*Performance is good for the price.
*Weight isn't bad as I thought.
*Battery life is good for a gaming laptop. I get like 5 hours pretty reliably, and it could be higher if I reduced brightness more.
*Webcam/microphone is good no echoing issues so far on skype, zoom or google hangouts. The one thing though is that the speakers aren't very loud.
*Screen is fine. it's not the best and there's like some slightly brighter spots on the edge of the screen by the bezel. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it's not really that noticeable.
*Charging port position is the one annoying thing since it's at the back of the laptop and swivels it's sometimes like awkwardly positioned.
*I installed more ram and another SSD and it was pretty easy to take off the back panel
*This laptop doesn't support Windows Home drive encryption, because it says it doesn't have "Modern Standby". If you want that you have to upgrade to Windows Pro or use a different program to do that.

A very good value. The Ryzen 4600H is an excellent CPU, and the GTX 1650, while not a powerhouse by any stretch, is capable enough to handle modern AAA titles at medium plus settings. The keyboard and trackpad are surprisingly nice, flex is minimal. Storage and RAM are easily expandable. Cooling seems quite efficient. The biggest drawback is the display. Color and brightness are decent, but It is a 60Hz panel, and you absolutely will have some amount of backlight bleed, although how much varies considerably on a panel to panel basis. Overall, a very nice gaming laptop for the price.

I originally purchased this laptop as a second laptop because it has the capability to install a second hard drive. It even came with a ribbon cable wire for the additional hard drive. I had planned to install a version of Linux and set up a dual boot system on the second drive. However, after initially setting up the Windows OS, I realized that I really missed a laptop with a touch screen. The screen is more than clear with high definition, but I just really needed a touch screen to enlarge items. So for that reason, I returned it.
Overall, it's a really great and well made laptop. The dual cooling fans and the lightning fast AMD 3 gigahertz processor is fantastic. It also has the capability to expand the RAM to 32GB. The exterior design is also exceptionally nice. I just needed a touch screen.

I usually game on a high end desktop PC but I have been traveling a lot lately so I figured I would get a laptop to use on the go. I chose this one because of the processor and price point and I’ve been nothing but impressed. I added another SSD and another 8gb of RAM and this thing is perfect. Gaming and multitasking is a breeze and the build quality is really good. It is surprisingly cool and quiet as well. I would highly recommend picking one of these up!

I've heard a lot of bad things about Acer computers but this computer is great. Amazing graphics and sound, runs really smooth and fast and i love the light up keyboard and the thin frame around the screen.

We have been very happy with this laptop so far. It has an additional available RAM slot for expansion, which was a huge selling point for us.
The specifications for this model are very good for an entry level gaming laptop, and it's price point is well below many similar models. It's biggest downside was only 8gb of ram, but the cost savings and ease of upgrading made it a real bargain.
If I'm being honest, the webcam leaves a little to be desired, so if you plan on also doing a lot of video conferencing, etc. You might want to consider a separate webcam. But that is really our only constructive criticism of this excellent laptop

It’s a decent Gaming PC, runs Apex Legends very well in medium settings. I personally use it for streaming my PS4 to twitch using a GameCapture software paired with Elgato. I suggest upgrading the RAM and having a separate mouse and keyboard to play games on this. If you’re getting this to stream your main PC or your gaming consoles it’s PERFECT.
If you’re getting a laptop for gaming I would get something better. Even a Gaming PC at the same price point would be better for gaming than getting this laptop. iBuyPower has some good PCs for 600 with the same specs as this Acer Nitro.

Excellent budget gaming laptop (or portable workhorse for labor-intensive programs).

I purchased this as an educational device for a STEM-inclined teen who likes computer animation, also does light engineering CAD stuff and dabbles with some of the lesser demanding Steam games. So far so good, but the 256 GB hard drive fills up pretty fast so you will want to add an external hard drive (fortunately there is a USB-C port for that). This is the cheapest laptop with a discrete graphics card from a recognizable manufacturer, so all in all quite a good deal. So once your expectations are set accordingly - for example it does not support more than one external monitor but it DOES support expanding the base memory to up to 32 GB and it is quite easy to do so - then this device will have no problem meeting them.

After reading a few bad reviews, or partially bad, I decided to try this laptop, i dont have any regrets, it runs faster than I expected, and while I wish it had an RGB keyboard, im ok with the red. biggest issues I heard are with the screen, I havent seen any issues yet, color is nice and brightness also. did some refresh rate tests and it passed so far. I have a few planned upgrades, another 8gb ram and an SSD for more storage. all in all I am happy I purchased it. I also found it open box locally. helped me purcase sooner , as I was saving towards a new one, only thing missing is the accesories, may have been a display unit

I’ve had this laptop for a while now and I e had no issue. I have added and HDD and another SSD inn addition to the one that came with it so it has 4TB of space now. Added an extra ram card so This laptop was great on its on but the ability to customize it a bit better is great. Yes its bulky and slightly heavy but its worth it. Games I run on it : Apex Legends, COD, New World and Guilty Gear Strive runs easily. The charging cable is a bit annoying as you have to make sure you hear the click but otherwise great laptop.

I am blown away by this laptop. the beauty alone is a seller but from once you turn it on the real experience begins. The first time I've even had a Ryzen processor and i'm glad i made the decision. I am a creative artist. Doing a lot of photoshop, blender and i dabble into CAD. This computer handles it all with NO problems at all. I do some gaming too but more so 3D, rendering and creativity. I believe this is my favorite laptop i've ever had. Def. worth it. and the price was so inexpensive. Nvidia graphics... :) too :) how can you beat that combination.

Great product for price still despite spec change

This product still remains a great machine for the price, however, it would have been an even greater machine if Acer fulfilled what they originally stated the specs were. You are NOT getting a 144Hz refresh rate with this, despite Acer originally saying so and still continuing to tell consumers that you are. The refresh rate on this model (AN515-44-R99Q) is 60Hz. Also, to all those that are saying this machine was dead on arrival, that’s not true. I ran into the same issue, however, it was user error NOT Acer error. You simply need to PUSH the charger in all the way until you hear a click noise and you should be good. Overall, great, solid device for the price you pay. Just wish Acer was not sketch in the beginning with the specs, primarily the refresh rate. I have a screen of a before and after of the product description on this exact model in which Acer modified the spec details after many consumers purchased. For me, that’s not a game changer but for others it may be. Also, if anyone is wondering what RAM to use when upgrading, I used this and it integrated just fine: CT8G4SFS832A (Google that and you should find some stores or Amazon with full stock on it). Thanks Acer and Best Buy!

Absolutely love this laptop. Great graphics. When I am gaming I feel as if I am on one of my consoles. Its like a mini-PC and a gaming console in one. Lightweight and easy to use. My only issue with this item and why I am giving it four stars is the light up keyboard. Some of the letters on the keyboard had began to rub off. I managed to fix this issue by purchasing a keyboard protector off of Amazon.
Other than that no issues with this laptop. And the employee that showed me this gem was a gamer himself. Way to go Best Buy!

I am appreciating the power of this computer.
For the money I can't beat the Ryzen 5 coupled with the capable GTX 1650.
It is easy to upgrade. Bottom cover comes off easily and great access to ram, hard drives, fans, etc. I have added a secondary ssd's and an additional 16gb for a total of 24gb. (There are two bays) Everything has worked well both for work and play.
Screen resolution is great as well as I have connected to a 40" TV screen with very good visual results.
