For the price this is a pretty good laptop. I was shocked when I realized it wasn't touch screen though. This day an age I wouldn't think to check if that was a feature. I got it on a sale but wouldn't of paid it's actual price with out being touch screen.

    Acer vs. HP ???

By no means am I a computer expert so I only go by the ease and speed of how my Chromebook functions. In comparison to my HP Chromebook (used for over 8 1/2 years), this Acer boots up slower and I had to powerwash it after about a month because it would just not go to the next page or function. If I could do it over again, I would get another HP Chromebook.

I have 2 Dell Laptops, (1 recently bought from Best Buy) and a MacBook Air, but this is my first Chromebook. There are a few things about this Chromebook I don't like, the main issue is that many of my Google Play Store apps installed on my Android phone will not install on this Android Chromebook and I have no idea why. My VLC Media Player 'performs' so poorly that watching a movie on this Chromebook is impossible, I haven't even bothered to attempt to play music. I though about sending it back, but reluctantly I'll keep it. At this price I really wasn't expecting much, but I was expecting more. In my opinion this is not a laptop, it's a toy and my grandchildren can play with it when they come to visit, it'll help keep them away from my 2 Dells and MacBook Air, so it will serve some purpose. All said and done I would not recommend this Chromebook. I don't know if I bought a 'lemon' or just an inferior product, spend a few dollars more a buy a decent Chromebook, because this one ain't it.

      Dear Lamont,
Chromebooks are different from Windows laptop products in that they are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and documents living in the cloud. Because of this they don’t have much for on-board storage but they also are not expensive either. Chromebooks run off apps like an Android phone or tablet so you cannot download and install applications or .exe files. If you need to use third party software applications that must be installed on the computer, a Chromebook is likely not for you, where a Windows laptop would suit you better. If you have any questions or need help with your Chromebook, please feel free to contact our support team at 866-695-2237; they are available to assist 24/7 for in-warranty products.

I think the Acer Chromebook 315 has a big, bright screen with very good performance, especially for a Chromebook with only 4 GB of RAM. Design The Chromebook 315 has a pretty standard laptop look. There is a noticeable bezel around the screen but it's not bad. It's not extra thin or light but not think and heavy either. It's very comfortable for me to use as a laptop not feeling flimsy when moving the screen up and down or when typing. This display lifts open and goes back fairly far if you want. It's not a touch screen. The touchpad is not huge, but a good size and it works well. I like the feel of the keyboard. Typing on it feels very comfortable. The layout is good with a full numaric keypad and both the <Backspace> and <Delete> keys. Some Chromebooks only give you the <Backspace> key. The keys are not backlit. I was happy to find two USB Type A ports and two USB type C ports on it. There is also a headphone jack and a Micro SD card slot. The power button is a keyboard key towards to the top right of the keyboard, as is common now on many laptops. This Chromebook does not power on when you open it. But it does suspend nicely when you close the lid and wakes quickly when you open it. A very nice padded sleeve is included to help protect it when you travel. The top is zippered to close it and there is a large pocket, also with a zipper, in the front of the sleeve. Setup The setup process is very quick and easy. I used a Google account I already have and was up and running in about 5 minutes. It automatically installed apps I have on another Chromebook in the background once I got through the setup process. It even installed an update as part of the setup. Performance and Functionality In the past I've had issues opening many tabs on Chromebooks with only 4 GB of RAM. I think Google made changes to Chrome in the last year or so that help it to use less memory when working with lots of tabs - well, if so, it shows. I was very impressed at how quickly pages loaded. It got a bit slower but I was able to open 24 web sites, some pretty demanding. I was amazed at how well it work. It started getting a bit slower but it was still fine for most web sites. I did say yes when Chrome asked me if it wanted to use a new feature to save memory. That seemed to work fine and is probably why I could open so many tabs. I also noticed that scrolling on web pages is very smooth. It's a much better experience than I thought I would get with 4 GB of RAM. Display The display has a large 15.6" diagonal and a resolution of 1280x720. It's very bright and colors appear rich, not washed out, with good contrast. The resolution is nothing special, and lower than 1080p "Full HD", but everything looks good and is a very easy to read size without any display scaling. I was able to connect to an external 4K display (both USB C ports may be used as a DisplayPort) and test 4K video playback on there. It played the video smoothly with the external display set to 100% scaling and I was even able to set it to 120 Hz at 4K. Battery Life While I didn't do any sort of battery run down test or a lot of heavy usage, I've been very impressed by the battery life. It's supposed to get 10 hours. This is very unscientific but I think I'm getting more like 12-15 hours with it. I'm very happy with the battery life. Most of the time I have the screen brightness somewhere in the 50% to 75% range. Summary With a large, bright display, a good keyboard, a good selection of ports, and very good performance I think the Chromebook 315 provides a lot of value. The sleeve is a great bonus too!

I bought this on sale for $129.00. I was charged $148.21 for this item. Orig price was $349. I bought a mouse that was $20.00 and got that for $9.99. Dont know where the extra $20 came from. Tried calling them and of course I spoke to someone in another country who I couldnt understand and she finally told me to call my bank and they will take care of it. Horrible customer service

It's good enough to bring to class but I would never recommend this to someone who needs an actual, functioning laptop to get work done. Being forced to use the web version of Office is bad enough but it freezes, lags, and the battery is pretty quickly showing that it's not going to last.

Please just invest in a laptop because the apps don't work properly. Too late to return so this will just collect dust because it's useless. Waste of money.... I now see why the price was so low.
