This computer WOULD NOT adapt to the needs of my niece who was entering college. We had to go back to Best Buy and get a better...more expensive...computer. This computer would be best as an internet device.

Half-off for a reason, but still not bad.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.You'll see plenty of reviews talking about how the computer is good and fast, the display is bright, it can even do some light gaming if you want. However, the audio is just too quiet, it's strangely muffled. I'm here to agree with the majority here. At first, I doubted it; there must be some reason for it, something I could work with and fix. Well, here's the issue. The audio is perfectly fine if you put in headphones or earbuds, and that's because the vents that the audio comes through are on the bottom. There are no speakers or vents on the top of the computer, so all of the sounds are filtered through the bottom. If you keep this computer on flat surfaces, the audio will sound quieter and muffled because it is. I recommend elevating the computer and leaving it tilted on something so you can hear the audio properly. However, it does still seem a bit quiet compared to other laptops I've had. I thought this wouldn't be an issue when I bought this computer because I already like quiet, but sometimes videos and other media that account for that are a bit hard to hear. I've had to put in headphones more than once just to hear conversations, podcasts or lectures clearly. Finally, there is one crushing issue that no one has mentioned that is causing me to look for a new laptop; While I'm in a voice or video call with a friend and they're sharing a song or video, the audio comes out glitchy, faint and distorted, whether or not I'm wearing headphones or not. This also happens when I'm in a call and put on my own music; If I play anything at all, whether it's games, music or video, the audio doesn't come out properly. Depending on the output, the call itself might also become crackly and faint. I've tested this on Zoom, Discord and Spotify, just to ensure it's a global problem and not because of the programs. It is global, I believe it's a hardware problem and I haven't found a way to fix it besides replacing the sound card. However, laptops are notorious for being difficult and risky to replace tiny parts. This might be why this laptop was being sold here for 55% of its normal price. Although this is an issue that could be specific to me, it's possible that nobody else has tried voice calls on their computer and hasn't come across this issue. If you're working jobs that require voice or video calls at all, I wouldn't recommend this laptop. Aside from the audio issues and my strange call bug, I only have good things to say about this laptop. The screen size is impressive and comfortable, the keys are both large enough and spaced far enough apart to minimize typing issues for someone with wide hands and the entire thing is sturdy. This processor is much stronger and faster than my previous computer. It's a good, cheap laptop, much better than anything else you could get for $300. However, I guessed that there must be some flaws if it was being sold for so cheap, and I was correct. It lasted me for nearly two years, and it still could if I could fix this audio bug. But you know what? That's good enough. Only buy if you're on a tight budget and don't mind quiet audio. If the sale is still active, it's otherwise a great, sturdy laptop for its price range that can handle many things. If the sale isn't active anymore, don't try it.

Battery life sucks

Very disappointed

Awesome Acer

I think I've turned my desktop on twice since I got this laptop. I use it for the basics of home computing... email, social media, banking, letters, etc. It's just the ticket!
