I purchased two of these laptops for my boys. My oldest is taking engineering classes at school and my youngest does online gaming. These are perfect! They work so well and we have had zero problems with them.

Laptop works fine. Gets a little hot. The only complaint was that there wasn't a clear description of how to redeem my fortnite code that came with the purchase.

This computer is considered a gaming computer, but I am not into playing games on a PC. But, this is a very good Computer for everything else. Screen, Graphics card for watching TV, memory, drive size. Great. This replaced my Apple computer, and I don't miss it at all.

This is a good performing mid-level gaming laptop that can handle most recent games on middle or better, but it can run really hot. The screen color is somewhat muted and is more yellow. The speaker, while loud, doesn’t produce the most detailed sounds. The keyboard is quiet and comfortable to type with, but may not meet the demands for intense twitch shooters. The trackpad is super mushy and doesn’t have a great tactile click. The overall build quality is good, but definitely is a budget build. The battery life is not great, lasting a mere hour while gaming. It may not be the best, but still a good performer for the price if you can overlook the short battery life and screen accuracy.
Pro:
Speaker is lound
Keyboard is comfortable
Ports: 1 usb 3, 2 usb 2, 1 usb type c, HDMI, card reader, and ethernet port.
Easy access to hard drive and ram for upgrading.
Con:
Color not accurate, more yellow
Runs hot if gaming on high settings
Trackpad is mushy
Bulky
Battery life: 5 hours for non gaming, 1 hour gaming.
Build quality:
The entire body is plastic with the back cover having a brushed metal look. Oily fingerprints are unavoidable. It may not have as an aggressive gamer design as other laptops, but it still is a little bulky especially with the angled designs. There’s about a one inch bezel around the screen and the back has some flex. Overall it’s pretty solid.
The keyboard only has a red backlight. The keys are quiet and are comfortable to type with. The keys register well enough, but it may not be that good for intense shooters. The arrow keys also bleeds into the numpad so I sometimes hit the wrong key. The trackpad is very mushy. It needs to be press quite deep and there’s a lot of resistance. Only suitable for basic navigation.
Performance:
Not bad. It can easily handle most recent games on middle and even high settings on a lot of games while maintaining at least 30-45 fps. The cooling is the issue as it does often run hot when gaming on a higher setting. On high settings, even with the Cool Boost on, it can heat up to 90c while keeping it on medium will average out around 60c. The fan noise is for the most part good. It’s not quiet but not noticeably loud until it gets in the 80’s.
The screen color is not that accurate, but manageable. It’s warmer and has a yellow tint and the overall colors are more faded. I thought the viewing angle would be a bit better for an IPS panel. The color starts to shift at around 30 degree.
The speaker can get really loud but the sound quality is lacking. Not terrible for on board speakers but as long as you don’t expect high fidelity, you should be good.
Battery life is not that good. Even when only doing light tasks with the GPU not active, it only lasted 5 hours at most. You might be able to squeeze another hour if you lower the settings. While gaming, it lasted an hour which isn’t too surprising, but other similar laptops last a bit longer.

The Acer Nitro is a really beautiful PC inside and out. It is not a top of the line gaming PC, for that you would pay at least 5 times as much. However for many of us, it is a very capable gaming machine and a powerful PC worth every penny. The specs are great, 8th generation core-i5 and super wireless plus a 7200 rpm 1TB drive. It also has some useful software such as Acer Nitrosense to set your performance and fan speeds etc. You also get Acer Care Center which I thought was very well designed to help you handle recovery management, updates and other tune-up options – very useful especially to create an ISO image for your recovery if needed.
I wanted to comment on the gaming capabilities so I did a comparison against an older core-i5 machine without the powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics that is packed in this very reasonably priced PC. Using the Unigine Heaven Benchmark software I did a quick look at the overall score and FPS numbers, (there are dozens of stats you could determine and many settings; but this is a simpler comparison). This Acer beat the pretty nice (and more expensive) AIO I had by about 35% better average FPS. However what’s better is that I cloned the HDD with a 1TB SSD, popped that into the Acer Nitro and got more than 50% better FPS at 57 FPS and a max FPS of 112. Sometimes gamers want 60 FPS so this machine with an SSD filled the bill. By the way, it is very easy to remove 1 screw underneath to get to the HDD, from there it’s simple to replace with the cloned SSD. Some PC’s require the spudgie type tools to peel off the keyboard to get to the disk drive but this is nicely designed so you can get easily to the drive and memory as well. I use EASEUS TODO which is free to clone the drive and this software works great.
I should mention I did not overclock the PC, I would not recommend that for this quad core (8 way processor). But you could do it and use the Coolsense to drive the fans at max speed (there are two fans). Better to step up your gaming PC machine since this is not a processor designed to handle being overclocked as I understand.
Finally, if you want to use this PC for regular word processing and other non-gaming tasks it is fabulous, especially if you upgrade to the SSD, although the 7200 rpm drive worked fast as well. It is super quick to bring up Word or Excel etc.; which is expected since as mentioned if you look at your Device Manager you'll see eight processors chugging away at 2.3 GHz. The screen is beautiful with IPS and full HD. Also backlit keyboards are so nice to have on planes etc. and this has the backlit keyboard as well – a sharp looking and performing PC.
I would highly recommend this beast for the average-guy-gaming and for anyone wanting a very nice price-performance payback. Acer folks got it right I think with the hardware working together to make this a great PC and a great PC value for your money.

They call this a budget laptop and it's not bad. When I got this it was on sale for $599.99 not bad. It was better then the laptops that were a little cheaper and the one's a little higher in price. First this will do just about any task. All the benchmarks I've seen has this 8th Gen. Intel i5 beating the 7th Gen Intel i7. This has the turbo boost, so it has 2.3 GHz, but it can go up to 4.0 GHz when the job at hand needs it to. The mouse pad does feel a little flimsy, so watch out for that. The USB port are really tough to disconnect from. This laptop works for me. So far this laptop gets the job done.

This is a big upgrade for me. My last laptop was over 10 years old. Even though I have the same video card in my home desktop (NVIDIA 1050ti in my desktop). The graphics are much sharper on this laptop. Great buy since it was on sale for just under $600.

Purchased this laptop to accommodate my husbands training and normal pc use. It meets both needs very well. It is a tad on the heavy side, but normally gamers don’t tote their laptop from one location to the other.

I've had this laptop for about a month now. It runs nice and quick and does everything I want it to - I'm a web developer and also dabble in a good amount of games, and haven't had issues. Some drawbacks to this thing are the plastic body and the keyboard. It scratches REALLY easily, and smudges are ever-present. The keyboard also took some time to really feel "right..." the keys would get stuck a little bit; they seem like maybe they were a bit too big or something strange like that. The speakers are -very- quiet, so you'll need to be rocking the earbuds or external speakers.

I bought this laptop because of the price and the fact that you can add another stick of ram and it also has a spot open to add a ssd. Makes it easier to build as you need the upgrades instead of spending 1500$ or more for the same end product.
