    The display quality was pretty bad. I bought this laptop for my brother he is in 6t grade even tho he did not like the display resolution.

    It works great just like a regular laptop the only problem I have with it is that you can’t screen things from your phone and download everything that you could on a laptop.

    I bought this in March 2024. Its december 2024 now and my laptop wint open. I was using it one day and the screen just randomly went black. And yes it was charged when it happened. Before it stopped working though it was a pretty good laptop.

    I bought this as a gift. When I went to set it up, it kept saying that I had no internet connection and i couldn't go now further. The strange thing is that I was able to browse and do everything under guest mode so my internet was not the problem. I called for assistance and we did some troubleshooting and eventually I was told to send it in to get fix because it was an issue with the program. Needless to say, I sent it back and got my full refund. I refuse to buy something brand new and have to send it to the manufacturer to fix. By the way, I had to do the same exact thing with another laptop less than a week later.....

    Very sluggish and not very responsive. One of the slowest computers I’ve ever used. You get what you pay for basically.

    Horrible. Needed something just do online assignments for a class. Too slow for simple assignments and needs constant updates to stay compatible with programs. The headache not worth the price. Just pay a little more for regular laptop.

Chromebooks are different from Windows laptop products in that they are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and documents living in the cloud. Because of this they don’t have much for on-board storage but they also are not expensive either. Chromebooks run off apps like an Android phone or tablet so you cannot download and install applications or .exe files. If you need to use third party software applications that must be installed on the computer, a Chromebook is likely not for you, where a Windows laptop would suit you better.

    Wouldn’t connect to the internet.. RETURNED

    You definitely get what you pay for.. after unboxing and attempting to do initial setup….laptop wouldn’t connect to the internet. Well, it technically did connect but the startup screen wouldn’t let me get into the main user account to run setup. Kept saying “cannot connect to WiFi/ use guest account to run diagnostics” so about 10 times I logged into the “guest account” and guess what?? It indeed WAS connected to the internet. I was able to visit Facebook, Google, Yelp etc from the browser. After about 2 hours of endless research on how to fix the issue and feeling frustrated I gave up. I couldn’t get into the main account and personalize my computer or run startup files so I returned the laptop. It’s 2024 what kind of laptop can’t connect to the internet correctly??

    The price was great but this thing is slow! I bought it for my mother and even she complained about the speed. The user interface isn’t friendly and doesn’t have small things like a caps lock button.

    Free antivirus seems like a gimmick

    During Xmas, we were excited to buy two of these for my school aged children who wanted them to play some game called Little Alchemy. We opened one and as soon as you get to the part when you’re supposed to download the “free” antivirus that gets emailed to you at least six different times, reminding you to install it, there is an unexplainable error. We haven’t even bothered to open the other one yet. Someone told me to bring it to Geek Squad but I am very inconvenienced by that option and can only hope I can make it in there before next Christmas. I guess this review is more about the free anti virus that is advertised rather the actual Chromebook. If we ever get our free download to work, I’ll update my comment. Regardless yet sadly, we weren’t expecting much for a kids Chromebook to begin with anyways.

      We checked and verified that Acer does not offer a custom Chrome operating system that includes anti virus software. We recommend you contact Best Buy for assistance with this software offer. Please keep in mind that Chromebooks run off apps like an Android phone or tablet so you cannot download and install applications or .exe files. Chrome offers a built-in antivirus scanner that comes with the browser. You can use the antivirus scanner to search your device for programs (like malware) that might be harmful.

    PURCHASE IS QUESTIONABLE NOW

    My Acer Chromebook froze up while streaming a movie. I had to watch a YouTube video to correct it. It is still returnable. I am not sure what to do now.

    Worked great but now it intermittently shuts off with no warning. Battery pack also gets super hot when charging Chromebook.

    Have had 3 other chrome books. Never had one this slow. Half the time it freezes up on me. Never had this happen before with the others.

    This laptop dramatically slowed down and browsing was painful as there was a lot of lag between cursor movement and screen movements. Had to return to BestBuy.
