    Pretty good budget laptop.

It does everything the specs say, and it's an OK budget laptop. The screen is somewhat disappointing, with low viewing angles. The sound quality from the internal speakers is very poor, but from headphones is good. One thing that irritates, and it may be true of most newer budget laptops, is that there is no LED blinking anywhere to show hard disk activity. I know it costs a tiny bit of money to include that, but I wish the engineers could find a way to make either the operating or charging LED do double duty and blink or flicker with HDD activity. As it is, the machine can be very busy doing something (like a big windows update) and there are few clues because the HDD is so very quiet.

    Great Value

This is a great laptop for the money. However, there are a few things you have to do to it out of the box to speed it up. First, go to "Control Panel", click "Uninstall a Program" and then uninstall the bloatware. I uninstalled every Acer program, McAfee antivirus, Wild tangent Games, Amazon, MS Office trial, and a couple of other things. Next, I went to "Start" and then "All Apps" and I went down the list and uninstalled a lot of the Microsoft apps that I didn't need, as well as Candy crush and so on. After that, I used a free program called "Ccleaner" to run through the registry and clean up any temporary files that weren't needed. After that, all you have to do is install a good security suite like Norton or Kaspersky, and do your updates. My computer is smoking fast now. I'll probably upgrade the memory to 8gb ($40) in the next few days, although not necessary. I have been working on PC's and laptops for 12 years now and I can honestly say that this laptop is a steal at $350. Sure, the build quality might not be the same as a high end Dell or HP, but the specs are great and if you take care of it and don't throw it around, you will be fine. Don't forget to defrag!

Good laptop for a basic user

old laptop was just too slow, so took advantage of trade-in program and went with this laptop. It was not my first choice, but since an ACER laptop was not compatible with my home wifi, I went with my 2nd choice. I have not been disappointed yet. Much faster than I was expecting, but I think windows 10 contributes to the occasional delays when using browser. Overall - happy user so far.

    Excellent for a basic user

This laptop is excellent for a basic user. I've only had it for a few days, but watching netflix is fine; having a couple of tabs open at the same time, like itunes and firefox, is fine; etc. For someone who normally uses a 8 GB memory laptop, this is not terribly slow. I bought this to finish up a project: I'm using excel with hundreds of thousands of filled cells that I've filtered and sectioned off, and there's only been a few hiccups. This is great if you aren't a gamer and need something simple; otherwise I'd suggest something with more than 4 GB memory. The speaker, keyboard, and screen are all great. Unfortunately, it does come with windows 10.

    Adequate but with potential

Needed an upgrade from our little Samsung netbook. To be used for convenience during travel--email, etc. rather than every day office use. So it needs to be decent performance but not meant for having, etc. At the price point, it does this with the exception that the hard drive is dog slow and there's not enough memory to really run W10 adequately. We upgraded the memory and will swap in an SSD one of these days. In the meantime, it's meeting our needs.

Try out the touchpad before you buy

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The touchpad on this laptop is not centered, but is on the left. If you are used to a centered touchpad on your laptop, this will be extremely awkward. I am constantly right clicking when I am trying to left click--it is extremely frustrating. I used this laptop very infrequently for the first two months I owned it. Had I known about the touchpad issue, I would have returned it immediately. Also, this computer is very slow to boot, and seems to be sluggish and slow in general.

I got this laptop on Oct ,but after i bought it i found it cheaper on line after 10 days , so i decided to bring it back ,but they can't give my money back because it comes with a bundle of the anti-virus which is really sucks , it make me feel it is a scam with the free anti-virus and i cant give the whole bundle back as it will charge me $30 for the anti-virus ! If u want to buy this laptop better buy it without the free anti-virus !!

Runs great and I have set up all my old programs on it easily. Not too much firmware to deal with. Fast and it runs cool even in an 85 deg. room! Nice size and seems very sturdy.

Nice looking machine, but disk usage is slow.

Brand new out of the box and disk usage is at 100%, I have tried all fixes online but nothing seems to work. Apparently this machine is no good with windows 10. Gonna take it back to store see if they cant figure something out. Usually Acer laptops are solid machines that will last, hopefully this is error gets fixed. Cant really review anything else can laptop runs so slow.

One star was generous. Returning for the hp

My tablet was no longer cutting it for the demand of my graduate program. I needed a dependable laptop that would allow me to do the basics (internet, microsoft office), but at a reasonable speed. My father was kind enough to come with me and even purchase the laptop, and now I feel ungrateful because this laptop is terrible. It has a nice look and feel, but it runs like c**p (it won't let me say such bad words). It should not take 15 minutes to start up. I open programs and they take several minutes to open. Working full-time and being in a graduate program for a health profession that demands another 60 hours a week, means I don't have much free time on my hands. I need a laptop that can keep up with me, so waiting about 20 minutes between start up and applications opening is not acceptable (and shouldn't be for anyone purchasing a laptop for any reason). I was looking at the hp laptops because several classmates also have them, and are very satisfied. I went with this because the sales person was telling me how terrible the hp was despite what my friends were saying, but I'm really upset I did. The sales person must have been mistaken. When I actually have the time, I will be returning this for the hp. SAVE YOURSELF!

I have another ACER which I love, and has endured falls, spills and other torturous events that come as a given when placed in my possession, so I was so grateful to ACER for making such a sturdy computer, and thought: let me get another ACER for my bussiness... It feels sturdy but it is suuuuuuuper slow and glitchy. Mind me, a friend bought the same one and I helped him set it up and I thought its probably just the setup that is soo slow but no.... after a couple days using it myself I feel bad for my friend and will be returning this later today and recommending him to return it as well.. Good luck!
