    High-value engineering/gaming laptop

I bought the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S mainly to use for my engineering courses, and overall, it has been a really solid choice. The laptop is very fast, which is important when running programs like CAD software, simulations, or doing multiple tasks at once. With the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, RTX 5070 Ti, and 32GB of RAM, it handles everything smoothly without lag. One thing I really like is that it’s thin and light compared to other gaming laptops. This makes it easier to carry around campus, especially when going from class to class. The 16-inch OLED screen also looks really good. The colors are bright, and the 240Hz refresh rate makes everything look smooth, whether I’m working or taking a break to play games. Another big advantage is the value. I was able to get it at a discounted price, so for the specs it offers, it's “bang for the buck.” The shipping was also quick and hassle-free, which made the experience even better. The only downside I’ve noticed is the battery life. It drains pretty fast, especially when running heavy programs or gaming, so I usually have to bring my charger with me. Overall, this laptop is a great option for an engineering student who needs a powerful and portable device. It performs well, looks great, and offers strong value, but just be prepared for shorter battery life.

Solid laptop, no issues whatsoever and handles everything I throw at it. Screen is beautiful. Only thing that could have been better is the speakers, definitely recommend headphones instead.

I'm absolutely blown away by this laptop! The performance is insane, and the graphics are stunning. I've played some of the most demanding games on the market, and this laptop handles them with ease. The display is gorgeous, and the keyboard is comfortable to type on. The battery life is better than expected, and the design is sleek and portable. I've had zero issues with overheating or lag. This laptop is a beast! Highly recommend to any serious gamer out there. *Pros:* - Exceptional performance - Stunning display - Comfortable keyboard - Good battery life - Sleek design *Would I buy again?* Absolutely!

Love that sleek and understated look that just look and feels premium. It's thin and packs a HX processor, which was a surprise considering the thickness. The thermals is amazing. (This is my second gaming notebook that I've bought this year for me and my kid, and it is far better than the one that cost over $1k more of the same GPU/CPU, and significantly thicker in March with pre-order). I'm also glad that I didn't see earlier reviews, otherwise, I would've bought at the full MSRP, which is a great value at MSRP especially compare to its nearest comp. Yes, it would be a steal at full MSRP. My complaint is that my nearest Best Buy was out of stock earlier this year when I was ready to buy. The display is incredibly vivid, with ultra high color gamut, and 240Hz matches perfectly with the RTX5070Ti GPU. Even on the smaller things in life like Thunderbolt and Type C, I really appreciate that Acer enabled one of the Type C with direct dGPU connection. My other gaming notebook from Best Buy had both connected to iGPU (hated it). I do play mostly on external displays, and appreciate the dGPU Type C and Power is on the back, and makes the cable management clean. The built quality is great, but what really made me happy was that I got far far far more performance than other thin chassis that cost much more. My only regret was that I wish Best Buy would've had this unit much earlier. Could've saved me a few thousand dollars from my first RTX5070Ti that I bought before reviews existed (different brand). Battery life, yes, it is a gaming notebook, and I have no issues with it. Overall, this is the best gaming notebook that I had purchased and love the performance, display, and quality of this product.

Bought this because they had it on sale for $1599, so I figured it was a good time to get something portable. Got it and realized Acer really sucks and configuring their BIOS to you know make sure that their product doesn't overheat. Had to do some digging on the forums because I knew Acer was going to be trash at helping and while part of the time GeekSquad isn't bad their track record of ripping open small tech and assembling it back together correctly really isn't their strong suit. I also figured this was more than just a repasting issue since liquid metal is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. So while digging around and reading up on this specific chipset and GPU and running some numbers I realized Acer has this thing cranked to 130% on a cold start when it didn't have to be that way. No reason to overexert the CPU on startup when its gonna sit for a minute anyway. Tweaked some settings and now instead of Idle temps sitting at 85c and about 100c while gaming with fans on auto and about 10c different when on max. We now sit at a frosty 58c at idle and 73c gaming. Even better when when the fans are kicked up to about 65% and a laptop cooler. I mention the fans because Acer's garbage sense software doesn't like to kick on the fans until its already hot... good job Acer. You made a magnanimous machine but still suck at software. Now Back to the temps now we don't even break 60c while gaming as it should be. Great piece of hardware but buyer beware, it will take some tweaking to get it just right.

The Bees Kneez. Nothing else comes close to the price. The performance for a laptop is insane. The fans are loud, but they keep this thing extremely cool for a gaming laptop with this much power. At first listen, the speakers are absolute K9 excrement, but once i turn of the sound effects and equalizers and used them plainly, they were ok, still the worst performing component.

I bought this laptop for my son’s birthday, and he is very happy with it. He uses it every day for gaming, schoolwork, and even some video editing. The performance is really fast, and it runs all his favorite games smoothly without any lag. The screen is amazing — the OLED display and 240Hz refresh rate make everything look super clear and smooth. He especially loves how realistic the graphics look when he plays games. The laptop also loads very quickly, and switching between apps is no problem at all. Another thing he likes is the design. It looks modern and feels like a premium gaming laptop. The keyboard lighting is a nice touch too. The only downside is the battery life isn’t the best, but that’s expected with a powerful gaming laptop like this. He mostly uses it plugged in anyway. So this was a great purchase, and it made his birthday special. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a strong gaming laptop.

Im just going to get into why i returned this laptop. 1. I play rocket league and the game kept stuttering and it was playing slightly choppy. I lowered settings and optimized the game through nvidia app and tired shutting down background tasks and still nothing. The fans also kept ramping but thats understandable because its a thin laptop. 2. When i would close the laptop screen so it would go into sleep mode when i would re open it would not function properly. I had to restart the laptop everytime i did that for it to work properly. 3. The speakers were by far the absoute worst garbage to be ever put onto a modern electronic device, terrible. 4. The cpu and gpu wattage is limited because its a thin laptop, might as well go for a 5070 version it would be close to that performance but it does have more vram. 5. Sometimes when i would launch a game through steam it would gray screen on me and freeze up for 1 minute. I had to end task and when i would click to open the game again the same thing would happen. Had to restart to get it to launch. I purchased the lenovo legion pro 7i instead with the same exact specs and i have none of these issues. Sure i paid a bit more for the lenovo but its worth it Plus the screen gets brighter on the lenovo. This is not a bad laptop for the price but its a good thing i got the lenovo to compare and now i know there are other laptops out there that do it much better for a little more money.

    Great specs

On paper the specs for the price is fantastic, beautiful OLED screen and 12gb 5070Ti along with a sufficient 32gb ram for under $2k is great. It's much slimmer and lighter than the non-S Neo16, both the laptop itself and the power brick. Downsides: refresh rate of the monitor is locked at 240 Hz so power consumption even doing web browsing or word processing type tasks is poor. Really wish they would give the option or automatically toggle to 60hz while on the igpu. Secondly, the power brick connections are bad. I went through 2 Helio Neos both with the same issue. At least the connector on the back of the Slim version clicks in more securely than the non-slim version. But both were touchy and would require unplug/replug at least half the time I turn on the laptop. I think with how great the specs are, Acer couldn't cut costs on things like the GPU or processor, so unquantifiable things like the charging cord is where they found ways to cut costs, unfortunately. Hopefully even with the annoyance of unplugging and replugging and making sure not to touch the power cord, it'll keep working as long as expected. Temperatures aren't bad, I stay under 75°C while gaming even without a fan dock.

I can't comment about the gamability of this laptop though I am sure it has a high scores there, but for driving LED walls, TV arrays, Ai scripting and content creation as a pro user it is an absolute beast. This will NOT be your favorite cafe laptop for writing or emails because it roars like a ferrari at high RPM, but for me who is either working hard at events to produce content quickly, or working hard to build my next event the fan lets people know I mean business. its like driving under a bridge with modified tailpipes on a 400HP monster street legal vehicle. Give you a jolt when you hit the throttle. I am impressed. MOREOVER the aspect ratio of the 16" screen makes it almost identical to the aspect ratio of an open book when you have 2 screens side by side. VERY comfortable multitasking. ok thats it. just buy it.

Shockingly sharp display I though 1440p on a 16" would be overkill but perhaps combined with OLED it really mesmerized me. Long time fan of 1080p I was worried the extra pixels would hurt performance but the 5070TI is letting me max out all settings no issues. I only wish it came with a 2TB drive instead of 1TB but not storing lots of movies it seems fine.

I was in the market for a new laptop, and I spoke with a sales rep at my local store as I was browsing one day. He recommended I check this laptop out for the value, and I was impressed after seeing side-by-side comparisons with this and several other laptops. The display is the real standout feature. It is phenomenal, and the lack of ability to shift down from 240 mhz has not impacted performance for any of my gaming. Battery life is about average or maybe slightly below for a gaming laptop, but you don’t buy one for the extensive battery life. Great performance, fantastic display, and great value!
