Possibly one of the best bangs for your buck when having to do with gaming laptops. Can run every game I play on high settings with ease. Although the battery life isn’t very long, i just keep it plugged in. The keyboard works well. If you’re looking for something with superior sound, this is not your choice. The speakers are very flat sounding, and all treble. Storage is also a concern, you will definitely need to get an additional HDD or SSD. Otherwise you’re limited to only a few AAA games.

Been using it for a few weeks now and am pretty pleased with it. Was looking at the comparable Lenovo Legion but went with the Nitro for the price. Setup is quick and easy. Added another 8GB of RAM and a second 500GB SSD to supplement the SSD it came with and still came in for less money than the stock Legion. The expandability of this unit is a big selling point. It still has room for another HDD if needed. I use it primarily for business and architectural CAD work rather than gaming but the setup is definitely up to the task. My only real gripe is the red keyboard backlighting. For my purposes, white backlit keys would be better. Speaker quality is only so-so but some wireless buds make for a good listening experience. Webcam quality could be a lot better and a privacy shutter would be nice. That being said, the tactile feel of the keyboard is very good, as is the touchpad. The case is sleek, lightweight but solid, balanced, and well built. The cooling is quiet and very capable. Access to the guts is pretty easy but you have to take the case apart to access the DIMM slot. Not a big deal, but a little door over the modules like other laptops would be nice. USB ports are adequate for my purposes but some users may not like having with all the ports located on the sides, The ell-type power plug in the back is a nice feature. Seems to be less tangle-prone than a side-mounted power cord. While other reviewers have been more critical of the display quality, I find it to be crisp and bright if you just take a few minutes to customize the settings. A lot of manufacturers are marketing laptops in this configuration right now (15.6", Ryzen 5 4600 w/ 8GB, GeForce GTX 1650 and 256GB SSD) but for the money, I don't think there's a better value out there than the NITRO.

I purchased this system at release. It’s fantastic as delivered. You get a entry level to medium gaming laptop under $699. The Ryzen 5 and NVIDIA combination is a good performed and well recognized in all modern games. You won’t have driver or any other issues. I always get carried away and upgrade anything I purchase. So directly after picking this up curbside I headed to MicroCenter and purchased a DDR4-3200 16GB upgrade and a 512GB NVMe SSD. I had no issues removing the bottom cover and replacing both drive and memory. I did a full windows reinstall using a USB media setup from another computer. The windows digital activation worked perfectly. Windows detected and installed the drivers. I did uninstall the Killer LAN drivers using the killer tool and install a new set. I also downloaded all the Nitro apps from Acer. My Microsoft Gamepass games work great with my connected XBOX controller and Bose headphones for audio. Both are Bluetooth. No matter how you want to use this system it will be great. The only limit might be developing for native intel CPUs and IOS the need Intel CPUs for a build. 99% of you all wont care about this detail. The ports are good and is the IPS display. You can add a SSD 2.5 drive if desired, I upgraded the NVMe to save on heat and battery rather than add a new drive. Again, most people don’t need to worry. The difference is minimal but I like to be super technical. Upgraded to Windows Workstation as well and that is great. RDP works great as well as other encryption. The system has A TPM for bitlocker. The build is better than expected for a $669 system. The case is solid system weight is very light compared to some other gaming laptops. The bottom fans are quite. Use the Nitro utilities to monitor the system. I did not install AV software. I cranked up windows built in defender and firewall for local and public networks. That is working great. I also updated windows and rebooted as needed.

I bought this laptop because it boasted the best specs at an insanely reasonable price. However there are a few drawbacks. The first draw backs are the loud fans, they aren't loud when you are doing light tasks, but still audible in a quiet environment. But heaven forbid you load up an actual game, then this thing sounds like a jet engine. I repasted the CPU and GPU, but it only decreases about 2-3C on idle, I wish AMD would let us undervolt the CPU like intel does. The second drawback is battery life, it is advertised as 10 hours, but realistically its 4.5 or less depending on your load. from 100% charge my laptop died doing nothing but watching youtube after roughly 4 hours and 30ish minutes. The last drawback is the WiFi card, its a WiFi 6 card which is great, but I do not, and most people don't have a WiFi 6 router yet... This thing would disconnect from the WiFi and even crashed my router more then once when downloading, streaming or trying to play a game. I tried the ethernet port, and it still has some connection issues, I used the cable that I had in my desktop and during gaming I would get lag spikes and freezes. Now that all sounds bad, but I did get the internet working with a few windows tweaks, and when you consider a laptop for $700 after tax that can run most games (Not on high settings of course) its a pretty good deal, just put a second stick of RAM in, and a secondary M.2 or SSD for all your extra goodies. The windows tweaks to fix the wireless adapter crashing was you have to go into the adapter properties, and change the frequency off of 802.11ax to either 802.11ac or 802.11n

A great laptop for the money. For a writing it has a must have in being able to turn off the track pad. Plenty of processing power and storage upgrade availability. Being a Ryzen CPU laptop you want to get the fastest RAM available as an upgrade. The battery safe charge mode is new to me in any laptop and a welcome feature. Acer used the same chase and by appearances cooling system as higher end laptops making it run cool and quite for a gaming laptop. Being labeled a gaming laptop, I would say as a work laptop it would also work well, given its ability to have three storage drives, providing plenty of storage, and with the use of an external monitor film editing and photo editing are very workable in a pinch. The compromise on speaker quality is worth the other compromises given headphones, or other external speaker set ups are a very viable option.

Excellent Laptop at the 669 I paid (less best buy points and other discounts). There are others with significant graphics upgrades for not a lot more but from most reviews this seemed to be an extremely reliable model which it has been straight out of the box. I play games like Company of Heroes on it at mid-high settings and its does just fine. Im sure it would handle APEX and Warzone as well but I play those on Xbox. I mainly got this for doing stock market graphs and research. I did take out the 8gb stick and installed 32gb this did allow me to raise my graphics settings in gaming to high on Company of Heroes 2 from medium (they say 8 hobbles the card/cpu combo and 32 is probably overkill save some money and go to 16gb and you should be fine). However now with the 32gb of 3200 ram this baby is smooth as silk. Battery time is decent if just surfing and doing light stuff it lasts several hours. Heavy gaming will get ya about 2hrs. I typically use it plugged in. Weight wise its not super light but its not as heavy as others. Screen quality is probably the only downside to this model. It wont replace your TV for watching netflix but it definitely is better than using a phone. I did some tweaks to the settings and that has helped. Overall i am very glad I bought this laptop from Best Buy.

This is one of the best laptops I have ever owned. Not because its the highest performing, but because it is the total package. Don't let the 1650 GPU turn you off and make you think this laptop is a dog. It plays Cyberpunk at low/med at 60fps which is respectable for what it is. I use this to play FFXIV at max settings and get 90-120 fps throughout the game. The laptop runs very cool too, I cannot get temps to hit above 70C even during stress tests and benchmarks. The only modifications I made to this laptop were adding a 2nd SSD for more storage and adding another 8GB ram stick to have 16 total ram. You would be surprised on how this laptop performs with a new simple memory upgrades. We have owned this for a year and a half and I have put this through its paces countless times. Never had an issue, We paid $649 back in 2020 and even at the current price, I wouldn't hesitate. I am completely satisfied with this.

    Zen 2 architecture, Expandability galore!

It's arrived! The Zen 2 CPUs dominate and this machine is no exception. I tested this machine on Cinebench R20 yesterday and the results obliterate the i5 10600T the i7 10850H the Ryzen 7 2700e! I scored 3,079 with current specs and no ram upgrades. It's just a tiny bit behind it's big brother the Ryzen 7 4800h. Don't be discouraged by some reviews saying it arrived DOA. Plug the AC adapter in until you hear a nice audible click and it's ready to roar. This is a powerhouse laptop with stunning thermals. The user-controllable fans and quad heatsink design allow this laptop to run very cool and it hits 10 hours of runtime streaming with wifi on with the standard 54wh battery. Wow! This is an enthusiast's dream. Western Digital NVMe with an additonal M.2 slot, 3200mhz ddr4 memory with an open DIMM slot and open HDD bay (includes data cable). This is unheard of with Zen 2 laptops. Most are hindered by soldered memory and minimal expandability. Acer hit this out of the park and into outer space. Watch out Intel, 7nm is the future!

Purchased The Acer Nitro 5 with the AMD 4600H CPU after researching and comparing several gaming laptops in same price range. I am happy with it and my son who I bought it for is extremely happy with it. We upgraded the RAM to 16Gb and added a Sandisk SSD drive, as a father and son project. I especially like how easy it was to upgrade. Speed over Intel is the main advantage. Nice Wifi, ethernet port, HDMI and 3 USB including 1 USB-C. Great incentive and reward for doing homework and excellent grades and playing games after all the hard work.

Ultimately I returned this laptop, not because the laptop itself functioned badly, but because of possible issues with the laptop they sent me in particular. Firstly, the day I received and unpackaged the laptop, I looked over the laptop and immediately noticed one of the screws at the bottom was missing, so I called the support number provided in the package and asked if they could do anything to fix that, but they stated there was nothing they could do about it. A little disappointing, but I was willing to forgive that and continue to use the laptop, not wanting to make a big thing over a tiny screw I could probably buy, as I could just buy some with a screwdriver whenever I decide to upgrade the laptop in the future. However, another, less easily ignorable issue occurred when the battery started to have occasional issues charging. While that sounds bad, I did find that it started charging fine after jostling the charging cable into the outlet a bit. Can't be sure if this was an issue with the wall outlet or the laptop, because I tried different outlets in my room that I know all work perfectly well, but sometimes found that the laptop just wouldn't charge no matter the outlet until I jiggled the plug around. This only happened twice and wasn't an issue before returning the laptop, so keep that in mind. I'm giving this laptop a 4/5 because, while I did have these issues, the laptop still worked great for gaming and general computer use, working just as good as a budget PC I made years ago. The issues I had were probably just specific to the laptop I bought, and thankfully Best Buy's return window was still open for me to get a full refund, no questions asked. I've already bought a different Nitro 5 that hasn't had any of the issues I listed here, so hopefully that does speak to this being an issue specific to the one I bought. TL;DR: I had some little issues here and there, but outside of those things the laptop worked great for gaming and general use, so I'd recommend it if you're on a tight budget.

I was very on the fence on getting this laptop because of the negative reviews online. I was struggling to decide between this and the tuf Asus gaming laptop. I went with this laptop and wow I'm glad I did I've had it for a lil under a month now and it's amazing (subject to change after I've had it longer obv I'll try updating if it bunks out on me) so far tho this laptop has impressed me a lot. I added in some laptop upgrades I highly recommend, doubled the ram so it has 16g of ram now don't really need anymore for gaming at least for what I play, added a second ssd in the spare m.2 slot because the stock ssd is very small definitely recommend getting a 1T ssd or 500g ssd to add to the second available slot. The laptop plays all the games I enjoy on max settings and runs like a beaut, solid frames. Games I play for those considering picking this laptop up. Apex legends, halo mcc, GTA 5, farcry, COD warzone. Just a few games off the top of the dome it ran perfectly. Great budget laptop, no damage to the product. Shipping it did come a little bit late due to covid but it was understandable. upgrading the laptop was a breeze didn't require a lot of effort, I barely know anything about computers but I had no problem getting it setup/upgraded and then feeling like a really Einstein afterwards haha Anyone looking at this laptop and wondering if this laptop is a beast. IT IS!! ITS SO BUTTERY SMOOTH BABYYY ;) superb entry gaming laptop that'll keep you gaming real good for years to come. Stay comfy and be safe my fellow nerds! Cheers!!

In the few weeks of owning this labtop, it has been running great! It can handle my heavy load FPS games, and for the price you cant beat it. Love the way it runs, and how portable it really is. I also love that you can modify this labtop, pretty unique and awesome. I already put in a 2TB HHD into it, and currently waiting on another 8GB DDR4 stick. Would recommend for a cheap, but powerful gaming labtop.

My goal was to replace a 10-year-old laptop with something economical, but I kept finding issues with different manufacturer's ideas of what the customer needs vs. what they actually want. From high-end 'pad' style laptops to Chromebooks, to the in-between .. only met my frustration. The Acer Nitro 5 hit the mark on all of my needs for a laptop; multiple USB ports, Cat5 port, expandable memory, lighted keyboard, etc... Even though the laptop is a 'gaming' system, it's GREAT to know that the system will confidently handle my mundane day-to-day life needs while being used. I don't 'game', but the system's performance is so fantastic that maybe I should :-). The 18 months no interest repay offer was too good to pass up! If you're looking for a solid laptop that will handle your typical needs, the Acer Nitro 5 is a laptop that should make your shortlist.

pretty good laptop, let me explain the screen is pretty amazing, the quality is great. i love the sharp shape of the computer keyboard wise i love the black and red color combo and when it lights up, but when the light is turned off (after around a min of inactivity) unless you're in good lighting its hard to see the letters on the keyboard. i have to press a random button before typing to get it to light it in order for me to see. battery life is okay but i wish it was better. with regular use (on social media youtube etc) it will last you about 3-5 hours. while gaming it will last you 45min-1hour depends on the game you're running. it also tells you how long it will take to charge or die ex: 1 hour & 50 mins till full charge/ 46 mins remaining its really helpful. also something i love about this is the space available next to the touch pad, i put my mouse there to game and it works great. sound is alright but i wish there was more bass, also wish it was louder but its alright. brightness on this thing is good, but VERY bright it hurts my eyes at times.i also wish you could dim it more, id want to turn it down rather than during on night mode. it turns the screen a pinkish color. im my opinion is too bright. they should implement a reduce white point feature like apple that we can download in a new update.

Great Value this is mid level laptop but the price it’s for a entry one, this laptop should cost 850 to 900, the AMD Ryzen 5 it’s way fast than I5 even I7 and the temperature is very low between 48F to 65F max, the temperature for I7 are between 65F to 90F, you can update the DDR4 up to 32gigas and support 3200Mhz, you can play call of duty, CS GO, GTA 5 smooth.

I just received my laptop last night and I love it so far. I purchased a 16GB RAM kit and installed it immediately upon receiving it and before powering on. It was easy to get the bottom panel off, albeit carefully. It starts up super fast and runs applications quickly and smoothly. It runs games like Sims 4 and SimCity (Cities of Tomorrow) wonderfully on high/ultra graphic settings. I also tried playing Destiny on it and it runs extremely smooth as well. I plan to get 2 additional SSDs to fit in the 2.5" slot and 1.8" slot to expland the space on the computer. The installed SSD had 237GB but with the preloaded apps, it gave me about 180GB left. I uninstalled some apps I didn't need and gave me a little bit more. Not a huge deal to me since I don't tend to save a lot of things locally. Only wanting to increase space so it can hold more games. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase :)

Needed something for the virtual classes and wanted something that can handle software to grow with my child. Can't have all work and no play, right? Good specs for the price, not too heavy, don't really hear the fan even during heavy video sessions. This has a network port I wanted for hard wire instead of wi-fi, HDMI, and just enough USB ports. Speakers could be louder but good enough for class sessions if relatively quiet. Pretty decent camera for the video. Large touchpad is responsive but I have a small mouse attached for class. Keyboard is a bit wide for a child so I attached a small external one. It's better than my work computer, if that means anything ...

I like this system because you can open it up and actually upgrade things. It comes with 8GB RAM and goes up to 32GB. Easy enough to add additional module and swap out the existing 8GB. This comes with 1 256 PCIe SSD (see specs for full specification). There is a bay and an additional PCIe slot. Lots of youtube videos on how to do things. So far the Ryzen 5 has risen to all challenges. Online system speed checks run very favorable when compared to iCore processors (iCore5 & iCore7). somewhat quirky when it comes to attaching things like 3mm earphones and power cord, but once you get use to it, I have found they work fine (no reconfiguring or downloads needed)

I agree with the reviewers that Acer mislead many myself included with thinking this model had the 144hz panel when it is 60hz. Also the the 4 zone RGB keyboard is only Red in this model. Currently Acer has removed this model from their website . They added the following to the Nitro page website. “Specifications may vary depending on model and/or region. All models subject to availability.” I had chatted with Acer support and he could only confirm I had the 60hz panel. This laptop price is on the high end of my budget for what you are getting it still seems to be a good buy. The AMD Ryzen 4600H processor was the main reason I wanted this model. It has been doing quite well in benchmark tests. The power supply plug was moved from the side to the rear. You do need to firmly push it in to engage. In light usage the laptop is relatively cool. The keyboard quality is fine. The sound when playing Youtube music videos with earbuds is crisp and clear. Videos look better than my old laptop. Overall I do like the laptop but have to subtract a star for the spec changes.
