Great for regular use but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, I'm not an expert in technology but like any student, I know a bit. I bought this laptop as a student first and gaming second. It has been 6 days since I got the laptop so I haven't actually been to school as the year hasn't started; however, due to the 8th gen i5, the laptop is very quick for internet browsing and HD streaming. The issue is mainly with gaming. I haven't ever really gamed even on console so I didn't want to spend too much for gaming so I though this was a solid option but now I'm having second thoughts on gaming. I got Call of Duty Advanced Warfare which should be able to run on this very well. However, after half and hour of game play, the game crashes with a message saying something about the GPU. For regular use, this laptop is perfectly fine but as far as gaming goes, I have had a bad experience. I don't see the point of spending $700 for this laptop.

Best laptop I've ever used.

Great for the price but unreliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop because it had good reviews for the most part and had plenty of power for the games that I was going to play. The laptop did very well for the first couple of months and has since quit charging and no longer turns on. Of course it is under warranty I have to send it into Acer but I have to send the whole thing in along with the power adapter which is the culprit. I find it unacceptable that a computer should have a failure like this within the first few months of ownership when I've had an old HP laptop that is nearly 10 years old and has never given me any issues. I don't think I'll be buying another Acer product

Poorly designed junk

The display hinges have broken twice as well as the plastic casing on the display. The keyboard randomly stopped working and you can't just replace the keyboard. The entire upper shell of the lower half of the computer had to be replaced. Now its reading no bootable device and no suggestion online has fixed it. All seem to be common issues. Stay away from Acer products.

slower then my 10 yr old laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So this is my second Acer Nitro 5 in 3 days. My first one had slow boot times and my track pad would go crazy. I would be moving the courser and it would jump a solid inch across the screen. Also holding the courser still it would shake everywhere. so I returned it and got another one. Not only did I have the same track pad issue, This computer was the slowest thing i have ever used. I have recorded times of over 4 minutes for a boot up. The fastest boot i have had was 1 minute 30 sec. Add about another minute for applications to work. I am beyond frustrated and I am going to be returning this one and will not be purchasing another one. I am in the computer field, so yes i checked and reinstalled drivers, adjusted sensitivity for track pad, adjusted performance with CPU and it did nothing.

Poor product with no real support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this product today because I was looking for a laptop to use as a supplement to my desktop computer. It would be mainly used for mild gaming, browsing the internet, and streaming multimedia content. After less than 12 hours of owning this device, the built in camera was not working. Contacting Acer Support left me with nothing but a person reading from a script who advised I do a factory reset on the device to see if that would fix the issue. Restarting the laptop to attempt to fix the issue (the classic "Turn it off and back on again" fix) ended with me having a BSOD (Bad_System_Config_Info). Windows Automatic Repair attempted to run and I was then presented with "No Boot Device Found." I was able to get the BIOS to recognize that there was a boot device, and was able to boot into Windows. I have owned the device for less than 12 hours (7 hours and some change if we want to get more exact) and so I will be returning it tomorrow. If I'm having these types of issues in the first 12 hours of owning the device, with no major changes made to the system other than updating from base Windows 10 to the 1803 Update, I can only imagine what other problems I would have with the device moving forward.

Barely lasted

Always super slow to start, sometimes taking a full hour till I could use it correctly. Updates were always a problem. And now keys are coming off. Just not a great value for what I paid or how I use it. And not the only disappointing Acer product I've owned.

Cheap Brand - Poor Quality

I barely used it to play games because the battery ALWAYS NEEDED CHARGING. This is a CHEAPLY MADE ITEM. I would NEVER BUY ACER products and advise everyone to not buy it.

Garbage - Junk - Do not buy - you'll regret it

At most my kid has put about 10 hours of use on the weekends....what a crime. And the best part is, I get to pay for shipping it to the the repair center and not have use of a $800 unit for weeks - this is really great. Thanks for at least being courteous to your customer when you sell them complete trash and not paying for warranty shipping - good times.

Returned after a week

But after receiving it and powering it on, it was still a ripoff at $516. This computer boots so slow! So much bloatware, which I removed, but it still feels like they put a very cheap HDD in it. It felt even slower that my 5400 RPM HDD laptop I've had for years. Hung up on 100% disk usage after installing all OS updates and couldn't find a fix so I did a clean OS install. This fixed the 100% disk usage after I got all updates and drivers reinstalled but the computer was still just crawling along. Boot up times were in the minutes with random black screens. The display was also a disappointment as it has a very matted finish which doesn't take advantage of the IPS panel. Was super excited about the sale but very disappointed with the product. Will be the first and only time I buy an Acer.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am incredibly livid..this is the WORST computer...I bought this computer to use to work..I work from home and this computer had nice specs and was expensive. I bought the FIRST one at 4pm, tried installing my programs for work, and got a "black screen with cursor" issue. I tried all the necessary troubleshooting and it was then decided it to just exchange it for a new one...although my Best Buy didn't have it so I had to drive 45 minutes to the one with availability...I got the SECOND one by 9pm before they closed...downloaded my programs and GOT THE SAME ISSUE .. seriously..the worst computer...if my old $300 HP computer could handle games and handle my work programs, why can't this $720 computer handle anything????? This is messing with my money, my work and could cost me my job... Save yourself some money and DO NOT BUY THIS COMPUTER!!!!

Disappointed

It has been very slow and time consuming to deal with the issues. I'm hoping adding some memory might help. May work fine for typing a letter or two, but that's about it.

Not what I expected

I play the Sims 4 and League of Legends. I gave the Sims 4 a shot and it was laggy. I had nothing else running. Returned the computer within a day of having it.

Awful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it for black fri having nothing but issues it is extremely slow it can't multi task. I understand it's not the top of the line but I've never had a computer this slow in my life. Do yourself a favor stay away from this. Was playing destiny 2 in about 20 mins the computer was having a melt down. My 1st experience with a nvidia and an Acer and most likely my last unless best buy can do something about this otherwise I bought a very expensive paper weight. Couldn't even handle opening up internet edge and download steam.
