Good inexpensive no frills laptop. HORRIBLE staff.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought this to use for work. I utilize one website for EHR and this is small and mobile for me to use while rounding. It is inexpensive and I don’t have to be worried about it getting damaged unlike my MacBooks. The staff at the store were HORRIBLE. I asked them where I can find this and they are trying to convince me to purchase a laptop with at least 16gb ram. Anything less than 16gb apparently laptops will be “super slow.” When declined and requested if they could retrieve this laptop for me suddenly they all started to “look busy” when I was the only customer in the computer section. The female that initially engaged me about purchasing a higher end laptop did not want to help me again while I was waiting for help. She looked at her coworker and told him “you help that dude.” When I get a chance I will have to reach out to whoever she calls out to.

Fast, easy to use and very affordable! Superb!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This compact and easily taken along most anywhere device is a wonder! I used it to access and surf the internet and it was more than quick enough with an average via WiFi download speed of 550+ mbps and an upload speed of 110+ mbps. Yup. It's fast! It loaded photos with ease and I was able to log into my Disney+ account and watch movies without any problems. However when I went to MAX I received an alert that my Chromebook might have some difficulty with that service so I immediately backed out of logging in. One night I was having trouble watching the news on my TV and it uses Google as its search engine and it also has Chromecast. I turned on the Chromebook and as soon as it was done booting up it connected to my TV and instantly the picture delivery and sound improved dramatically! I then turned off my laptop and the TV reverted to the shaky picture and sound it exhibited before. This is a new TV and it rarely has a problem with WiFi connectivity speeds but I suspect the little processor in the Chromebook might be a bit better than the one in the TV. Turn on the Chromebook, it connects via casting to the TV and all was smooth sailing again! Excellent! Sending and receiving emails via my two separate accounts was also smooth and easy. Additionally, music via this Chromebooks is really quite good and easily accessed over the internet with the exception of my not being able to download the Denon HEOS application for my home stereo system as it appears to be incompatible with this Chromebook. I suspect that is due to its lack of a touchscreen as my sister-in-law has a Chromebook with a touchscreen and HEOS works fine on it. I tested its Chromcasting of music with a couple of internet radios. A particular radio station I am fond of that was no longer available to me via the tuning service of my radios was easily located and cast to the two units just fine using the Chromebook as my source. This was especially pleasing as again, I have been unable to receive that particular station for years. Given that I cannot easily access MAX for movies, I reduced my overall rating to 3 stars as I really enjoy that streaming service, but...Because I am once again able to hear one of my favorite stations (I am retired and listen to a LOT of music throughout the day!) again the final tally is now set at 4 Stars! This Chromebooks is an excellent value and a workhorse of a performer in day to day tasks and the only thing it is missing for me is a touchscreen which I have become accustomed to over the years. Highly recommended? Indeed!

Great for Browsing The Web!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Chromebook's build quality was decent. The top lid felt sturdy, and the plastic bottom felt durable. It even has smooth edges for a greater typing experience. The screen is tiny, at 11/6 inches. You get some thick bezels, especially at the bottom chin area. The overall color of black was nice. The typing experience wasn't bad, but it wasn't the greatest. I'd say for me, it is average. There is nothing to complain about. You get a shallow key press, and I mean very shallow. The trackpad is miniature but fitting for such a small design. The presses are loud and feel clunky, yet the trackpad worked as intended. The ports are lacking as well. You get one USB-A port and a USB-C port. The USB-C port is used for charging. There is a lack of a HDMI port. You do get a headphone jack. What was neat is Acer included a camera cover attachment. It sticks to the lip and has a notch for a camera shutter slider. I have never seen this before. It's better than having to use black tape over my camera. This is a Laptop that isn't meant for professional use, content creation, or anything serious. It may be ok for schoolwork. I didn't have any problems as far as slowdowns, lags, or stutters. This is for the individual who wants to just browse the web and check emails. That is the benefit of this Chromebook. But with the lack of ports you are stuck with this 11.6 inch screen. I do think if you spend a little more you can find better Chromebooks that offer a better experience.

Decent Entry Level Choice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Acer - Chromebook 311 - 11.6" HD Laptop is exactly what you would expect... It's a serviceable unit for basic Internet browsing, shopping, E-mail and video streaming. The processor on the basic side. Is that a bad thing? No, but it's not going to serve for heavy, strenuous work. It's a great option for students, kids, travel etcetera, but for more professional or taxing work, this may not be the best option. The 4 MB memory is pretty basic but capable. The 64 GB eMMC drive is certainly adequate. Will hold enough downloaded videos and games for any flight in the world. However if you are like my son who is a US Navy Nuclear Engineer on an Ohio Class submarine and you are going underway for months at a time, this would not be the best choice. The screen resolution is a decent 1366 x 768 (HD). Certainly sharp enough for casual use. And given the screen size of 11.6", again is certainly adequate for close quarters work. The nice advantage to the relatively small size is the portability. All of this takien into account and a battery life listed as up to 8 hours (adjust screen brightness down on the airplane to get near that time) and this is a good choice for most people's general needs. End of the day I would reccomend to a friend.

Not worth keeping. I'll buy a different brand
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The pros: the display is fine, the keyboard is responsive, the touch screen works like a charm, allowing it to switch from laptop to pad is great, the ability to use a micro SD card for additional memory is fantastic .but. The cons. To be brutally honest battery life really sucks. I'm lucky to get much more than three hours from it. I can;t believe it could be used for all day school kid use. I'm used to Chromebooks that really gave me 10 hours of battery life. Then, it seems to take a really long time to charge. If I try to charge via plane power, the plane power cannot keep up with the charge usage of the machine. I'm not sure why, but it seems to be a bit of a memory hog. If I have more than a few tabs open it gets very balky, and I have to reboot -- which I do a lot. Again, I've not had that problem with other Chromebooks.
