*This laptop qualified for 10% birthday discount savings Honestly, the keyboard is a deal breaker, especially if it's for gaming. The key actuation pressure is very firm and I find myself missing keystrokes (coming from an OG Apple 108-key). The next gen Nitro has white on black keys and white back-lighting... If you main this laptop then you'll most likely adjust to the typewriter keys, but expect typing fatigue if you're in school and write papers. Red on black is a painful design error that's intensified by the red-only back-lighting (visually uncomfortable back-lighting in dark rooms). They key legends are reversed from clear red plastic and almost require constant back-lighting (except for WASD and arrows keys, huh?!).

Excellent entry level gaming laptop. I don't play anything all too graphic intensive, mostly just LoL. It meets all my requirements while still being silent and getting decent battery life

These are excellent budget gaming laptops with a lot areas to expand. We actually bought the first Nitro 5 for our daughter 2 years ago and I finally broke down and got one for myself so we could play a couple of games on Steam together. We found with her laptop, the 256GB SSD filled up quickly so we threw in a TB HDD for game storage and left the SSD for bootup and run. Knowing that, I bought a TB HDD when I ordered this laptop and installed it before I even booted the computer (Thank you, YouTube). It has been great to be able to replace my old antique Toshiba laptop and actually play some games with my daughter.

Like many reviews, this Acer Nitro run very cool and I really like the build quality! The keyboard types well, not really crazy about the red letter keys but it's okay. Great value even at $670.

My son loves it. Easy to set up, great graphics and easily handles the speed of the games he plays. His only wish would be for larger SSD. But this is a fantastic machine for the price. Great value.

Great computer for the price. Windows 10 and my games are all running smoothly thanks to the Ryzen and 1650 combo given. A 1650 is definitely better than a 1050 TI! Although, I highly recommend that you upgrade the RAM to 16GB, because Ryzen really benefits from dual-channel speeds. Make sure to match the RAM model exactly! I love that this is so upgradeable. There's a spare M.2 slot, and even an addition 2.5" slot (with adapter in a box) as well. Adding in storage is extremely easy and helpful when you add games. This is smaller than the older Nitro 5 I replaced, which is appreciated. I doubt you will find a better laptop for the price. This is fantastic.

Was a great laptop, unfortunately i have to send in for repair. I dont fault best buy and acer was quick to honor the warranty. Plays all of my games with no issues. I still recommend to others.

This thing is amazing. I can run my game, run YouTube, and video edit at the same time with no lag. I’ll have it split screened in my tv.

The laptop performs well and has good build quality. I am very happy with the screen, which was a nice surprise as many professional reviews were not positive about it. Battery life is indeed long. The downside is that even though software is up to date, there have been many instances of the screen failing to turn on when the device is powered up, requiring a soft reset. The system is up to date. I would rate 4 1/2 stars if possible but cannot in good faith give it a perfect score. I suspect it will be possible to fix this issue eventually.

The performance is very good. The SSD and memory are small but is easily upgraded. So after the upgrades i am very happy everything is going smoothly and very fast.

We purchased this gaming laptop last year for our 13 year old from Christmas & he loves it. The graphics are great and he has had no complaints.

Got this on sale. Wasnt sure if it would be good, but my son likes it better than his HP Pavilion gaming laptop it replaced. Both had similar specs.

Really good computer and I was just wondering if while you game are you supposed to have it plugged in because it dies fast if not plugged in while gaming.

Very happy so far. Bought this for my son. He uses it to play Minecraft, Terraria, and a few other games. Nothing that's highly demanding. It works very well for those titles.

i’ve had it for a couple weeks and this laptop has been nothing but amazing... super cool temps and good performance. highly recommend to anyone on a budget for gaming!

My daughters laptop died and this was a great replacement for it. Really a good upgrade for her with an SSD, much faster processor and an included Nvidia graphics card.
