I love this computer. I got it on a flash sale so it was 599 + sales tax. It didn't seem like I was going to find similar specs at that price point anywhere else. A lot of reviews I watched and read were when the computer first came out and the price was much higher. Even at 699 I think this is a great value. I am not a hard core gamer at all, but i do dabble with some things that need a better graphics card than what comes in a regular computer/lap top. This one seemed perfect. It does have a matte screen which is nice, and it seems bright enough. I think I'm used to super bright saturated monitors which aren't necessarily the best, but since it's what I am accustomed to it's what I think everything should be so I think I'm biased there. I think the heat/cooling will be fine for the way I run it. I don't mind the keyboard. It's a little soft, but it's very quiet. It took a while to set up (just the computer getting itself up to date) but that was to be expected. I'm very happy with it and I hope it lasts a few years! It is heavy though- almost 6 lbs i think, and the power brick is quite large and heavy too. I'm using mine at home for the most part so I don't mind that. I really don't like that it collects my finger prints though.

Works great for some basic gaming, my wife plays Sims on it constantly and never fails and doesn't lag at all. My big issue is right out of the box the speakers are terrible and constantly crack. Even with the volume low. So plan on purchasing some nice headphones or external speakers.

Specs: The ram is single channel mode, ie 1 stick, which allows you to easily add another stick of DDR4. The hard drive is a pcie x4 lane that clocks in at about 1650mb/sec at the high end. The monitor is an IPS backlit, ie good viewing angles with solid brightness at about 260 nits. The GPU is easily undervolted from 1075mv to 975mv which allows the boost clock to sustain 1911 mhz boost with 4304mhz memory clocks using afterburner. Ie 7000 Firestrike score and 2000 Unigine Heaven score on basic settings. The CPU could also be undervolted by -120mv for even cooler temps on the joint cooling system. Under stress loads the GPU never topped 75c the CPU under Prime 95 was 86c under a heat torture test. Fans ramp up by temp under load...but were surprisingly muted even when pushed. Have never seen or found better specs even near this price. Only drawbacks is don't expect to game long on the battery...about 90m if the system is pushed...about 4 to 5 hours with basic browsing and streaming loads with battery power settings. Also not everyone will like the trackpad style. However at this pricepoint you can't nit pick as the performance and options with little to no bloatware is impressive.

I am new to PC gaming and wanted an entry level gaming laptop that I could use for games as well as some light video editing. I purchased this laptop as it fit my budget and met the requirements for what I was looking to use it for. However, three weeks after owning it I was about 30 minutes into a video on YouTube when the screen froze and then the laptop shut itself off. I attempted to restart it and although the lights that illuminate the keyboard came on the screen did not. I packed it up and headed to Best Buy. After a quick inspection the tech informed me that the screen had failed. This was quite disappointing as I had only used the laptop for three weeks. Best Buy offered an exchange and I accepted. I am hoping that it was an isolated issue as I exchanged the laptop for the same one with the hopes that this one will outlast the other one. As far as performance, other than the issue addressed, this seems to be like a solid entry level gaming laptop for the price. I can't say that I had any other issues with it while it worked. Then again, I only had it for three weeks. It seems to work really well with video editing software and so far I've only had the chance to install and play Killing Floor 2 on it. I am fairly pleased with it and I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I wasn't expecting a whole lot from this computer based on the price. Its not the blow other laptops out of the water laptop. But it plays the games I want to play at high settings with no problem. The keyboard is responsive. I don't use the trackpad, instead I use a trackball, so I can't comment on that. Overall I love this computer.

Great at the price point, it is a hard price to beat when it is priced at 650$.It offers a good amount of storage for day to day use but seems to require additional memory for gaming seeing as how large files tend to be.

    Runs Epic Fortnite Setting!!!!!!

This gaming laptop is packed with a GeForce Gtx 1050 Ti and a 256 SSD and a cooling system. This is a really good priced laptop especially since it has a 1050 ti gpu which will smoothly run fortnite on epic setting. Although you will need to give it 1 or 2 hours for it to reach it's full potential or at least so it's not laggy which is totally normal for laptops at least the ones I have experienced. The 256 SSD will download the launcher and install fortnite a lot faster (approximately 45 min) and the cooling system will prevent overheating especially when you overclock your GHz. The only thing is that it sais "Headphone/microphone combo jack" but I didn't receive any headphone/microphone.

    4.5 Stars, Fantastic Purchase

The first thing I did was install an extra 8 GB stick of DDR4 RAM, which I advise for better multitasking. It's not the RAM or graphics card that limits this laptop's potential, it's the processor. Overall though a blazing fast entry-level gaming/all purpose computer thanks to the SSD. The ONLY complaint I have is the battery. Acer says 8.5 hours on their website, which is a major lie. I got about an hour when multitasking and 2 hours when just browsing, yeah...it sucks. Which kind of blows because this is my college laptop and I thought it would be better. And the power brick is literally a brick.

It's a decent laptop. It runs the games that I play fine. Major issue though is how loud and hot it gets. 10 minutes into playing Skyrim on Medium settings and it sounds like a jet is taking flight in my room. Not to mention the heat that comes out the back exhaust. But it runs WoW on 5, which isn't bad at all, but after about 30-40 minutes of playing those fans kick into overdrive. It's not a bad laptop, I just wish I wasn't so demanding with the type of games I wanna play. Going to be buying a full desktop soon.

just got my laptop. charged it for 8 hours. the battery was still dead. would only turn on when connected to the power supply. did a battery check and it showed up, battery degraded due to long term use. got ahold of geek squad and he said that message is usually due to BEING SOLD A ON DISPLAY MODEL. THAT WAS RUNNING NON-STOP. so if that is true nowhere does best buy ever mention the laptop you are spending $700 on is a laptop that has already been used a lot. so much, that the battery will not even charge. something that costs $700, you would assume it would be brand new when you buy it, or at least figure they would tell you if it was an on display model. SO BEWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE BUYING!!

It's a great starter laptop for every wannabe streamer or gamer. Blazing fast, quick to render videos, and has a cool design. The battery life could be better but if you're a casual gamer or video editor, it'll more than suffice.

GREAT LAPTOP OVERALL. Great screen for price. Great color and contrast. does not look washed out like other gaming laptop screens. Very fast SSD built in. Very easy to add an extra HDD. Great battery life. Over twice what I've seen for gaming laptops in the same price range. 8 hours if all settings are reduced. About 2 hours playing a mid-range game. Great for the price.

The price seemed too good to be true, and it was. On charge, the thing was fine, and I could run a lot of games at nice settings, but the moment I would take it off charging, even if I was using it for typing or so, it would only have 15 minutes of so until it shut off. Acer is nice and all, but i wouldn't recommend their gaming laptops.

This thing checked all of the spec boxes, but feels like a step back from my 6 year old laptop in terms of usefulness. Don't know if it's Windows 10 or what, but for instance, opening the lid doesn't wake it up. You have to press the power button. After a couple days, it won't wake up at all, even after pressing the button. Don't need this sort of grief so it's going back. I've tried a few latest gen laptops and they all seem pretty weak in the wake up realm.

Blue Screen of Death after 5 minutes

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this as a gift, and luckily I decided to have it setup and ready to go. It was on maybe 5 minutes and I received the Blue Screen, rebooted and got the Error message "NO bootable device found", restarted again, and it worked for another 5-10 minutes and received the Blue Screen again. GOING BACK, I would have been pretty embarrassed to give this as a gift!!!
