Don't waste your money

Great idea but poorly executed

But when my wife needed a laptop and I decided Acer would be the way to go I was very disappointed. The PC would work great for about 2 hours then would randomly reboot every time you opened a program. Thought it was a defective unit so I returned and got another. Exact same issue. Ended up returning it and going with another brand which has worked flawlessly. Want to give serious high five to Best Buy and their return/support team was super easy and 0 stress with this less then expected product.

Do impulse buy

You can get much much better from even different laptops on BestBuys website. Or in my opinion go to something like cyber pc and just build your own for way cheaper. I returned this like 5 days later.

We had to wait while they went and got it. Irritating! we were told it would be there and it was'nt.

Defective RAM

Kudos to the Geek Squad for diagnosing the problem with the laptop. It appears to be a defective RAM. We will see how it turns out after we use it during our church service. Stay tuned.

Looking good, but lacks good function.

I sent it to Acer to help fix it, and they spent 3 weeks fixing it. All it needed was an update, and I lost a month without the computer.

Bad quality, terrible lifetime, disappointed

This laptop constantly experiences random crashes as well. I could not be more disappointed. The fans are garbage and the reason why I am replacing this computer is because the sound quit working and the fans degraded. Don’t believe the “VR ready”, it can’t even handle smooth gameplay and you cannot use it with the RIFT S like advertised. Buy a Dell

I liked the price

Not worth the money

Acer- Nitro 5 15.6" Laptop

I thought about buying a Chromebook for my kid's virtual learning but decided to pony up more money and buy the Nitro 5. My mistake, I'm pretty tech savvy but could not get the audio and mic to work consistently. Every morning was the same thing, re-install audio drivers and mic. Audio and mic are essential for virtual learning. It's becoming an unnecessary hassle. I'm returning the laptop.

Should be cheaper in price

Power supply Failure

For the thirty minutes my daughter used it, everything looked great. Thanks to Best Buy providing great customer service after Christmas Day, my daughter was able to enjoy a new upgraded version and it’s been working ever since. HTH.

A rare gem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After having used HP for years and not really feeling it with a fancy MacBook pro, I decided I was ready for a change, so I did my research and got this Acer at a very convenient price. I have used this sturdy beauty for 6 months, and the experience has been incredibly rewarding. It takes only a few seconds to start, and the battery lasts for 6-9 hrs. I use pretty big Excel spreadsheets on a daily basis, with macros and all that, and its 8 RAM memory responds smoothly as you can expect...the last generation i5 processor kills, so forget about lags. I do play quite demanding games, such as Starcraft 2 and Planetside 2, and it works perfectly all the time, even at the highest resolution configurations, thanks to the Nvidia Geforce GTX, No noises nor too much extra heat, just a bit. And it`s beautiful. Therefore, I sincerely recommend this laptop, it`s a gem.

Bad Keyboard

Keys starting break about a month after I got the laptop. By 6 months into my purchase 3 keys had broken from casual use. Don't bother to try to contact ACER. Their warranty was no help at all. Send them your laptop and a month later they'll charge you an arm and a leg to fix it. They were not helpful. When I contacted Geek Squad with BestBuy they said they wouldn't fix it. Steer clear of this laptop unless you plan on using a USB keyboard.

terrible keyboard and touchpad

Do not buy if you need Wifi

It worked fine for about a week, but just a few days ago, the WiFi stopped working correctly. It was still connected to the access point, but no internet access. I did some troubleshooting, and I was able to get back online after a restart...for about three minutes. Apparently this is a problem affecting these machines, even from last year. But there still isn’t a fix. So now I’m in my temporary lodging, without my belongings (because they’re being shipped), and my laptop can’t connect to the internet. Since I’m on quarantine, I can’t go to the store and buy a Ethernet cable....I’m assuming this will fix it, but if you’re planning on buying this for use in a room that’s not convenient to use a cable, I would probably recommend you buy a different laptop
