      Dear Kimmi,
We are sorry to hear you are unhappy with your Acer Chromebook. Chromebooks are different from standard laptop products in that they are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and documents living in the cloud. Because of this they don’t have much for on board storage but they also are not expensive either. Chromebooks run off apps like an Android phone or tablet so you cannot download and install applications or .exe files. If you need to use third party software applications that must be installed on the computer, a Chromebook is likely not for you, where a Windows laptop would suit you better. With that said, we appreciate you taking the time to write this review. If you should need help with your Chromebook, please feel free to contact Acer support: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service-contact

I purchased this laptop 3 weeks ago and it has already mysteriously gone out on me. It worked fine for a few weeks of using it only 3 times a week and now my screen is just a bunch of lines. It appears as if something has gone out inside of the screen. Very disappointed.

So it's my first rodeo with a Chromebook and I've got mixed feelings on how I like it. Overall it's a nice basic laptop. It's got a cam at the top of the monitor like most laptops and although I have tested them, there are what appear to be 2 nice size speakers on either side of the keyboard. Since I mention keyboards,so far this one is lousy. It feels offset to the mousepad, like I'm forced to have my hands right of center. Nothing seems to be where my fingers want to go. When I want to backspace, I get a bunch of equal signs. The spacebar isn't very sensitive, I have to smack it with my thumb or my words are all together and then it's back to the equal sign problem. As for the OS. I use a lot of windows programs, so this isn't going to work for that. The battery life however makes this a great machine for taking to school and using Microsoft Office products and surfing the web. It'll be great to have in the den and pick up when I want to search for something. Also it will be great for email, facebook and those quick items you want to do online, but will forget about if you don't do them right now. As I type this, the keyboard is getting better. I still have letters not working and the space bar issue, but my fingers are finding most of the keys and hopefully with use it will be usable. I still prefer my Windows Acer laptop's keyboard over this one and I don't see that changing. All in all, this would be a good laptop for a student not needing Windows or MacOsX. Oh and that search key next to the a is a pain in the rear.

Really simple from box to setup. Took less than 5 minutes. Connected to Wi-Fi and was up and running. Does not come preloaded with all the useless apps peppered all over the homepage. It gets the job done with google docs. Operating system runs very smooth and is quite responsive. Good Battery was able to use for several hours and stand by power before having to plug it in. Pretty lightweight and easy to take on the go.

For most people nowadays, their use of computers is based on services on the Internet and for a good reason. You can not only do all your purchasing but also write your documents, spreadsheets and everything else online. Including basic photo and video editing. If you fit the above description, this Acer Chromebook is a great value. Usually, I would not recomend any computer with an intel Celeron if you were running regular destop applications but for a Chromebook, it works really well. In my tests, starting-up, internet and screens responses were very fast. Netflix was surprisingly smooth and lag free. Screen resolution is not very high but it is bright and clear. The speakers were a surprise to me considering this is a Chromebook because they are actually better than the ones that come with many high-end laptops. It doesn't have a touch screen but the touchpad is comfortable and responsive. Two USB 3 and HDMI ports as well as an SD card were also surprising for a budget laptop. Unless you are a heavy photo or video editor or a big gamer that require desktop applications, this laptop will probably do everything you need from a computer at a fraction of the cost. Since I'm in the heavy editor and gamer category, I'll have to also spend some time with my desktop computer but for everything else, this Acer Chromebook meets my needs as it should for many people.

      Dear Dob,
We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you; we can certainly understand you’re frustrated. Based on your comments it appears the LCD on your Chromebook sustained a crack or break of some kind. You can see examples of an internally cracked LCD here: https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2122
This type of damage does not occur due to age or normal usage of the device therefore this type of damage is not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. With that said we do understand this is frustrating for you and we want to work with you to see how we can help improve this experience. A decent Chromebook option

I like the price point of this Chromebook - it's low enough in cost to be accessible to those with smaller budgets, while still delivering the Chrome experience. The device is speedy and works well - I never ran into any issues on that front. It is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Furthermore, the keyboard is fantastic - great key travel and very accurate (better keyboard than my 2017 MacBook Pro, to be honest). Now, where the major downfall is with this Chromebook: the screen. You must be looking straight on to see everything clearly - look at it from an angle and it's difficult to make things out. To me, this is almost a dealbreaker and definitely takes away from the other positives of the device. Honestly, it feels like a device from the early 2000s screen-wise. All in all, it's a good entry-level Chromebook. It is a solid device, and hits on all categories except the screen (a big one) - if you can look past the screen quality, I definitely recommend this Chromebook.

    Solid Product for the Price

The Acer - 15.6" Chromebook is a solid entry for the price and runs the Chrome OS very well. The speakers are great for watching videos and movies. For music, the lack of a strong bass is more noticeable. The screen is adequate. The build is sturdy for being mostly plastic, but the size is a bit daunting with a wide bezel. That means it feels less mobile even though it's not quite as heavy as it looks. The addition of the HDMI port is a plus. Remember that this is a Chromebook. It will handle Google apps and programs very well. It's great for browsing, handling email & social media, viewing photos, and watching videos. It will handle creating basic word-processing documents, simple presentations and other light-to-medium tasks. It's not made for producing feature-rich, media-instensive files. All-in-all, this is a very solid product for the price-point. Especially if you're familiar with the boundaries of the system and it's intended usage.
