Good product but was a bit heavy to use as a tablet. The power connector is flimsy. Not sure how long that will last.

Great buy for the price. The only issue I've had is with wifi strength and it dropping my network every now and then.

I am retired and now realize that much of my stored info is no longer relevant. The learning to use Windows 10 was not as difficult as I imagined. I very much like the lighter weight.

Love this little laptop. Was concerned that I would not like the small size with some of the programs, possibly hard to read, but no problems. Like the size and flexibility.

Best bang for the buck I could find

Best bang for the buck out there if you want a skylake and ssd. I tried 13.3 units and found them too small and the 15.6 units felt too big. This one is just right. I wasn't looking for a 2 in 1 but now I'm hooked. It's fast, quiet, runs cool, and the battery lasts a long time. The $50 Microsoft store is a great bonus since my son has an Xbox and you can use the money to buy Xbox games. Con's -Track pad is good but not great. Doesn't feel as rock solid as some of the premium track pads or mac books but it gets the job done and does not interfere with usage. -graphics driver crashes occasionally even after driver update. This appears to be a windows 10 issue related to the 520 graphics. On the plus side, its very easy to update drivers with Acer Portal. -power port is small and flimsy. feels like it would be easy to break. This could be a deal breaker or at least a legit reason to buy an extended warranty. I have owned dozens of laptops over the years and all the ones with small flimsy power ports end up breaking and have to be repaired. The difference is this unit has 7+ hours of battery life whereas old units I owned only lasted 1-3 hours. My goal is to baby the charging port and try not to charge it while on my lap. -very minor screen bleed. I only noticed it during bootup. Screen looks great overall. -keyboard keys don't have much travel but it's still easy to type on. -I wish the arrow keys and pg up/pg dn keys were full size.

I like the size of this which is smaller than the one I am replacing it with. I watch a lot of TV shows on Netflix so I really like that it is also a tablet. I'm happy with it!

Awesome value, best PC purchase I've ever made

I bought this a week ago and am honestly thrilled with it. I have the i5 version with 8 gigs RAM and 256 gig SSD, and it has handled everything I have thrown at it so far. Was considering popping for the i7 model but the sixth-gen i5 really is pretty powerful on its own and good enough for what I need, and the 256 gig ssd is plenty for my purposes. Graphics are hugely improved from past models and the full hd multi touch screen is just about perfect, rectifying all the mistakes Acer made with past similar models in that regard. It works great in tablet mode as well, but I would have been happy with it as a pure laptop even if it wasn't a full convertible so that's really just a bonus to me. Flipping it into tablet mode for some casual reading or for passing it around to other people is really nice. Battery life is pretty excellent, I've been getting a good 7.5 to 8 hours out of it without sacrificing performance at all, and it charges quickly. The aesthetic design is perhaps a tad plain and uninspriring, but I stopped caring about that after about two minutes of handling it. The weight and balance are great, keyboard is solid with an adjustable backlight (a feature I didn't even know about when I bought it as they had the backlight turned off in the store model, but after purchasing was pleased to discover the hotkeys to easily adjust it). Honestly for the price I can't imagine a better deal out there, and I spent quite a while shopping around trying every device with similar specs I could get my hands on. Only remaining concern I have is durability and lifespan, though I have no particular reason to doubt either one except for my feeling that otherwise it is almost too good to be true. It feels very solid and well built. Overall that's a concern that can only be evaluated in time but it has given me no actual reason to worry that it is flimsy or will be short lived. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a powerful convertible, or even just an ordinary laptop with good features. I would have even paid a bit more to be honest. Looks like Acer delivered a truly excellent product. 5/5 stars.

I was disappointed in this laptop, but i am not a fan of the race to the skinniest form factor. The mouse pads don't work as good as they use to, there are no separate right and left click on them, keyboards have no tactile feel to them anymore. this laptop was just laggy doing simple tasks and i couldn't figure out why with the decent specs it has.

    Great laptop, Small Flaws

I bought this laptop for my needs as a software developer. I wanted a lot of power at a low price. The Good. This laptop has great performance; it has never broken a sweat regardless of what I throw at it. For example, the fan never steps into 100%. Either that or the fan is so quiet I simply can't hear it. I've also never felt the laptop get warm or hot due to CPU activity. Thus I'm not surprised that the battery lasts about 7 hours with constant activity (it may last longer, but that is about how much I've noticed). I'm thrilled with the battery performance - my previous laptops would last between 45 minutes to 4 hours. I'm also very pleased that this machine has a USB 3.1 type C port. Granted, it does not have Thunderbolt, but the type C port is still a great feature for the price. The case and housing of this laptop look and feel solid; it is very high quality. Finally, the laptop, the operating system, drivers, and a bit of bloatware are playing very nicely together. This contrasts with a Toshiba Satellite I bought from Costco a few months ago. The screen-saver and sleep modes on the Toshiba were behaving erratically, and the video display would crash and recover perhaps every a couple minutes. In contrast, this Acer Aspire is working flawlessly. Kudos! The Neutral. It is becoming common for laptops to come without either a CD/DVD drive or an ethernet (RJ45) port. I've decided this is ok, given how easy it is to mount ISO images these days, making the CD drive unnecessary, and given the high performance of WiFi. Finally, if I really need to operate with a direct ethernet connection, then I could purchase a USB to ethernet adapter. I have little use for the touch-screen, but it behaves as I expect. Likewise the tablet mode of this laptop (when you flip the lid 360 degrees) also seems well done; though I'm still not sure how important that feature is to me. The Bad. Despite having a 14" display, the physical dimensions of this laptop are almost as big as a laptop with a 15.6" display. Doh! The keyboard keys are good for the travel depth they offer, but I sometimes find I need to retype with greater vigor to ensure that my strokes are being acknowledged. I do a lot of presentations and, unfortunately, the only option for interfacing with a projector is an HDMI port. It is unfortunate that this laptop does not have a built-in DisplayPort or VGA. Cosmetically the case is beautiful, but highly susceptible to fingerprints. Finally, my biggest complaint is that the keyboard does not have dedicated "home" and "end" keys. As a programmer, I use those keys constantly. I tried using the 3rd party "SharpKeys" tool to remap the "Pause" and "Insert" keys to act as "home" and "end" respectively. Unfortunately, for some reason the "Pause" key cannot be remapped! Aghh! The "pause" and "insert" keys are almost needless keys for most people, so it is quite frustrating to have that keyboard real-estate wasted with them. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. I feel the Acer Aspire R 14 is both powerful and reliable - at a great price.
