The laptop is a really great laptop, I really enjoy it. I have a few issues that I just can't figure out and the acer customer support is very cumbersome to get in touch with someone. 1st issue is that the lightning 4 port doesnt work, only as a regular USB C. Even when i use it as a regular USB C it keeps throwing errors. 2nd issue is that the computer will be going great and just shut down with no explanation and no warning, not even the bsd. 3rd, when you put the computer to sleep, (closing the lid) it will go to sleep and not wake up, the only way i could solve this was to switch to hibernate instead of sleep. 4th, the startup sound, while cool the first time it started up, is obnoxious and annoying. You can turn it off, but every time my computer restarts randomly the bios gets reset and I get the sound back. It hits with no warning and if I'm somewhere that I would usually mute my laptop its extremely annoying, i wish i could remove the soundbyte from the bios.

Item kinda sucks. Gets hot really fast when playing Eldens ring. Turbo mode sounds like an Air plane taking off and cannot play with that loud of noise. For the price its worth you're better off getting a custom desktop. Overall, gets 2star because the Keyboard is pretty Awsome. I also purchased an air cooling fan to reduce the heat just Fyi for anyone looking to use this as a gaming labtop.

Gaming on the go - WHOOOOOOSH

Low profile gaming laptop that doesn’t scream GAMER unless you want it to, and only on start up. The most annoying thing about the laptop is loud gamer sound on startup that I need to change in the BIOS. No one wants to hear a loud WOOOOSH in the middle of the night. The laptop is packed with all of the specs a gamer wants,1TB SSD, 3070Ti, 240Hz refresh rate, RGB keyboard, 16GB DDR5 RAM, and an i7 processor. All of this makes the laptop capable of overkilling most games out there. Now on to the number of ports: there is 1 UCB-C, 3 regular USB ports, headphone jack, ethernet, HDMI, and mini-DP. As far as performance goes, the Helios handled everything well. Monster Hunter, Cyberpunk, F1 racing, DOOM. It’s the nature of the gaming world, this is a top of the line gaming laptop and is capable of running everything on the market. Give it a few years and it’ll be able to run most things at medium settings which I am more than ok with. As with all gaming laptops this does get hot while gaming and it could get uncomfortable if left in your lap, so just be cognizant of that. I expect to see 2 to 3 hours of battery life, a large power brick, and excessive heat from gaming laptops. It is when a gaming laptop doesn’t obnoxiously yell at everyone with the aesthetics that it’s a gaming laptop but gives you the option via RGB to do so that I begin to get interested. Lastly, the Helios doesn’t weigh as much as a lead brick, which also is welcomed for a gaming laptop. All in all, the specs and aesthetics are there and I just need to remedy the WHOOOOSH sound at start up.

Brand new out the box and it wont power on at all. I’ve tried everything to get it to work but it seems like it might be a defect with the power button or motherboard. It shows that its charging but I cant get it to boot up or anything. I tried giving Acer a chance despite some bad reviews but they failed. Time to return it and get something that can actually power on out the box. I never leave reviews for anything i buy but i had to for this. I thought hey its on sale for $1399 not bad at all for the specs. I couldnt be more wrong.

I would give a zero if i could. Worked for 48 hours. Now wont boot. Support? What a joke. Chatted with a guy for 2 minutes then he sent me to "professional support" which required me to put im my CC although i was guaranteed there would be no charge. What kinda scammy company does that. Do not buy from Acer or you are rolling the dice on not having an issue with your device. Returning tomorrow. Brent

This laptop is an absolute piece of garbage. After 11 months of issues with CPU and GPU throttling with no discernable cause, the CPU fan bearing breaks and is no longer usable. Self repairs are near impossible due to the lack of available replacement parts, and quotes for a fix are worth almost as much as the laptop. I was a moron for spending 1800 dollars on a gaming laptop. Don't repeat my mistake by buying this. You deserve better.

Acer - Predator Helios 300 - 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop Acer is known for building budget PC’s but for this model they are going more head to head against their competitors. The hardware specs are pretty high with a 15.6 QHD display, Intel Core i7 – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti - 16GB DDR5 – 1TB SSD (Which is very fast) and WiFi 6E, Full size per-key miniLED RGB backlit keyboard with NumPad, bottom-firing 2x stereo speakers, HD webcam, but has no biometrics or touch screen. There is a pair of USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports with another on the left along with an Ethernet jack, a headset jack and a Kensington lock slot. A Thunderbolt 4 port, HDMI 2.1, a Mini DisplayPort and the power input. It is more of a lugable rather than a laptop with a weight of 6.75 lbs and a powerbrick that is almost 3 lbs and is huge. The keyboard has a nice setup but the keys are somewhat mushy and the key caps are shallow. The bottom lip is a bit uncomfortable on your wrists in my opinion. The lighting under the lip is more of a gimmick than useful. Its position and lighting do not make it useful to say light up some notes in a dark room environment. The touch pad is decent but for gaming it gets in the way and I turn it off and use an external mouse. For other than gaming use the keypad is high end. I would have preferred a touch screen because it just makes sense in a laptop or other than gaming use. The lid is partially brush aluminum and is a fingerprint magnet. The overall build is rugged with a bunch of incorporated metal making for a ridged chassis. The web cam has poor skin tones and the exposure is off. The resolution is fine and mike is very good. The speakers on the bottom of the laptop is kind of meh. The QHD Screen is very good and vibrant with a high refresh rate and clean though the NIT of 312 makes it on the dim side so brightness could use improvement. Upgrade ability is easy and provides max supported memory of 32GB and two M.2 SSDs. The battery power is about 7hrs on normal use but about 1hr on turbo / extreme. You will be wanting to use this plugged in for most high performance gaming. You only have to find the space for that hugh power brick. Now the bad part is that when in high performance / turbo mode though the machine keeps the temps in rage BUT the fans sound like white noise on steroids. Even with a good headset on this thing is disturbingly noisy. At least it isn’t the high pitch whine of a power tool. You have to decide if this will work for you. The keyboard, weight and noise under performance load – which is my gaming sweet spot make this a no go for me.

While this laptop has some nice features such as 240hz refresh rate screen, it has g-sync and so forth, with roughly 2k is not bad. However, it’s wifi sucks. Every one or two days, you’ll have to uninstall and reinstall its wifi drivers the wifi will just disappear like it doesn’t exist. Once I was having a video conference and it stopped in the middle of the meeting. I had to do the above process and reboot the laptop. Later I checked some reviews and found out that this model had this problem even in the past years. This is pain in the neck and I am going to return this.
