Over hyped paperweight and huge dissapointment
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Outside of using this Chromebook for writing purposes. It's an almost useless machine. Won't allow any newer apps to run. Not a single game runs properly in tablet, resize, or phone mode. You also can't flash the system and update to Linux or install a partition to run windows programs like most other chromebooks. Out of the five things I was expecting to use it for. It only works for writing and doesn't do anything more than a standard hundred dollar tablet already does. Even using it to do something as simple as watching YouTube is a clunky and frustrating experience. Battery life is nowhere near the promoted time either. Even if all you're doing is working in google docs you're lucky to get 12hrs before having to recharge. The only positive is the display being writer friendly.

Don’t buy this device!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This chromebook is nice and sharp out of the box. Was easy to set up and the sound was pretty good. After having for 6 days the screen went completely black. The power button says it’s on and I can hear the fan running. For the cost of this device this is shameful. I will be returning for refund. I’m afraid to get another one out of fear it will happen again. Aced needs to do better.

Chromebook...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to be honest here. I have built computers and have never used Imacs, or Chromebooks as I love building regular PC's with AMD or Intel processors. They work well for the most part and are reliable. Usually the first thing I do, I would get them set up and add a good antivirus software. Now here comes this Acer chromebook. Holy poopoo! It really has been an eye opener. I guess I underestimated or didn't understand the value of a chromebook in general. When I got this out of the packaging it was full of battery life (I still charged it for a few hours just to be sure). I was able to log on to my google account and it found all my tabs in chrome etc etc. So I figured I would go download my antivirus but did some research and found out that Chromebooks for the most part are so secure that they dont even require virus protection (obviously that depends in big part of how careful we consumers are and not opening sites that dont look legit etc. etc) So that was different, not downloading an antivirus but if you choose to do so you still can. I did not. Then I noticed how fast this little chromebook is! both in regular laptop and in touchscreen mode (flipping the screen backwards). I am not sure which I like more but currently im using the old fashion keyboard and screen (laptop mode) to type this review. I love the keyboard as well, the keys feel good just the right amount of sound, tactile feel is great and its also lit nicely. Battery is incredible so far too. It doesnt look like % has moved much at all for the last couple of days I have used it. I guess I was very wrong about chromebooks, I even told people to avoid them at my work as again I liked normal big and bulky laptops and desktops but this changes things for me. This chromebook is fast, light, user-friendly and very much worth every penny!

Awesome screen!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a tough little workbook, it's got Gorilla glass and a Mil Spec metal chassis so it's built to be rugged. It's also nice and sleek, and super fast. It has a powerful current generation Intel Core processor that is optimized for laptop use, with Intel graphics for a terrific user experience. There is no lag what so ever! This thing boots up super quickly, right at about 1 second from the time you open the cover and it wakes out of sleep mode. I love the 3:2 screen ratio as it allows me to see more of my spreadsheets and documents without needing to scroll. It also comes in handy when watching online videos as the title and descriptions that would normally cover part of the video fit nicely above and below the video so they don't cover any of the action. Overall I really enjoy using this laptop, and it's fun to play casual game on as well using the tablet mode. The only reasons I didn't give it 5 stars is the speakers are pretty weak. They're loud enough to hear just fine but lack any real punch. And the touch screen controls are slightly off... it constantly clicks on links I wasn't trying to click on when I'm scrolling. It also seems to have a hard time registering where I'm touching the screen when trying to hit small links like the X to close a web page. I have had to give up using the touch screen and use the mouse pad a few different times to click on what I wanted to because the touch screen just couldn't figure out what I was trying to press. An external mouse with scroll wheel would easily solve that issue though, and the included touch pad works just fine as well.

Business Grade Chromebook - Impressed!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using the Acer Chromebook Spin 713 laptop for a few days now and I love it and am convinced you can switch to a Chromebook for business use with no compromises. The first thing you notice about the Acer Spin 713 is the display. It's my first time using a 3:2 ratio display (it's rated at 2K FYI) and the extra vertical real estate is a real plus. It means that when you don't have to use Chrome in full-screen mode to feel like you're working on a 'real' computer. You can spin the screen 360 into tablet mode. It also works in "tent" mode, so you can invert the screen. Speaking of real computers. The Spin 713 is fast and spec'd incredibly well. 11th Gen Intel i5 and a 256GB SSD. There were a few times when using this I was like "Wow, this is fast". I was able to do things I never imagined I would do on a Chromebook, like Zoom calls with 20+ participants with no lag or jitter. Battery life is great. I was getting about 6-8 hours out of the battery with heavy use (WiFi on, lots of Zoom calls). Acer does support fast charging and a 30min charge will get you an extra 4 hours of battery life. So you can literally use the Acer Spin all day without panic. Other things to know. The Acer Spin 713 has 2x USB C Thunderbolt 4 ports (1 is needed for charging), 1x USB 3.0, and 1 full-sized HDMI. Thank you Acer for USB C charging and a full-size HDMI port! Design-wise, the outer and inner shell are matt grey-black. It's fingerprint-resistant (thank you again Acer!) and less prone to scratches than a gloss finish. The screen is also Gorilla glass.A note about the design, which I really like is the edge of the screen has a very thin silver-colored bezel. It makes the Acer Spin 713 look premium and business-like. Overall, I'm convinced and this will replace my dated and old Windows laptop. If you've already switched all your files to the cloud, then the Acer Spin 713 is the right machine for you - the beautiful screen, great battery life, and looks smart. Chrome OS has also come a long way, so you can use Zoom, MS Office Web Apps, etc., and basically anything in the Google Play store - so it doesn't feel limiting and in fact feels liberating (the battery life is infinitely better than a Windows PC). If you have used Chrome OS before, prepare to be surprised at how far it has come. If you're new to Chrome OS, you will be glad you made the move. Bonus tips. I had to look this up, so maybe it helps others. To right-click on a Chromebook, touch the track with two fingers!

Almost perfect!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Starting with the unboxing I must say that, in my opinion, the experience of unpacking has not been given great detail, I would say that what is really important is directly in the guts of this laptop. It is a simple box with a few seals, the seals are removed, it opens and voila, you have the laptop in sight and your charger next to it, that's all. Once you have connected the charger and turned on the laptop, the first thing to do is enter the username and password of our google account, in case of not having one, it is simply to create one and then device configuration can begin. Regarding the use and performance, I can only mention that the processor exceeds expectations and adequately fulfills its work, the synergy between the components when putting this laptop to work, is very good, I have no complaints, it is fluid, the the temperature is not very high despite using several programs at the same time, the connectivity to other devices, peripherals and the internet is very stable, it has not generated any inconvenience for me so far. The fact of being touch and being able to use the laptop even as a table to be able to fold 360 degrees, makes the experience of use a pleasant one, the size is compact but easy to transport besides that it weighs very little, aesthetically it has a minimalist design but fine at the same time, I find it pleasing to the eye. Now the part that could be a bit complicated is that when choosing this laptop you have to be very clear about the result you are looking for based on the needs and apps that will be used on a daily basis, I mention the above since I was trying download some apps and games but unfortunately it was not possible for me since the operating system of this laptop is Chrome OS, let's say it is out of the standard in software matters, it will have to work with programs equivalent to the common ones but for Chrome OS. It is not a great inconvenience since there are a considerable number of apps that can give you a similar result that are even free since Google has a very varied ecosystem in terms of software designed by themselves. Considering what I mentioned before, I think that the purchase of this pc is a good desicion, the battery lasts a long time, it bends completely, it is compact but it has a good video and audio quality, the keyboard has enough space that allows you to write fluently and does not make excessive noise. The components that it has, I could say that they are practically the latest generation and it's shown in daily use, the only thing that could be a problem in the future is the memory since it only has 256GB, but with an external memory of the desired capacity this issue is easy to solve. I can't recommend it for gaming since the graphics included with the ram that is only 8GB will not be enough, maybe some other game not so heavy, but not to play competitively. In summary, being able to have a compact laptop / tablet, with a pretty nice processor, ram and memory, in addition to all the facilities if used in combination with google apps and a battery that really lasts several hours with a single charge, it makes it worth the price, I can definitely recommend it.

Nice Chromebook but with a fatal flaw
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As others have noted, there's a faint crackling noise that can be heard at low volume. No excuse for that whatsoever, will be returning it. I would not buy it unless you can live with the noise.

The Spin 713 Spun my Chromebook Expectations
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Acer Chromebook Spin 713 Laptop 13.5” is a luxury Chromebook. In my mind, I have always held Chromebooks in their own corner not really being comparable to other OS options; however, this Acer has blurred that misconception and is impressive on multiple fronts. Battery life is daunting, stating up to 11 hours on one charge and although I have not timed it specifically, the battery is quite impressive. You can stream media, leave the Chromebook not charging for a couple days and jump right back in to streaming and still be on the same charge. Which I feel often a significant charge is lost while dormant. It also charges quickly, boasting a fast charge which will provide up to 4-hours battery life within 30 minutes charging. The screen display is beautiful. My parents were down this weekend to celebrate my graduation, and my father is awestruck by the color and image quality of this Chromebook. This is in comparison to other Chromebook, as my mom has 3 she uses for teaching in school. He genuinely was like “that’s a Chromebook? Wow!”. I had my mom fiddle with it a bit, since she uses a Chromebook daily in the classroom with her students, and she was impressed. She said that the display held more information that she was accustomed to, text display was a great size, easy to read, and image display and streaming is crisp. Boasting a 2k display, even in the typical 4k world, well deserved quality and images overall. The best aspects to the screen, in my opinion, are first being touch screen is such a convenience but on top of that the full folding “spin” aspect. The Chromebook can be folded back, resulting in just a display with keyboard behind. This can be both horizontal or vertical display and when reading, when in vertical display, a boatload of text may be displayed without any scroll. What is better, along with this flip back is that you may use this design to prop itself for movies or streaming. The overall look is sleek, and the material seems durable. Often time for my devices I believe I NEED to have a screen protector to be comfortable using them; however, in this instance I felt the quality of both the display and Chromebook itself are quite well done and up to the task. There is an HDMI port, and two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4. There is also a standard USB and microSD reader! For myself, I received this right before graduation, and a regret is not being able to have this sooner. The device is so portable yet convenient I know that I would have been able to enable myself in notetaking, studying, video review, or more using it. A bit envious even that I completed my schooling with a traditional laptop. The one caveat is that it is a Chromebook. With the Chromebook OS. Simply put, what a Chromebook comes down to is the OS. Applications need to be installed through the Google platform, which includes the Google Play Store. This is not too cumbersome, as the Google Play Store is quite expansive with availability of applications. Yes, this is not as easily controllable, but makes for a clean presentation and trusted applications. Whenever something has a tablet feel (for me applications mean tablet – but not in this case) one of my concerns is files, and how much storage I have. The Spin 713 has amble capabilities. 256GB SSD, not only providing space for files but also providing a fast SSD for bootup. Back to my mom – her first response upon opening was “Oh, that was fast!”. Ultimately, if one is well prepared for what they are buying when signing on for a Chromebook, the Acer Spin 713 will not disappoint.

BAD
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Owned for 3 days over 30 days, And the battery completely died and would not charge at all. Brought back and Bestbuy would not let me return it or replace since I didn't pay for their "electronic care" Forced to go through the manufacturer which took 6 weeks. I had to go buy another laptop as I MUST have one for work. Bestbuy would not help me in anyway.

Shame on you for trying to sell me this used Junk.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked up an Open Box - Excellent Certified - version of this only to be handed a banged up, used, scratched laptop without any packaging, a charger, or anything else. I was told that the manager might be able to take an additional 10 percent off. I checked the battery health and it was at 82% remaining health (Health, not charge!) and I really didnt feel comfortable with the fact that Best buy is trying to rip off their customers with such a misleading product description and open box grading. Some poor parent is going to purchase this exact turkey for their going back to school child and it's just shameful.

best chromebook I have used
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my review of the Acer Chromebook spin 713 that I received as part of the Best Buy tech insider network. I have to say, I have never been a big fan of chromebooks. To me, they just seemed limited and something that is only useful if you are a student. However, Chromebooks have come a long way since I first dabbled with one and this Acer is as close to a PC as I have ever seen. I haven't found anything that I needed to do that this unit wasn't able to do. It is fast, all day battery, terrific screen, an unbelievable assortment of ports, great sound and a very premium feel. The screen takes on the 3:2 aspect ratio, which I also have on a Microsoft machine. At first I thought the tall screen was kind of weird, but when I actually used it for documents and spreadsheets, I found this to be the perfect shape for getting work done. As far as ports, the Acer comes with a HDMI, 2 usb c thunderbolt 4 ports, a full size usb port, a micro sd card slot and a port for a mic and ear buds. It also has a really good selfie camera for video conferencing. My much more expensive windows laptops don't come anywhere close to the connectivity of this machine. My unit has the Intel Evo i5 processor, 8 gig of ram and 256 gig of storage. It is extremely fast. I have been streaming movies since 8:00 this morning, working through the Chrome browser and downloading apps. It is now 3:00 p.m. and the battery is still at 55% with the screen on almost the entire time. Like I said earlier, I have not been a big fan of Chromebooks, but I believe this Acer spin 713 may very well be the one that has me using a Chromebook as my daily work machine. I really have nothing bad to say about it.
