This is one of the best laptops I've ever owned. The overall performance is excellent—it runs fast, smooth, and responsive. The touchscreen works great, and I love that it easily converts into a tablet when I need it. The backlit keyboard is another feature I really appreciate, especially when working in low-light conditions. If you're looking for a Chromebook, I highly recommend this one. It's been one of the best purchases I've made, and I'm extremely happy with it.

If you are into chromebooks this is a nice one. Touch screen as well - I looked at a marginally cheaper acer 16 inch initially that was not touch screen and screen didn’t flip but this one does which is great particularly for a touch screen - 14 inches is still is just fine. If you are a total tech member who bought recently you can price match, price just dropped again. Just make sure you understand first the merits of a Chromebook, but that’s a broader topic not unique for this unit - but it is a nice model if you decide on one.

I recently upgraded to this Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 from my 2021 Lenovo IdeaPad because my previous keyboard began malfunctioning. While this model offers new features, I have mixed feelings about whether it is a true upgrade. The build is noticeably heavier than my previous laptop, and I have found that if I don't manually sign off, the battery continues to drain significantly while not in use. I am still evaluating whether the performance improvements justify these practical drawbacks.

I have a mixed opinion after using this Chromebook for a few weeks. The built quality seems fine and the keyboard in comfortable. It was incredibly easy to set up and pairs with my phone almost automatically. It doesn't support too many open tabs--I was hoping with the new i5 chip and the sparer OS I would be able to keep 10 or more tabs open but whenever I open more than 8 or so performance suffers or it hangs up entirely. Also, from time to time the screen flickers for no obvious reason and also sometimes it just restarts by itself. So mixed. I don't know how many of these problems are characteristic of Chromebooks in general, how many might relate to this model, or if my unit might just have issues. Still, I like using it, its very portable, and the battery lasts a long time.

Amazing performance, great protection, and an outstanding overall experience. Highly recommend — Acer knocked it out of the park with this one.

I got last year's model for my daughter and was rather impressed with it. I know for myself that I would want the spec bump that the 2024 model offers. Being a Pixel 9 user in a home that has a lot of google integration the Gemini features were wanted and this model certainly offers that. I was looking to upgrade from 2018's Pixelbook Go which has served me quite well for 7 years now but was showing it's age. Chromebooks have come a long way in terms of features in recent years and this line seemed to be getting a lot of positive reviews and word of mouth. I wanted something that I could work on and multi taks with. The DDR5 RAM is much faster than DD4 and the Ultra 5 115U has great speed. The flip features are really nice even if I dont anticipate needing them very often. Overall, if you want a speedy chromebook with modern specs, this is a great option. The only thing I would change, personally, would be to make 16GB of RAM the base offering in 2024. This is not Acer's fault, per se, as the standard is 8GB. But as we move into the future 16GB will be more and more useful, especially in keeping the machine "fast" for 5 years or more. One other small item might be moving the USB-C ports to only the left side. For me personally, this does not affect me, but having an option on the right side, like in years past, would be great.

This is a real snappy Chromebook. It does everything I need it to do. The reason for missing one star is for the sound quality. Understand the speakers are small and really don't produce great sound. If you consider getting one of these, follow the price which seems to vary quite a bit even from the same retailer over time.

Despite a beautiful screen and great battery life, certain versions of this model have a problem when entering sleep mode. On the model I purchased, entering sleep or closing the lid would occasionally lock up the Chromebook. In these situations, the screen would go blank, the power light would stay on and processes would seemingly continue to run in the background. Instead of going to sleep and conserving battery life, the processor would continue to be active and overheat, if placed in a confined space, such as my backpack. Touching the track pad or keyboard both failed to turn the screen back on. The only way to exit this flawed "sleep mode" was to perform a hard reset. This problem occurred five times during my first week of owning the Chromebook. While I love the look and feel of the Spin 714, this issue defeated the entire purpose of buying a Chromebook. As a result, I had to return this model.

I've had a bunch of Chromebooks. This is a good one. For me touchscreen and backlit keyboard are essential. The Ultra 5 chip with 8 GB RAM is performing exceedingly well. I'll upgrade to 16GB RAM and 120 Ghz refresh rate only if it becomes available in a lighter 13-14" chromebook at roughly the same price.

I was looking forward to this, as I enjoyed an Acer chromebook I had some 15 years ago. I wanted to finally upgrade by replacing the great pixelbook I've used since it came out. I thought the Acer Chromebok Plus Spin 714 was the one. I was wrong. First of all, it seemed quite expensive (even with a sale price) for what you get. But most of all it felt twice as thick and three times as heavy as my pixelbook. I couldn't imagine using this every day for hours on end. Also, it honestly felt just as snappy as the now quite old pixelbook, with a performance that wasn't anywhere near what I had expected. As others have mentioned, the screen is unusually shiny, reflective, and gave off a blinding glare day and night (unless I turned out all of the lights). Unlike my experience with other chromebooks and laptops, this made the Acer unusable. The tinny speakers, while subpar, didn't bother me much if I could use my headphones. I quickly returned this to Best Buy (grateful for their return policies). Maybe new generations of Acer chromebooks will improve the user experience. But I'll be reticent, and wait to hear from others before taking the plunge with them again.

A well designed and sturdy two-in-one that has a strong useful battery life. A productivity machine good multitasking capacity as well as good creativity capabilities (color gamut).

I had an Acer 713 Spin which was an amazing chromebook. Unfortunately I tried to clean a sticky key and broke it, only to find out it could not be repaired. That led me to two days of research and a bunch of YouTube videos. I ended up purchasing the Acer 714 Spin. My only concern prior to purchase was screen brightness. At 340 nits that was considerably less than 450 nits of my prior machine. It turns out I can hardly notice a difference. The 714 Spin has exceeded my expectations in every way. An all steel beautiful chassis with superior build quality compliments the exceptional backlit keyboard. The Core 5 Intel processor is fast and can handle anything. I bought it at $699. The next day it went on sale at $579. I went back to the store and they refunded the difference. Awesome Chromebook. I couldn't be happier.

This Acer Chromebook Spin 714 is a powerhouse for a Chromebook. The build is solid and the screen is beautiful. I ended up returning it because I decided to stick with my current MacBook for work, but I was very impressed with its performance and versatility.

Acer is a good brand, who is known for producing high quality, reliable, and durable products. This Spin 714 is no exception. It’s made from aluminum, which gives it a cool-to-the-touch feel if you leave it sitting on a desk overnight, and it feel premium in general. There’s no noticeable creaking or flexing in the body and it is able to survive some light drops. The screen of the laptop is nothing outstanding, but, it’s one of the better displays you’re able to get on a Chromebook. It’s a bright, clear, and vivd display which peaks out at around 340 nits (which is plently for indoors, but could struggle in direct sunlight), the speakers are only okay, but that’s to be expected. Overall, I give this laptop a 9/10. Would buy again.

This Acer Spin 714 is exactly what I was looking for in a smaller, lightweight Chromebook. I didn't want a full size chromebook or an overbuilt laptop for my needs, which are mostly cloud based applications anyway. They only thing I would say is make sure you are ok with the size, it is a 14" machine which is great if that is what you are looking for, but if it is a primary machine, you may want to look at a larger version. Having said that it is perfect for my needs.

This Acer is the second one which I bought for my Granddaughter. In fact I purchased 2 identical units. Love the look and feel of it as well as the performance.

No lag, works great. Fast processing, Great choice.

I've had this Chromebook for about 2 weeks now and it has met and possibly exceeded my expectations. I had a 3 year old Chromebook that was pretty cheap and it was just super slow. I liked the idea of a Chromebook because of the ability to take it for travel and not worry about viruses. Plus I like something light and responsible, I mostly use websites like Canva and also check email programs. The machine is way more responsive than my old one and I would say it is great. The touch screen is good, but not as responsive as my old Chromebook. The keyboard is great, I have no complaints

This chromebook is slow to start up, but has a clearer screen and is slightly faster than my older laptop. Not a deal breaker for me. I like that its easier on my eyes.
