily. Great with google keep and MS Onenote. Excellent with Zoho Assist. Calmly Writer, MS Office, Gdrive and apps, and a load of other great programs run well. Love this machine.

Extremely fast and for the price and what it is, it's a great value! Don't a thousand dollar chromebook as it's not necessary. It's perfect for browsing the web and the google product allow me to write docs and pdfs! I've also installed linux (xubuntu) for developing and that works like a dream. Highly recommend it as it's light, sleek, and fast.

This is my second Chromebook. The first was an HP and no complaints especially regarding the price. Display was only OK, but fine for my wife. I decided to try this Acer, which is a step up. More Ram, more memory, and a much better IPS full HD display. The full HD display does have a couple of issues. Print is very tiny; however, you can scale web sites in the Chrome. Everything else can be scaled with the Cntr + Shift + - commands but this reduces the resolution. One step down from full HD is still very good. IPS has wide viewing angles is a superior display type. Battery life is excellent. Keyboard is fine but keys have a shallow stroke. I prefer using this Chromebook to several different tablets even without a touch screen. Oddly, does not have an SD card slot. Issues. Printing requires a Google Print capable printer and setup can be confusing. Fortunately, my printer is capable. This is not a Windows or IOS laptap so you can not run programs that you may need, such as Photoshop, Quicken, etc.

Easy to set up and use. Screen resolution good, I wish keyboard was backlit, I have a difficult time having my fingers on the right keys because the layout and size are different than my work keyboard so I have to look at the keyboard more often, especially for special characters- seems very good quality and I'm happy with its performance as a Chromebook

I was checking reviews and this Acer 14 was on sale at Best Buy and I checked the store out my computer said they had it in stock. Well it is so much more stable the my older computer and faster then a friends Mac. And is suppose to be more secure than a Mac. I am still learning how to use the laptop but am happy not having to worry if it will act up. Its a safe and cheap investment which I have been waiting to own and am glad I finally got one. I would recommend one to anyone who wants a quick and virus free laptop.
