The Acer Chromebook Spin 311 11.6" is a great portable computer for students and for anyone who does not have to run Microsoft Windows specific programs. The 11.6" screen is bright and both the touch screen and touchpad are very responsive. The Spin is also very light and battery life is long at about 10 hours. It is very quick and responsive with multiple tabs and applications open. One of the features the recent versions of the Chrome operating system is the ability to run Android apps. This is very useful if you have Android apps that you use on your phone. I have recently gone back to school after several years to take a few courses. I was therefore anxious to see how the Spin 311 would perform in a classroom environment as well as remote computing. Since the Chrome operating system is basically the Chrome browser with additions, the Spin 311 exceled in remote computing and the ability to use Google Docs made writing documents and presentations easy. The long battery life also meant that I never had to very about being plugged in. In summary, the Spin 311 is a great value and provides excellent performance. The only negative to me was a lack of a lighted keyboard.

I was looking for a highly portable solution for working online, and that is exactly what this Chromebook delivers. It's definitely not a refined product, but you're not really looking for that if you're buying a Chromebook. While the size is just right for throwing in a backpack or a carryon, the screen could've been a bit larger. There's a lot of wasted bezel space around the screen that would have been more valuable to use as display space instead. The screen that is there is pretty good, though. I actually had to scale up the display a couple of notches to make it easier to read, but if your eyes are better than mine, you could keep the scaling at 100% and use that screen real estate for work instead. The keyboard is perfectly fine for typing, with good spacing between the keys. It does not feel cramped at all. The mouse pad feels a bit cheap, and though I paired a bluetooth mouse, I will switch back and forth between using the mouse and the touch pad. I have had zero issues with connectivity, either bluetooth or WiFi, and processing speed is perfectly fine as well. Of course, the Chromebook OS is not placing huge demands on processing speed, and you're not going to try to use this as a gaming rig either. Overall, this is a good, inexpensive solution for doing online work on the go.

Very good cheap chromebook. Keep in mind because it only has 4gb of ram if you have 3-4+ applications open or a ton ow browser windows it will run slow. As long as you only do 1-2 things at a time though it gets the job done. Especially if you can get it on a sale it is well worth it.

My 9 yr old daughter asked for a computer so I purchased this one for her. She absolutely loves it. They have computers at school but since school was just about over for the year I purchased this one so she could still do with over the summer. Great purchase!!!!

Great portable size and good battery life, but really underpowered. I figured it wouldn't be too much different than my 6 year old Chromebook with 4GB RAM, but it's noticably slower in normal Internet browsing. I have to wait for images to load as I scroll down a page, and it frequently freezes for a fraction of a second. Most other Chromebooks this size are made for schools and are much heavier, but I'm not sure the lack of processing power is worth the tradeoff.

The Acer 11.6 Chromebook serves the purpose for me. I LOVE the size which is why i bought it. I dont do much complex computer stuff, just basic internet.

I got this as a gift for school and it works perfect. It’s fast and I love that it turns into a tablet. I use the tablet style for textbook reading.

The Acer Chromebook Spin is a mainstay in the value end of the Chromebook spectrum - Its been around for 6-7 years in different generations, and continues to impress for its compactness, battery life, and simplicity/no-frills approach to getting ChromeOS into the hands of kids and computing beginners looking for a highly portable solution. The device is NOT PREMIUM IN ANY WAY. Its a simple, plastic unapologetically cheap design with GIANT screen bezels and plastic-feeling parts that, for the most part, seem to get the job done and is a formula Acer isn't ready to change. The exception is the Gorilla Glass now used on the screen, which makes it much more durable than the plastic or early glass screens of its predecessor. I can't knock this thing for being cheap - It only costs ~$200 new, so I wasn't expecting premium materials or excellent build quality - I will say that it's better constructed than its price would suggest, and having a 360 hinge at this price level is unprecedented. I will however knock the processor power as it's noticeably laggy and lacks any kind of graphics ability for gaming or anything but the most basic Android/Play Store apps. Beyond that, if you're looking to get that kid a semi-tough, well made, but replaceable device for the everyday couch computing or homework, this is a great device for it. If you're looking for a sleek ultraportable with backlit keys, bright display, sharp text, and snappy performance, look elsewhere, but prepare to spend a lot more.

Powers on dast and the connectivity and downloading of docuements and apps is very fast. Good battery life.

I love my tablet. I can get my work done fast. I can catch up on shows and watch them on there.
