My son recently bought the Acer - Predator Neo 16S AI Gaming Laptop - 16" OLED 24OHz - Intel Core Ultra 9 - NVIDIA GeForce RTZ 5070Ti - 1TB - Obsidian Black. He likes it so far. The battery life is pretty bad and now e need to buy a fan because it overheats quickly, but otherwise he likes it,

Pretty much exactly what you would expect for the price. Works as promised with all cons being incredibly minor and typical with laptop. I use it to play Star Citizen which is considered one of the hardest video games to run in the world. Runs fine for me at a easy 50-80 fps and looks very nice with the oled screen

Love that sleek and understated look that just look and feels premium. It's thin and packs a HX processor, which was a surprise considering the thickness. The thermals is amazing. (This is my second gaming notebook that I've bought this year for me and my kid, and it is far better than the one that cost over $1k more of the same GPU/CPU, and significantly thicker in March with pre-order). I'm also glad that I didn't see earlier reviews, otherwise, I would've bought at the full MSRP, which is a great value at MSRP especially compare to its nearest comp. Yes, it would be a steal at full MSRP. My complaint is that my nearest Best Buy was out of stock earlier this year when I was ready to buy. The display is incredibly vivid, with ultra high color gamut, and 240Hz matches perfectly with the RTX5070Ti GPU. Even on the smaller things in life like Thunderbolt and Type C, I really appreciate that Acer enabled one of the Type C with direct dGPU connection. My other gaming notebook from Best Buy had both connected to iGPU (hated it). I do play mostly on external displays, and appreciate the dGPU Type C and Power is on the back, and makes the cable management clean. The built quality is great, but what really made me happy was that I got far far far more performance than other thin chassis that cost much more. My only regret was that I wish Best Buy would've had this unit much earlier. Could've saved me a few thousand dollars from my first RTX5070Ti that I bought before reviews existed (different brand). Battery life, yes, it is a gaming notebook, and I have no issues with it. Overall, this is the best gaming notebook that I had purchased and love the performance, display, and quality of this product.

I picked up this laptop on sale about a month ago for $1459.99, and thus far I'm quite impressed. The 240hz OLED screen at a 2560x1600 resolution is a great combo, and the color depth really pops alongside inky deep blacks and solid contrast thanks to being HDR500 certified. HDR1000 would have been preferred, but it's still decent enough to make the benefits of HDR noticeable. As other reviews have, said it's a bit frutsrating that the refresh rate can't be adjusted from anything other than 240hz, but it's likewise easy enough to limit framerate for games either within the games' settings menus or via the nVidia app. Speaking of nVidia, the 12GB RTX 5070Ti in this laptop performs quite admirably. I was recently able to run Resident Evil: Requiem on it with a mix of high and ultra settings with ray tracing set to high and DLSS at Balanced to get 80-90fps, and a little boost via frame gen could kick it up to a steady 120fps (which I limited from 240fps via the nVidia app). Games in general look superb on the OLED screen, as has been stated, and anything else I've thrown at it has run at least at high settings and fps typically at or above 100fps, depending on the game. The 32GB of DDR5 RAM truly makes a difference for multitasking and browsing, as when I use the laptop primarily for work, I'll sometimes have towards of 30+ tabs open between two Google Chrome profiles, but there's no slow-down or hitching whatsoever. The fans on this thing can rev quite loud when gaming, especially when playing AAA fare like RE9, and the onboard speakers leave something to be desired as they have a kind of tinny, hallway-esque sound to them. These things are noticeable but not necessarily a detracting gripe for me since I typically wear headphones. Battery life is also so-so at best, definitely NOT recommended to be on battery when gaming, and with word processing or web browsing, battery will last 2-2.5 hours tops it seems. I keep it plugged in 90% of the time, so somewhat of a moot issue for myself but nontheless worth acknowledging. If you're looking for a gorgeous, excellently performing gaming laptop and can nab this for $1500 or less, it's a very solid pick.

    High-value engineering/gaming laptop

I bought the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S mainly to use for my engineering courses, and overall, it has been a really solid choice. The laptop is very fast, which is important when running programs like CAD software, simulations, or doing multiple tasks at once. With the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, RTX 5070 Ti, and 32GB of RAM, it handles everything smoothly without lag. One thing I really like is that it’s thin and light compared to other gaming laptops. This makes it easier to carry around campus, especially when going from class to class. The 16-inch OLED screen also looks really good. The colors are bright, and the 240Hz refresh rate makes everything look smooth, whether I’m working or taking a break to play games. Another big advantage is the value. I was able to get it at a discounted price, so for the specs it offers, it's “bang for the buck.” The shipping was also quick and hassle-free, which made the experience even better. The only downside I’ve noticed is the battery life. It drains pretty fast, especially when running heavy programs or gaming, so I usually have to bring my charger with me. Overall, this laptop is a great option for an engineering student who needs a powerful and portable device. It performs well, looks great, and offers strong value, but just be prepared for shorter battery life.

Bought this because they had it on sale for $1599, so I figured it was a good time to get something portable. Got it and realized Acer really sucks and configuring their BIOS to you know make sure that their product doesn't overheat. Had to do some digging on the forums because I knew Acer was going to be trash at helping and while part of the time GeekSquad isn't bad their track record of ripping open small tech and assembling it back together correctly really isn't their strong suit. I also figured this was more than just a repasting issue since liquid metal is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. So while digging around and reading up on this specific chipset and GPU and running some numbers I realized Acer has this thing cranked to 130% on a cold start when it didn't have to be that way. No reason to overexert the CPU on startup when its gonna sit for a minute anyway. Tweaked some settings and now instead of Idle temps sitting at 85c and about 100c while gaming with fans on auto and about 10c different when on max. We now sit at a frosty 58c at idle and 73c gaming. Even better when when the fans are kicked up to about 65% and a laptop cooler. I mention the fans because Acer's garbage sense software doesn't like to kick on the fans until its already hot... good job Acer. You made a magnanimous machine but still suck at software. Now Back to the temps now we don't even break 60c while gaming as it should be. Great piece of hardware but buyer beware, it will take some tweaking to get it just right.

The Bees Kneez. Nothing else comes close to the price. The performance for a laptop is insane. The fans are loud, but they keep this thing extremely cool for a gaming laptop with this much power. At first listen, the speakers are absolute K9 excrement, but once i turn of the sound effects and equalizers and used them plainly, they were ok, still the worst performing component.

On paper the specs for the price is fantastic, beautiful OLED screen and 12gb 5070Ti along with a sufficient 32gb ram for under $2k is great. It's much slimmer and lighter than the non-S Neo16, both the laptop itself and the power brick. Downsides: refresh rate of the monitor is locked at 240 Hz so power consumption even doing web browsing or word processing type tasks is poor. Really wish they would give the option or automatically toggle to 60hz while on the igpu. Secondly, the power brick connections are bad. I went through 2 Helio Neos both with the same issue. At least the connector on the back of the Slim version clicks in more securely than the non-slim version. But both were touchy and would require unplug/replug at least half the time I turn on the laptop. I think with how great the specs are, Acer couldn't cut costs on things like the GPU or processor, so unquantifiable things like the charging cord is where they found ways to cut costs, unfortunately. Hopefully even with the annoyance of unplugging and replugging and making sure not to touch the power cord, it'll keep working as long as expected. Temperatures aren't bad, I stay under 75°C while gaming even without a fan dock.

I’ve been using this Predator Helios Neo 16S as my main machine for gaming and work for a little over a week now and I honestly think this is one of the best gaming laptops Acer has made in a long time. It feels much more premium than older Predator models I’ve owned or tested, especially with the thinner aluminum body and OLED display. Performance is absolutely nuts for a laptop this size, but there are definitely tradeoffs, mainly heat and fan noise. The first thing that stood out immediately was the screen. This OLED panel is probably my favorite part of the laptop. Colors are ridiculously vibrant, blacks are perfect, and the 240Hz refresh rate makes everything feel insanely smooth. Even just moving windows around in Windows looks cleaner compared to my IPS laptop. I mainly tested games like Cyberpunk 2077, Black Ops 6, Forza Horizon 5, and Helldivers 2 and they all looked incredible on this display. Cyberpunk at native 2560x1600 with ray tracing enabled and DLSS 4 performance mode was averaging around 90-110 FPS depending on the area. With frame generation turned on it jumped even higher and still looked surprisingly sharp. Black Ops 6 multiplayer was sitting around 180-220 FPS on competitive settings which felt amazing paired with the 240Hz screen. Helldivers 2 was around 100 FPS maxed out. Forza Horizon 5 was basically effortless for this thing, usually hovering around 140+ FPS on extreme settings. The Ultra 9 275HX is also no joke. I ran Cinebench just to see what it could do and the multicore score was way beyond my older i9 laptop. Video exports in Premiere were noticeably faster too. I also tried some Blender rendering and the RTX 5070 Ti chewed through scenes faster than expected for a mobile GPU. Honestly this laptop feels closer to a desktop replacement than a normal gaming laptop. That said, all this power comes with one major downside: heat. This thing gets seriously hot while gaming. The center area above the keyboard gets uncomfortable to touch during long sessions and the underside gets hot enough that you definitely won’t want this sitting directly on your lap while gaming. The fans also get LOUD. Not a little loud either. Under full load it sounds like the cooling system is fighting for its life sometimes. I usually game with headphones so it doesn’t bother me much, but people expecting a quiet gaming laptop are going to be disappointed. The weird part is the cooling system actually works well despite the noise. I didn’t notice major FPS drops or thermal throttling during long sessions. Acer clearly prioritized maintaining performance over keeping noise levels down. Personally I prefer that tradeoff, but it’s something buyers should absolutely know beforehand. Build quality is much nicer than I expected from Acer. The aluminum lid and chassis feel sturdy and the thinner design makes it feel more modern compared to older bulky gaming laptops. Keyboard feels good for gaming and typing, although the numpad keys are a little cramped. Trackpad is surprisingly decent too. Battery life is about what I expected. Fine for browsing, videos, and office stuff, not great for gaming. I got roughly 5-6 hours doing lighter tasks with brightness lowered, but gaming absolutely destroys the battery quickly. This is definitely a machine that performs best plugged in. Other things I liked: - OLED response time is amazing for shooters - Speakers are decent with actual bass - Webcam and microphones are surprisingly usable - Plenty of ports without needing dongles - WiFi 6E has been rock solid - Upgradable RAM/storage is nice to see Overall I’ve been really impressed with this laptop. It feels like Acer finally nailed the balance between performance, display quality, and build quality. The OLED screen alone makes it hard to go back to a regular IPS panel. Just understand that squeezing this much hardware into a slim chassis means heat and fan noise are unavoidable. If you can live with that, this thing is an absolute monster.

Shockingly sharp display I though 1440p on a 16" would be overkill but perhaps combined with OLED it really mesmerized me. Long time fan of 1080p I was worried the extra pixels would hurt performance but the 5070TI is letting me max out all settings no issues. I only wish it came with a 2TB drive instead of 1TB but not storing lots of movies it seems fine.

Im just going to get into why i returned this laptop. 1. I play rocket league and the game kept stuttering and it was playing slightly choppy. I lowered settings and optimized the game through nvidia app and tired shutting down background tasks and still nothing. The fans also kept ramping but thats understandable because its a thin laptop. 2. When i would close the laptop screen so it would go into sleep mode when i would re open it would not function properly. I had to restart the laptop everytime i did that for it to work properly. 3. The speakers were by far the absoute worst garbage to be ever put onto a modern electronic device, terrible. 4. The cpu and gpu wattage is limited because its a thin laptop, might as well go for a 5070 version it would be close to that performance but it does have more vram. 5. Sometimes when i would launch a game through steam it would gray screen on me and freeze up for 1 minute. I had to end task and when i would click to open the game again the same thing would happen. Had to restart to get it to launch. I purchased the lenovo legion pro 7i instead with the same exact specs and i have none of these issues. Sure i paid a bit more for the lenovo but its worth it Plus the screen gets brighter on the lenovo. This is not a bad laptop for the price but its a good thing i got the lenovo to compare and now i know there are other laptops out there that do it much better for a little more money.

I bought this laptop for my son’s birthday, and he is very happy with it. He uses it every day for gaming, schoolwork, and even some video editing. The performance is really fast, and it runs all his favorite games smoothly without any lag. The screen is amazing — the OLED display and 240Hz refresh rate make everything look super clear and smooth. He especially loves how realistic the graphics look when he plays games. The laptop also loads very quickly, and switching between apps is no problem at all. Another thing he likes is the design. It looks modern and feels like a premium gaming laptop. The keyboard lighting is a nice touch too. The only downside is the battery life isn’t the best, but that’s expected with a powerful gaming laptop like this. He mostly uses it plugged in anyway. So this was a great purchase, and it made his birthday special. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a strong gaming laptop.
