Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Nitro 5's performance, especially its speed and gaming capabilities, and many find it offers good value for the price. However, customers are negative about the battery life and some report issues with fan noise and heat generation during intensive use. The relatively small storage capacity is another common concern. While some appreciate the keyboard, others find the laptop to be somewhat heavy.

Bought this laptop during my junior year of high school due to Covid and classes being online. It served me very well throughout high school, performing well for scholarly tasks and everyday browsing. So much so that when my dad offered to buy me a new one for college, I told him it would not be necessary, since the laptop support upgrades to the ram and storage which is what I did, and it runs my all the heavy programs for my personal use such and performance demanding games like call of duty, and engineering programs like fusion360 and Vivado; even out performing MacBooks released that same year. This laptop has served me very well even to this day despite being a laptop released in 2018 or 2019 if I’m not mistaken. Worth every penny and I will continue to use it until it can no longer be used. If you read all this, God bless.

First gaming pc so I wanted something not too expensive. This hit the nail on the head, A few of the games I've played so far: dragon ball z kakarot, far cry new dawn, Sims 4, skyrim special edition, the witcher 3. Halo 1 & 2 remastered, No man's sky, and a few others. All those games I could max when pushed into high performance mode, except witcher 3. A few I could max no problem, some, I had to tinker with the graphics options. I have a targus cooling pad for it and Temps stay around 50c-60c. I can push the performance and it'll hit 92 on the cpu, but I'd rather not. Gpu never tops 70c. I also haven't added any additional storage yet, it's all still stock. Some ram will probably make a difference The speakers are amazing I'll give them that. It's pretty surround when the volume is up, but I like headphones anyway. Plugged a ps4 controller into it with USB and it instantly recognized the controller. I went and got a separate red ps4 controller to accent the keyboard. It's unfortunate you can't change the duration of the back light on the keyboard without a download of software tho. Other than this thing exceeded my expectations. Doesn't get hot. It's quiet. The Webcam isn't too bad but not the greatest. Battery life is good for surfing the web but don't game without being plugged in.

I bought this laptop with the mission of working on heavy music tracks, art and video. So think Surface Pro meets Protools HD With a touch of hardcore APPLE.. to the laymen to sum it up I needed an industry standard work horse portable as can be. THIS MAKES NO SENSE DOES IT ? The initial out the box would not last at all for what I needed to do. Why did I get it, I mean it works great if you have light work and light gaming too no problem at all but you are going to run out of room. Do not purchase this if you don't plan on utilizing that beautiful way this machine lays out the ability to expand and upgrade to give the maximum stability without high price. Sure you can buy it topped out but the satisfaction of customizing it to your need is priceless. WHAT SHE LOOKS LIKE NOW I was able to take the DDR4 up to 32 GB and the SSD I added an additional 1TB SSD internal drive and plan on replacing the 256 internal SSD to a larger one soon. AND IT RUNS beautifully I run High-end graphics and massive sound libraries that require high speed and processor. With the ability to record without latency All with additional hardware that shook hands beautifully. Oh did I add that I use my apple iPad pro with it as well as control service and through windows ten and a beautiful piece of software they see each other without issue. I go down without a crack, when the SSD is used and that is that. I also paired a dongle that carries my external 1tb hard drive and runs all my peripherals without hesitation and shows no restraint. What I ask it does almost before I get to it ( wishful thinking but I swear I feel like I'm in a star command fleet) NERD ALERT!! IT's a good buy and you need to make the investment if you want to see it bloom to its fullest potential. There's nothing like a little bit of elbow grease that would make you feel like a better owner of this great product. It is a tailor fit laptop if that's what you want and you are willing to do the extra go for it without regrets. When you buy it, it's good when you upgrade its outstanding!

Yooooo when I tell you this computer has saved BUTT, I was in dire need for a gaming laptop as my old one was at its deathbed, I saw this laptop saved up for it and bought it. It has been about 3 years since I last bought this laptop and its still working out for me, I actually have recommended this laptop for friends as I use it for school and work as well, and used to know someone who owned this laptop too. Highly recommend.

Found this exact model on Amazon for 50$ cheaper but it had a 144hz screen. But all in all this product hasn’t given me any problems I’ve added 8gs of ram and 1Tb of ssd to it and this laptop runs so smoothly I haven’t had any game problems besides the fact I already need more space perfect little gaming laptop for the right price in my opinion.

The laptop runs well. It does overheat quite often which makes the built in fan very handy. The battery does not last while gaming so I recommend keeping it plugged in to avoid interruptions.

[I'm not tech experienced or knowledgeable, so this review is mostly for people like me who just want an upgrade from their average laptop they use for games] WHY I BOUGHT IT: I recently bought this laptop since it was a very low price for a powerful machine. It can handle a wide range of graphically intense games from Halo, League of Legends, Minecraft, most games on Steam, battle royales, you name it. My old Dell computer wasn't built for intense gaming as it only had 20-50 frames per sec whenever I played games like LOL and could barely run FPS shooters as it would severely lag or no game would be playable at all. Sounds like yours? YOU'LL NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE: If you're currently playing on a laptop not specified for gaming, then you'll definitely feel how much more smoother and clearer it feels to play on this bad boy. Average fps when on MMORPGS is about 120-200, FPS games are usually 100-150. You'll be able to set your graphic settings pretty high. FEATURES: - YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR FAN SPEED to cool down your laptop! - Red back-lit keyboard (can't change colors) - 3 USB ports, 1 AUDIO jack - Numeric keypad - Fans on left, right, and back sides COMMUNICATION (talk with your friends through, Skype, Discord, teamspeak, etc...): *PLEASE BUY USB HEADSETS/ADAPTERS/ WIRELESS HEADPHONES* - The audio jack is ONLY for HEADPHONES/EARPHONES, not HEADSETS. If you try to use your mic on your headset, it will ONLY use its built in mic instead and WILL NOT detect your own mic. I recommend: https://www.amazon.com/CM7000-Surround-Headphones-Canceling-Nintendo/dp/B07W22F9G3 It's cheap a price, easy to use, has 7.1 surround sound, AND it matches your the laptop's red and black color theme! GB ISSUES: Only issue is 8GB of memory, BUT you're able to upgrade it to 16 or more GB which is unique compared to other pricier gaming laptops. You'll just have to search up how to. 8GB of memory can last you about 3 months depending on what kind of games you get. I currently have 21 games downloaded and still got extra room.

Purchased for my daughter's first year of college out of state. She wanted something good for school, online work (covid) and steam games she hasn't been able to play with her five year old HP. It does it all. Does get a bit warm playing higher end games but we are thinking of buying a cooling pad if needed. She says it weighs the same as the HP she's been carrying around to school all through high school, so it wasn't an issue for her. First one purchased wouldn't start up...second one seemed the same, but the we pushed in the power plug really tightly into the computer port and all was great!!! So, push it in hard! Best buy great about exchanging out with first issue. Even shipped to our house in one day for free. Good price too. Recommended by a friend who does IT for a living.

Bought this to replace a decade old laptop and am very happy with what I got for the price I paid. I knew going in that this was a budget gaming laptop and what that would mean for performance. Pros: -price point/value -battery is replaceable -you can upgrade memory and storage: there are 2 slots for SODIMM RAM. the laptop comes with one 8GB card and the second slot is empty. the there is one 256GB SSD with space for a second M.2 SATA SSD and a 2.5in SATA internal drive meaning a total of 3 internal storage drives. cons -the screen isn't very bright, which isn't a huge issue but something many reviewers found noticeable -bloatware: the wireless adapter comes with an application that is meant to manage connections but is not really necessary or wanted, and it's a process to remove it. Acer has also installed their own apps that are vague in their description and also often filling a need nobody had. other thoughts -the battery can last a while with light use, but not as long when playing games, which seems obvious but just feel like should be mentioned when discussing battery life -the laptop comes with nitrosense which will allow you to track your internal temps, and control fan speeds -unlike earlier versions of this laptop which had both fans next to each other on one side, this has one on each side. Another change is that earlier versions had easy access panels for upgrading RAM and storage, but on this the entire bottom needs to be removed. Not a big deal, but just a heads up. Overall, I was looking for a cheaper laptop that I could have for daily use that would play newer titles, even if I'm playing them on slightly lower graphic settings. I'm very happy with what I've got and would recommend this to people with similar needs.

This computer is great for the price. It can play games adequately, at fairly high settings. It runs very well, and the startup is quick. If you do not like the backlit keyboard, you can adjust the lights to stay on or off. The laptop is fairly light and portable. I can fit it nicely into a average sized backpack. My only gripe with the computer is the battery life, while simply browsing the internet can yield around three hours on a single charge, I would recommend using the charging cable while gaming. While under stress the laptop tends to get somewhat hot, what laptop doesn't at this price, but the keyboard does not get very hot and it remains usable. The top of the computer does seem to get easily scratched, but that does not really bother me, as I did not get this computer for the aesthetics. The computer screen is bright and is viewable from a variety of angles. It is a 1080p LED display, I believe is can project an onto a 4k tv in 4k, but I have not tested it out, and cannot confirm this. Overall, I enjoy this computer. It is adequate my needs. I would recommend this laptop to people searching for a budget laptop on which they can also play video games.

    Laptop vs cats

So this laptop is amazingly well designed. First off, I’ve had it for 3 years now and it still runs all my games beautifully. But the big thing is this laptop is built with cat owners in mind. My orange monster of a cat ha knocked over a full 40oz stanely cup of water overnight next to my laptop SEVERAL times now. I wake up and my laptop is sitting in about an inch of water, and every time the computer still works and runs fine. Its slightly raised so it has room for the fans to go, and the slits under the computer are for the fans do it keeps the motherboard and everything up a solid gap of space. TLDR: If you have menace of a cat who spills water next to this laptop, it’ll still work perfectly.

Honestly, this is the best laptop I've ever had and I've been a Dell laptop owner/user for over 10 years. As a gamer and a college student, this laptop has me looking to my future with Acer and never looking back. Amazing speed, wonderful storage, clear display and the keyboard is awesome. Battery is a little less powerful than I'd like, but otherwise it is an amazing laptop and I would recommend to anyone.

I got this laptop while it was on sale for 580$ and is definitely worth buying while it's on sale. if you add another 8gb ram then this laptop will be much faster. Gaming wise I was able to run most games above 60 fps on high settings. With 8gb ram I was able to get 130fps on valorant while on medium settings, fortnite I would get 120+ fps on competitive settings, gta v 80 fps on high settings, and rocket league 250 fps high settings. With 16gb ram all I can say is in most of these games you will see a huge difference.

Got the laptop for my 8 year old daughter; she loves it and performance is great for the games she plays (mainly Lego Worlds and Minecraft). Screen is very nice, keys feel nice, and the chassis feels like it will last a good while; nice quality. Temperatures during gaming seem pretty decent and the airflow comes in the sides and out the back (I wish more makers would do it this way).
