    Will it ever work properly?

We thought the Chromebook was a good fit for our elementary-school-age child to use, especially with the bigger screen (makes a big diff over 12-inchers). It would be nice if it worked. The Chrome OS mysteriously vanished about 2 weeks after the computer was first turned on. I followed Google's recovery instructions for the operating system, and after 2 weeks of trying with 2 flash drives, we gave up. The computer is now on its way to Acer's Texas facility for repair or replacement. What a shame.

Excellent value at $200. Great device for daily web activities; email, online banking, online shopping, stock trading, research, travel reservations, etc. Streams videos with no problem. I use Google spreadsheets extensively in my data research and consulting activities. This chromebook replaces a clunky old Windows desktop in our household. I am going to buy another Acer Chromebook 15.

Price to Performance. Acer 15 Chromebook, A+

I bought the Acer 15 from Best Buy and I am 100% satisfied . I use an inexpensive set of headphones , Sennheisher, that I got from Best Buy sometime ago, and I am very happy with what the Acer 15 sounds .To be honest, I am going to pick up another for back up. If you have ever thought of venturing into the ChromeWorld, this is a best of start.

The Chromebook is especially good for school except I did have some connection issues when I charge my Chromebook while working. For example on Zoom, It would log me out and glitch like crazy. Overall a good computer though.

Bought computer based on reviews & it's terrible

I bought this computer based on the high reviews, price, and what I needed the computer for (web browsing, Microsoft Word, and some Excel). The computer itself is built well. The software of this being a Chromebook is where this computer was a huge drawback. Being a Chromebook, you do not have access to regular Microsoft Office programs. You have the option of Office Online which lacks many features such as text boxes. Microsoft Office Online, including Word, will open in a Chrome tab so at times it can be sluggish because Chrome can take a lot of memory. After, we downloaded Microsoft Word for Chromebook, it is missing many rather basic features from the normal version and it has many quirks and bugs. From this experience, I attempted to use the Crossover app to load Office 2016 on and it's unusable. So I going back to using Google Docs, including Sheets, I attempted to create the same document (a business invoice) and running sheets has some quirks that did not have resolutions for because the program is rather new. Docs and Sheets is lacking many features regular Word and Excel has and you must relearn many commands on these new versions of a document-writer and spreadsheet. There are many quirks with this computer of how Chromebook operates when used to a Windows and even Mac operating system. Chromebook feels it stills needs work to make it more intuitive, efficient, and easy to use. It was bought to do basically two things and we are going to exchange it for a low-priced Windows computer with good reviews.

      Dear NamasteCO,

We are sorry you are unhappy with your Acer Chromebook. For those used to Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office, this can take some getting used to. Chromebooks are different from standard laptop products in that they are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and documents living in the cloud. Because of this they don’t have much for on board storage but they also are not expensive either. If you need to use third party software applications that must be installed on the computer, a Chromebook is likely not for you, where a Windows laptop would suit you better. If however you need assistance with your Chromebook and are located in the US or Canada, please fill out this form so that we can assist you:

This is a pretty good computer for the price. Boots fast and is a good alternative to laptops with all the bells and whistles.

I really only use laptops for school projects, hulu, youtube, and shopping. This one was recommended to me. Its not terrible for everyday use but its just too big, bulky and heavy to have such poor sound. I can barely hear it when its on full volume sitting right in front of me. I would not recommend if you mostly would use it for videos.

Should Have Sprung for a Real Laptop

I bought this... thing... for one purpose and one purpose alone, to make the unending piles of digital paperwork which comprise seemingly the majority of my job just a little bit more manageable. It can't even do that much satisfactorily! First of all the abbreviated keymap (no home, end, page up, page down or delete keys, no keypad, no caps lock) makes typing more difficult than doing so on a phone, which is what I had been using until I bought this. I had to buy an external keyboard and mouse set to compensate for the keyboard's poor design. Even then the USB interface is so lackluster that the caps lock key actually lags. I've used remote keyboards on everything ranging from my own desktop to tablets and I've never once encountered that problem. If, like me, you capitalize words using caps lock rather than shift, don't bother buying this machine. Secondly if your work necessitates multiple tabs or windows being open simultaneously, expect significant problems with the browser not crashing altogether. Lastly, and this is a big one, if you rely on tethering for internet access for whatever reason, don't bother buying this. I used to be able to tether via USB with no problems at all, until the Chrome OS got an update with some feature which is ironically called Instant Tethering. This has made tethering so complicated that I have yet to find any article, post, YouTube video, you name it, which adequately explains how I'm actually supposed to do it. I'm of course using the phone's wi-fi hotspot function as a workaround, but even that doesn't work reliably because, for whatever reason, the Chromebook occasionally sort of forgets that it's supposed to be on a wireless network. Nothing like spending ten minutes filling out some summary report and submitting it, only to discover that while you were typing the device decided that it doesn't need to be connected to a wireless network, effectively forcing you to type it up all over again. In summary this is the second worst purchase I have ever made (the only worse one being a set of bluetooth earbuds whose cheap adhesive disintegrated less than a quarter after I bought it). The extra hundred for a true laptop would have been well worth it, especially since I'll be buying one eventually to replace this anyway.

Four Months Later only worth $5.

Before I bought the Acer Chromebook I asked if I could use Microsoft Word with it. Two separate employees told me yes. The problem is you can only use Word if you use one drive. If I wanted to use one drive I would probably buy a Surface Book. Today four months after purchasing for $229, Best Buy offered me $5 as a buy back. Really.
