Computer shut off and won't restart within three months of purchase. Was always extremely slow - I've owned multiple chromebooks. This one was the newest and the absolute worst. Amazon would allow a return at this point. Best Buy does not. Buy from Amazon.

I have always liked Chromebooks for their ease of use, built in Google apps, and the Chrome OS. This Spin 514 Chromebook by Acer is exceptional. You literally open it up and it turns on. The display is full HD with a narrow bezel that makes everything on the screen look excellent. The keyboard is very comfortable, quiet and backlit. The chassis is lightweight, but strong and the metal finish looks great. One of the best features is the screen can be tilted to ANY angle, which is perfect for taking anywhere. Plus, it's crazy fast with the Ryzen 3 processor. The memory is more than sufficient for me since I store most things in the cloud. This is one of the best Chromebooks out there - a pleasant surprise from Acer.

Would give zero stars if i could. Slowest computer, reminds me of dial up. Takes so long to do anything. I just use my phone now. Super disappointed. GARBAGE DO NOT BUY.

it was in the shop more than i had it. it would just power off. three times they said it was a battery issue but never resolved. received store credit

I do NOT like this chromebook. Unable to keep connection for me to do Live videos or Zoom Meetings. Chromebook is slow and freezes,

This Acer Chromebook Spin 514 is engineered for the crowd that wants a laptop to be a useful thing for entertainment. It allows one to flip it backwards and use the "triangle" to make a media viewer that has it's own stand. The placement of the speakers on *the bottom* of the unit had me puzzled at first, since when it sits on your lap (yeah we do that sometimes!) or flat on a desk or table the sound is clearly obstructed, sort of forcing you to turn the volume all the way up. But when you have it "flipped" for viewing with the base now tilted upright and at the back of your display (the display auto-reverts so it's not upside-down) the sound is much much better. Not great, but better. Plug in or pair headphones and the sound is great. No built-in equalizer that I could find, but there are free and paid apps for that if you want. Realizing that the storage and memory are about what a cell phone has nowadays, the Ryzen processor makes the difference. This Chromebook seems faster than my phones or even Windows laptops with far more RAM. And the display is actually very very good with an AMD graphics processor. Youtube videos and TV look and sound great. The touch-screen seems adequately responsive, and its easy to scroll or flip up or sideways. I also like the sold, almost military look and feel of the metal outside case. The keyboard is also a cut above previous Acer products. This Spin 514 has quiet, easy to press keys that rival much more expensive laptops. It's also amazingly thin, not more than 2/3 of an inch thick or so when closed. I really like this Chromebook.

I really enjoyed using this laptop for the little time that I have had it. If you are a Chromebook user/lover you know that setting it up with your Gmail account makes it much smoother, and honestly convenient. The setup process in total took less than 15 minutes, probably closer to 10 minutes with no issues or hiccups. Out of the box you notice that is it a little heavier than you may think, but understandably so it is built to last and can take a little beating. It's still very portable for school, work, or carry it from room to room on Netflix. The display is bright, colorful, and the touchscreen is pretty responsive with minimal effort. What I always look for is a backlit keyboard, which this one has and it comes in handy when surfing the net in bed, or watching movies, etc. Nice keyboard layout didn't seem awkward for me even with my acrylic nails very minimal adjustment needed, no noticeable issues. The battery life is also great although I haven't pushed it to the 10 hours on one charge it s capable of. The Ryzen 3 used for this thing is a much needed, and appreciated feature because I feel that it can handle quite a bit without slowing down too much. I wouldn't go crazy leaving a bunch of tabs open though. If you are a student, maybe older, or tech is not really your thing I think this is a great, solid basic laptop option that will get the job done and give you all that you need with some great features to boot.

This is one amazing chromebook laptop. I honestly love how easy they are to use. This laptop come with everything a student needs. Touch screen and it flips so you can use it as a tablet. Super easy to set up and if you already have a Gmail account everything transfers to the new one. The speakers sound ok, its not a lightweight laptop. The camera is a good quality. Overrall its a great laptop for anyone.

Set up literally took minutes. After registering with my Google account, I was up and running. The Ryzen 3 processor has not disappointed at all. The full HD display is vibrant and quite sharp. The ability to use as both tablet and a traditional "laptop" layout scores for sure. Keyboard and TouchPad are both responsive. Apps load quickly and of course the touch screen feature works great also. It is solid in construction and that for my purposes is also the only reason I did not give 5 stars. It definitely feels bulky and has a bit too much weight to it and that takes away from the tablet feature. Otherwise I'd recommend this Chromebook.

This laptop is just the right size for me to pack and travel with. It's super light and boots up quickly - which is a big plus for me. Also has enough power to handle multiple apps and or streaming without a hiccup. Keys are a good size and feel. I am very happy with it and the so far zero lag when gaming.

My new Acer chromebook spin 514, has been pretty awesome quick & easy set up, touch screen is awesome easy to use the swipe action is easy & fast, the screen is crisp & clear color is vivid, the laptop quality is stronge & sturdy doesn’t feel cheap, it’s a Matt grey/silver in color, the keys background lights up in a lite bluish color which I love softer on the eyes I’m on my computer in the dark a lot, I love how you can flip the screen & angle it to your liking makes it great for watching a movie while laying down, I think the 14 inch screen is perfect for on the go, full HD touch screen, it’s fast the charge has lasted me for about 2 days when I’m using it most of the day. Has a camera, works great clear picture & audio is nice also. It has been my go to laptop sense I got it, got some free apps. With set up customizing my screen all fun & easy

I bought this laptop on sale a couple of months ago. At under $400 including taxes it's a fantastic deal. The touch screen interface is really smooth, it's got a compact profile and I like that it comes with linux installed. And it has more than enough power for me to work online while on the road. Now the bad... I agree with the other reviewers that the speaker quality isn't great but that doesn't bother me since it pairs well with my bluetooth headset; on occasion it can be a little sluggish when bringing it out of hibernation/sleep mode; and the tablet mode is a little awkward with the keyboard serving as the bottom/back. Overall though it's a great little portable device.

...requiring frequent reboots, making working on it totally frustrating. Doesn't matter if I have 1 tab open or 50 tabs open. I tried powerwashing it several times over the 10 months I suffered with it. I updated it as often as it could be done. My previous Acer Chromebook was amazing and never had this issue, so not sure if this one was a lemon or what. I purchased a new Chromebook from a different brand earlier today which has so far been totally great, so fingers crossed.

Does the job I expected but for some reason slower than my older inexpensive Acer chromebook. Disappointed in the weight but I assume in order to get a 14" convertible with touchscreen and backlit keyboard that is expected. I should have bought a smaller screen size in order to cut weight.

Wonderful for my needs as a teacher on thr go. It is super fast.

Works well. But find i miss the lighted keys. Also screen not bright enough for outdoors. Very good if in lit indoors room.

This is a great laptop - I'd definitely recommend it to a friend.

Very happy so far with this lap top! Arrived quickly, set up easy.

Haven't had chromebook two months even and its having the blank out screen spells and slow responding time.
