Fast runs good easy to use also can work at night when the lights are off

I have been buying acer for some time now an I am completely satisfied thank you !

It was not as fast as i wanted it to be. It was also tooooo heavy to carry around.

Have virus protection plan but still susceptible to viruses.

Not the quality product I expect from an Acer. Disappointing.

This laptop is a "combo" that can be used as both a laptop and a tablet which I found to be really cool. Setting up was pretty easy. It is a big HD laptop that has a full keyboard including the keypad on the right. It is also backlit which is handy. It has a huge 1TB hard drive. The 8GB processor is adequate for basic functions but is EXTREMELY slow when you have more than one or two programs open at a time. It also does not come with an optical drive so you are not able to use cds/dvds with this machine which is somewhat of a drawback. The other negative that I would add about this computer is it comes with NO software other than some games and preloaded links to ebay, amazon,and netflix. There is a trial version of MS Office which you can try for 30 days. The Windows 10 platform was a little bit "quirky" to get used to. Over all a very good budget machine. If you are going to be using it for word processing, email, and streaming movies it will be just what you are looking for. If you are going to be doing a lot of photo/video editing or using multiple programs at one time, this is probably not the machine that you want to get.

We bought this computer for my son to use for school-he was not happy with the computer at all. It was slow and seemed to have issues-it was always running and never completed. We returned the product for another brand.

Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to swap the hard drive for a solid state drive. I has since broken and, I didn't purchase Geek Squad protection.

Purchased for Christmas gift for our granddaughter. She opened the box for the #1 item on her list and TOTAL disappointment seeing the screen was cracked :-0 Taking it to the store tomorrow 12/26/16 and expect I will be able to write a MUCH better review. Horrible feeling to disappoint one's grandchild once they see their wish come true & then ZIP NOTHING just SADDNESS :-( Cannot recommend at this time. I'm staying confident that Best Buy will make this right.

The Acer laptop wasn't for me because I guess I'm so used to Apple products. So I ended up returning the Acer laptop and getting a mac.

Computer is a piece of junk! Should have returned it immediately. VERY slow, updates slow it down even more, now 6 months later, shows not connected to internet when web page comes up, even though the wireless switch is on and it shows connected to my network in settings. I am currently contacting geek squad to see how to get rid of this piece of @#!*. Would give it a negative star rating if possible!

I am disappointed with my purchase. It jumps pages unexpectedly, jumps when I am typing, and sometimes has typing delays. In addition, my Xbox games continuously don't load or kick out as soon as the game is done, so I am reloading an average of 10 times on each game. The only reason I kept it is because I can't be without a computer for the time it takes to set up another one. Worst computer I have ever had.

The Hard Drive blew up and we lost everything after 3 months of having the computer!!

First things first. 1. As a member of the Tech Insider Network, Best Buy sent me one of these at no cost in exchange for a review. 2. Outside of the office, I'm a Mac user. 3. I've been an "IT Guy" for nearly 20 years, so I've had my hands on a lot of different hardware over the years. The initial specs are pretty standard - 7th Generation Core i5 processor, 1TB Western Digital hard drive and 8GB of memory. Acer still used a spindle drive which isn't a big deal as it helps keep cost down, especially in the 1TB range, but also hurts battery life. Regardless, it will easily meet the needs of the average consumer. Setup was easy, again pretty standard. Windows 10 comes installed and requires very little input during setup. What I really liked is that Acer didn't install a ton of bloatware, which so many other manufacturers seem to do. Yes, there are things that don't need to be there, but overall I was very pleased. Build quality seems very high. The 15" display is clear and bright. 1080p movies look and sound great. The keyboard rivals my MacBook keyboard - nice touch and overall feel. Because of the huge display, it allowed Acer to install a separate 10-key keyboard. I didn't spend a lot of time using the touchscreen as fingerprints on monitors drive me crazy! When I did use it, it responded quickly and as expected. The hinges allow complete rotation of the display and the screen will flip automatically based on position. Of course the larger screen also adds to the weight. But, it isn't bulky at all. I was pleasantly surprised with the overall thickness and weight, given the size. Nicely done, Acer. They've done a nice job managing temperatures and fan noise. Using it in my lap, I never noticed that my legs got hot or abnormal fan noise. I'm regularly asked for advice from others about technology purchases. For years, I've said "No" to Acer. I've always felt for the price, there were better options. However, the Aspire R has really changed my perception and I'd readily recommend this to anyone.

I haven't had the laptop of month and the connection to the power cord has broken

I've never really gotten comfortable with the family Ipads. Maybe I'm old school, but I've always preferred the feel of a desktop or standard laptop. But a device like this, being convertible to various configurations could begin to sway me over - laptop when i want to type & work; tablet when i need to be mobile. The display is excellent - better resolution, sharpness, & brightness than i've seen in similar devices. And surprisingly, the audio is also very good, none of the tinny sound that grates on the ear and is so common in tablet sized devices. Another great feature is a lighted keyboard - something i didn't expect in this price range, and the touchscreen settings are adjustable to suit your personal style. I've seen some complaints about adjusting to Windows 10, I personally don't care for the block graphic style & calling everything an "app", but you can download one of the programs that make it look & act like Win 7 - problem solved. I had no issues connecting to Wifi, Bluetooth, printers, etc. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this piece - I've owned Acers before, and the general feel has been lesser quality than an HP, Dell, etc, but I have to admit they upped their game with this one. If there's one thing I need to fault it on, having onboard video instead of a separate dedicated video, it's not meant for any kind of heavy duty gaming - don't expect to give it to the kids for playing the latest Warcraft. But I'm not going to deduct any points for that, if you're in this market, you pretty much know what you're getting. I'll just not be getting rid of my high powered desktop just yet! But if you're looking for a versatile machine at a decent price, you should give this one a lookover.

The battery life is very short, requiring charging after 2 hours of use.
